I never leave bad reviews, but after my experience at Leila's Hair Studio, I feel obligated to warn others so they don't waste their time, money, or risk serious hair damage.
I booked an appointment for a haircut and blowout for an event. I made it very clear that I wanted a simple, fresh blowout with a trim. What I got instead was a disaster. The stylist asked if I wanted my hair to look like hers, which I assumed meant the way it was finished after a blowout--not an entirely different styling service. At no point was I told this meant I would be charged significantly more or that she would skip basic steps like washing my hair.
Instead of receiving the standard shampoo, conditioning, and protective treatment that should accompany any blowout or cut, she went straight into styling my dry hair with excessive heat. My hair was literally steaming while she curled it, which is an immediate sign of heat damage. A good stylist would have recognized that and adjusted, but she continued. The final result? Crimped, uneven curls, a slightly off-center part, and dry hair flakes left in my hair--not the smooth, polished look I expected. Within 30 minutes, my curls had already fallen apart, and the next day, I was horrified to see that my hair felt brittle, fried, and full of split ends.
The worst part? The price. Their website advertises a haircut and blowout for $35. I was charged $79.10--more than double--without being informed of any price change beforehand. When I went back to ask about it, they dismissed my concerns, saying the extra charge was because she "styled" my hair instead of doing a blowout, something I never asked for or agreed to. If I had been informed ahead of time, I never would have gone through with it--especially since I am a student on a budget and chose this salon for its supposedly reasonable prices.
To make matters worse, I contacted the salon multiple times over two weeks to try and resolve this. They completely ignored me. No response, no acknowledgment--nothing. This is not how a business should treat its customers, especially when their mistake damaged someone's hair.
I have photos to prove everything--before, during, and after the appointment--and will be disputing the charge with my credit card company since this salon clearly does not stand behind its work or value customer satisfaction.
If you care about your hair, your money, or basic professionalism, DO NOT go to Leila's Hair Studio. There are plenty of salons that actually listen to their clients, deliver what was promised, and don't charge hidden fees. Save yourself the frustration and find a place that actually respects its customers. read more
