You will not find a better doctor than Dr. Rhodes. Period. She has been my primary care doctor for years. I have had many complex problems lately, and she is more informed than many of the specialists she has referred me to. She truly cares and listens. She also has a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. She is always so thorough with my health care, She always informs me about medications, side effects, etc., and she knows the PDR like the back of her hand. She is also extremely knowledgeable about holistic care. If you need a test, she will order the test, unlike other doctors I have seen. When I discuss abnormal results with her, she always takes the time to educate me about the results, and she formulates a plan with me for moving forward. I had to go the hospital for an endocrine problem. She called me and the physicians on my care team while I was there. She truly cares about her patients. I cannot imagine going to another doctor. I feel so blessed that I found her in the vast sea of doctors out there. She checks every box in what I consider to be a good doctor. I see people complain about waiting a few minutes for their appointments in these reviews. If you have to wait a few minutes, that is because she is taking the time she needs to give the patient before you wonderful care. Where can I start. I have seen many, many doctors in the past from pediatricians to Primary care physicians. Never I mean never have I had a more compassionate, kind and brilliant physician. This office Dr Rhodes and Dawn mis read my 12/24 very high PSA count when I had a subsequent lab Corp test. They told me my very low PSA # was great news and I was good to go. The very low # was negative PSA which the description indicates I don't have a prostate. I didn't read the lab Corp result. Dr Rhodes called me to tell me the great news which was wrong In mid '25 as I was preparing for hip replacement I needed Pre Op Clearance. My PSA # continued very very high @15. Dawn told me not to worry. I'm 77 years old and very active. Currently I'm having cancer treatment at Sloane Kettering as I have high risk cancer with Gleason scores of 9 and have delayed my hip replacement causing much pain Don't use this office read more

Saw Dr. Rhodes when I first starting going to the office almost 10 years ago. I have been seeing Dawn ever since and she is great--Understanding, holistic, knowledgeable, kind, empathetic. However, the support staff is horrendous and unprofessional. They do not communicate with each other, which is apparent from me having to call multiple times to get clarification on some testing that was ordered for me. To then be told that I didn't have insurance coverage which I did and that was a whole thing back-and-forth, telling me I had a partial coverage but she worked it out... I don't even know what that means. It just seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Not to mention the last time I had bloodwork done there the nurse bruised my arm so badly, it didn't go away for over a month. Took over 9 months to resolve and I had to follow up over and over again with no satisfactory resolution. I see Dawn the PA and she is awesome, but I have had a lot of issues with the support staff. I have been a patient for a few years and haven't had many issues until recently. Every time I call to ask a question about medication or try to get scheduled, the people on the phone are extremely rude and give incorrect information. The way the front desk speaks to people on the phone is so disrespectful and careless. This has happened very frequently in the past few months. For example they told me I needed to pay a fee to request a pharmacy change, which just absolutely is not true. They have also tried to charge me multiple times for one visit. I was also told I needed to have a visit every two months to be prescribed long term medications that I have been on for more than 10 years ( I have never needed to be seen that frequently by Dawn to have them prescribed). Those are just some of many pieces of incorrect information I was given. At this point, I no longer think it is worth seeing Dawn to deal with the people at the front desk any time I need to call. I personally work in healthcare and don't think this is the way people deserve to be treated in regards to their health or at all. read more

Love this place! I'm a SD transplant from NYC and Nashville. I mean, I literally moved here 5 weeks ago lol. The scoop: I needed to see a doc to get scripts I take daily and was tired of seeing random PA's at an overpriced corporate walk-in clinic. (Literally, the last time I was there, the Doctor said sinus infections have no relation to severe allergies. Um, yeah that's inaccurate. ) Moving along, I asked a girlfriend and she raved about Dr.Rhodes office and the warm environment. So, I called to make an appt. The staff was super helpful and made the atypical nuance of scheduling visit as new patient, seamless! I even got in the following day and was seen by DR.Rhodes Physicians Assistant, Dawn. Dawn is just lovely!! She is down to earth, engaging, funny, a great listener, relatable and puts things in laments terms. She works with you and talks with you -- not AT you. She gives treatment options and encourages the option that works for YOU. Plus I had no problem asking general questions I'd been wanting to ask a doctor but never felt comfortable in doing so. She's that down and cool.... even helped my with coupons for medication as I'm super uninsured (1099... Health cares a mess... lalalala...). Dawn --you are the best!!!!! So happy I found a reliable and great PCP! PS- Kuddos to the ladies at the front desk! They're funny and attentive and real. PPS - This place deserves 5 stars overall -- if someone had issues or wrote a bad review, I suggest checking their page to see other reviews (many of them just place bad reviews on any establishment that provides service bc it costs MONEY. If you have never been here, keep scrolling and find another Doctor. I've been a patient here for several years and have never met Dr Rhodes. I recently booked an appointment to get some tests done. After going in for the appointment, and paying my copay, I was informed that the Doctor on call could not perform the tests today but that they would do a checkup. Ok fine. I came back a few weeks later for the tests, and on my way out of the office they demanded another copay for that appointment. I was taken off guard but agreed to pay it. When my test results were ultimately ready, they refused to share the results with me unless I paid for another appointment, or signed a waiver indicating that I would not be able to speak a doctor if I had questions regarding the results. After a formal demand, they finally provided the results, which showed everything was normal. They wanted to charge me to provide me normal results for tests that I had already paid for! These people are unbelievable. I strongly suggest you find another office to work with. Note: I would give 1 star but YELP usually filters those. My husband and I have been going here for several years now and we absolutely love it!!!!!! Dawn Hinkle, PA spends time with us and she is always so pleasant and cheerful: even though we all know she has patients waiting and needs to keep moving!!! But she never rushes her patients and listens to them all, just as these other reviews state. She is super knowledgeable! She doesn't have to second guess anything! SHE IS ON IT!!!! I have heard multiple times patients passing through the waiting area to leave stating what a wonderful experience they had as well and love the staff. I went to see Dr. Rhodes as a first time patient in January 2011 for a sinus infection. She also gave me a script for Imitrex, for migraines. I called today...three months later and they will not refill the Imitrex over the phone without a $100 payment. What the hell???? I saw Dr Rhodes today and she was so helpful I felt compelled to share with everyone how great of an experience I had. I am in my late 20's and don't have a lot of health issues but I will get an occasional cold or sore throat and feel under the weather. I luckily stumbled across Dr Rhodes because she is within my insurance network and close to my home. What I appreciated most was the time she spent with me, she asked me questions about my symptoms and thoroughly went over the medications she was prescribing to me and why. She also suggested different medications I could get over the counter that would help as an alternative. I appreciated this because most doctors want you to make another appt if you're not feeling better which cost you the patient time and money. She also has a holistic approach when treating patients which I liked. We talked about my health in general and vitamin/mineral deficiencies I may have. I scheduled a follow-up visit with her to get blood work done to assess exactly where I am off balance and may need supplements. In addition to all this, I was really impressed with the high technology in her office. There was no paper to be filled out, I actually filled out all of my information on a Phreesia which seemed like a mini computer and when I was sitting with Dr Rohodes she was typing in notes about my health on the computer in the patient room. It was comforting knowing all of my information is being efficiently stored in one spot electronically and not spread across a bunch of papers or documents. Dr. Rhodes is perfect if you want to have someone lecture you about what she thinks is "bad for your soul" rather than actually provide treatment for the medical complaint that caused you to visit her clinic. This lecture took place over the phone (Dr. Rhodes was not in the office and I was seen by her PA), without Dr. Rhodes asking a single question about me personally, my medical history or anything actually related to my medical complaint (elbow tendinitis). My appointment concluded with the PA suggesting I try magnets for my elbow tendinitis...MAGNETS! When I go to a doctor I expect them to provide treatment based on the most effective, current, peer-reviewed medical studies and current research, not faith-based quackery. Save your time, money and sanity and go see a qualified doctor who will provide you with effective treatment based on western medicine instead of lectures about what's bad for your soul and suggestions to pursue idiotic and unproven treatment methods. read more

I have never written a review for anything. Concurrent with this review I am filing a formal complaint to the California Dept. of public health in regards to this health facility. I am a seasoned R.N. and have never in my years of practice come upon such a scam. Everything from breaches of ethics, a young rude,disrespectful receptionist, no follow up action after multiple calls to the office, exorbitant charges, etc. It has been nothing short of a nightmare for what was supposed to be a simple blood test. I have not been given the results of the test because I was not willing to pay $100 to get the results. Absolutely absurd. I went to a CVS minute clinic and all was taken care of with ease and a correct diagnosis. PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS OFFICE. Dr. Leila Rhides does not deserve to be in the healthcare field. Dr. Rhodes and Dr. Hinkle have relentlessly helped me to diagnose and manage my multiple autoimmune diseases. I have been a patient for almost 6 years. I first came to Dr. Rhodes to establish myself with a new GP, anemia and allergies. Little did I know 2 years later I would be going to them at least once a month for the foreseeable future. Dr. Hinkle helped run every test she could think of, we found answers and what she wasn't able to answer she gave me WONDERFUL recommendations for specialists. I have seen over 7 specialists and she had worked with every single one of them implementing their notes, suggestions and closely monitoring me. I am talking over 700 pages of medical notes because of how thorough she has been with me. I have cried, cussed, almost passed out, napped in between patients, I have done it all with Dr. Hinkle and she has supported me so much. I can say she TRULY cares about her patients. There can be a long waiting time but that's only because she takes her time with her patients that need it. Most of the time that is me so I am just thankful. She has helped treat me in both western and eastern approaches. I love that she tries to help without shoving medicine my way first. She's given me diet guidance, supplements and mental health resources and suggestions. I have ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, POTS, IBS, Endometriosis, PCOS, anxiety, chronic allergies and other very rare diseases. This was all a mystery until Dr. Hinkle helped me get to the bottom of what is wrong with me. All of these very difficult to treat and she never once gave up on me. This is my first time posting on Yelp but I felt it was important to share with the community!!! Very disappointing, unprofessional and frustrating experience. After making an appointment we, (my son and I), still had over an hour wait in the office to see the the nurse practitioner, (not the Doctor). The practitioner ordered almost $1,000 in lab tests and we rescheduled a follow up appointment to discuss the results. On the day of the appointment the office cancelled because the test had been mishandled and needed to be re-taken. They still charged us for the fist set of tests even though they were unusable and for the office visit!!! Back to square one!!! read more

The support staff is incompetent and call the wrong pharmacy to refill prescriptions, don't provide any customer service and you never get help with billing questions. It's rare to find a doctor who you feel actually cares about you and remembers you from the last time you were in. I only have good things to say about her, and I highly recommend her. It surprises and saddens me that she has negative reviews. When I moved back to Marin county after living in San Diego for a few years, Dr. Rhodes was one of the few things I was sad to leave. I wish I could have taken her with me, because my new doctor up here is OKAY, but she's no Dr. Rhodes. I did on occasion wait for quite a long time, but I always thought it was worth it. She is kind and nonjudgmental, and I always felt comfortable talking to her about anything. She always spent a good amount of time with me, and regardless of what was going on, I always felt better after I left her office. Additionally, I had to see a couple specialists at various points in time, and everyone she referred me to was wonderful. When I broke my foot she squeezed me in on the same day instead of just telling me to go see a specialist or to go to the ER, which I really appreciated. She always gave me a hug hello whenever I was in. She really is the best. read more

This was my first appointment, I expected to see Dr. Rhodes, since I did make an appointment to see her. I had many concerns I wanted/needed to address. At first I was not happy at all, the front office, seemed not to know what to do and who would do it. The front desk person was asking all the questions I wanted to speak to the Dr about, in my head I was making a mental note, that I would leave and call my insurance company to complain and get another Dr. Until Dawn walked in with her great personality and changed my opinion and view of the office to the positive, if not for her, this would be a different story. They do make you come in a second time to get the results, have to wait a week for my results. In the end it was positive, all concerns were addressed. read more

They supply me supply me samples if I cannot afford prescriptions right away and take the time to listen to me! They are both caring individuals as well! DO NOT get trapped into seeing this physician. She is ripping patients off BIG TIME! She will not refill prescriptions without charging $100! for a so-called phone consultation. When you pay for an office visit and blood work, she will not release your results unless, you guessed it - you pay another $100 for a phone consultation or yet another personal visit. Last time I was in her office I spent over $600 out of pocket on the visit and a bag full of supplements. Never received the results of the blood work. Not able to get a $15 prescription refilled. While Dr. Rhodes is friendly enough, I spent an hour waiting for her to see me despite having an appointment. The second visit she kept me waiting 2 hours despite having an appointment- 2 HOURS! On top of that, every little thing required a return visit. Why can't you look at two moles on the same visit?! After being in San Diego for 3-1/2 years I finally had to break down and find a primary care doctor. I was out of 2 prescriptions I need to be on and really needed to see someone before getting a new prescription. Prior to moving to San Diego I had had the same doctor for over 20 years and didn't know where to start. I called my insurance and they helped me locate one near me who was associated with the hospital I was interested in. They were able to schedule me the next day but I was working so I scheduled for the day after that. (That was my first pleasant surprise). After scheduling an appointment, I decided to do some research on her. I was very impressed with her educational background and medical qualifications. Then I read some of the reviews and I was like, YIKES! But I had to start someplace and I really needed to get in to see someone, and unlike so many other doctors I did not have to wait a month or two to get in to see her..... Boy I am glad I did! I am also glad I don't believe everything I read, and don't you either, when it comes to Dr. Rhodes! I went to see her today with a lot of reservations after reading the reviews but was determined to keep an open mind. I was so happy with my whole experience I had to write about it. The office atmosphere was very comfortable and I was treated with respect by everyone. Dr. Rhodes was very personable, smiling and easy to talk to. She listened to all my information and answered all my questions. She had no problem writing me a 90 day supply for my prescriptions and even offered to give me some free samples. I was so pleased to find that we got along very well. I love that she balances her medical practice with traditional as well as holistic medicine. So far, it seems we share similar philosophies regarding good health and medical treatments. There was no co pay for my exam. Blood work was done, urine test, and all the necessary screening tests. I really felt like she covered everything for my first visit. I scheduled another appointment for the following week to go over test results. I left her office feeling very happy, relieved it went so well, and grateful that I did not judge her based solely on these reviews. I can't help but believe that someone must seriously have a personal vendetta against this doctor because my experience could not have been more different than what those people described.. The last interesting thing that happened was, after I left her office I decided to stop and get my car washed before going to fill my prescriptions. I don't know what happened, but somehow in between those two places I lost the prescriptions. I really needed them that day so I called Dr. Rhodes office and told them what happened. Dr. Rhodes called the prescriptions into the pharmacy for me, included 6 refills instead of 3, and I was able to pick them up later that same day. I realize this has all been based on my first experience, but I was 100% satisfied and am really looking forward to a lasting relationship with this doctor. If I am wrong about her, I will be the first to admit it on yelp. But my experience tells me that either those other reviews couldn't have been true, or things have DRASTICALLY changed at this doctor's office. I have no problem recommending this doctor. As good as it gets. I always feel comfortable at appointments with Dr. Rhodes. The soothing music and decor makes the visit comforting. Dr. Rhodes spent 45 minutes with me at our first visit. This amount of individual time to ask the Doctor as many medical questions is truly unique. Being older my multiple medical issues were treated together in a holistic way. Dr. Rhodes is so wonderful. I love how convenient is it to go (appointment or walk in) and be seen quickly in a pleasant, clean and quiet waiting room. Her facility has a zen-like feel and the registration is super modern and easy with an iPad like device. She is kind, patient and efficient. I've been a few times and always had a super pleasant experience. I see some people complain about the cost of seeing her to refill prescriptions ($100), that's what happens when you don't have insurance and need to see the Dr, she still needs to make money to have her business open. If people want free, there are clinics for that. We pay for convenience and it's a wonderful value not to have to go to a noisy hospital and be seen and have our needs taken care of right away. I'm new to the area and needed a doctor in an emergency & remembered driving by & seeing the urgent care sign for Dr Rhodes. I had cut my hand & was not sure I needed stiches. I guess I came in during their lunch hour, but the staff got me right in to see Sarah who stitched me up and had me out within an hour. I have been a patient of Dr. Rhodes for a couple of years now and I am so happy that I found her! She genuinely cares about her patients and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes before getting seen. She provides alternatives to prescriptions if that is what you prefer. She is thorough in her exams and leaves you feeling positive despite the given sickness. Her physician's assistant, Sarah, is also awesome. When I told her about my chronic back/neck pain she actually got on the floor to demonstrate a routine of stretches (and they actually helped immensely!!) My 23yr old daughter went to Dr. Rhodes for the first time with a bad lingering sore throat . She did not see the DR. but saw her PA instead. The PA gave my daughter an antibiotic perscription , told her to take sudaphed and use some afrin nose spray. Oh yes she drew some blood also. My daughter called to see if she could get the blood results over the phone with the DR. instead of coming in due to her work schedule. The response was if there was a phone conversation they would have to charge my daughter $75. Ok so a followup appt was made to review the labs again with the PA. Basically told my daughter that she needed to take some vit.D , vit.B and a multivit. A few weeks later I recieved a bill from the lab for $1,700!! My portion after ins. paid was $205. The labs that were drawn were not even relevant for her complaint, There was 5 different types of thyroid test, magnesium , cholesterol , iron panel, liver function.......etc... WHAT DOES A 23YR OLD WHO GOES IN FOR A SORE THROAT NEED HER CHOLESTEROL CHECKED!!!!!! Amongst other things! This was bullshit!!! I was furious ! This is why our insurance premiums are so high!!!! I would never recommend her ... You can bet the good DR. Rhodes will be hearing from me!!!!! read more
