At the time, platinum spot was around $103/dwt, making that pricing very difficult to justify. I ended up purchasing an identical 6.5 dwt band elsewhere for $825, again with appraisal and third-party verification included. This felt like aggressive markup rather than pricing based on actual materials or labor. Communication was also lacking, I was told emails and voicemails had been sent, but I never received either. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes before doing business here.

He handed it back to me with a smile and told me it was much more accurate now. There was no charge listed on the ticket. So I said, "how much do I owe you?" Andre said "that's all right, I'll catch you next time". "it's an easy watch to regulate... It didn't take much time at all.". If this were an old friend, I might understand that... But this was strictly business. Who does that in this day and age? Apparently, Andre does. Somehow, that made me feel just a little bit better about humanity. All I can do is give him a five star review, which is richly deserved. One other quick thing: his business is basically in an upscale office building, not in a mall somewhere. The building is really nice, and parking is a breeze. The restrooms are all unlocked... When she'd tried it on in the store, it was a perfect fit. Several months later when I proposed, the ring was literally 2.5 sizes too big (she'd clearly had inflammation from the travel, heat, etc. when she tried it on). We also noticed one of the diamonds was ever so slightly loose. We were told by some that it was impossible to size down. I was extremely worried about american jewelers damaging or ruining the ring. The antique gold, the placement of the diamonds, everything was too complicated. Thank goodness we got the recommendation to go to Sausalito jewelers. Their in house jeweler, Paulo, is Italian and holds master jeweler certification from Florence. He did an absolutely perfect restoration. He brought it down over 2 sizes, he gave it a gentle polish, and he was able to adjust the loose ring. He did this work without in any way changing or distorting the original look or shape of the ring. I cannot tell you how happy we are with it. Today I picked up an old Gucci purse passed down from my Grandma that was in need of two strips of leather to hold down the handle. The purse is badly stained (but well-loved) so I was surprised to see that the shop had distressed the new pieces of leather to try and match the condition of the purse. Jeff, Owner/ designer of McWhinney Design, picked up the phone. After a quick discussion, he sent me the sizing rings (very important step). I sent him the information he needed to get started. In less than three weeks I had an extremely comfortable ring that fit over my fat knuckles and locks into place on my finger. I terrorize my hands daily with food products, soaps and degreasers, Brillo pads... even paint. After a quick polish with the included cleaning cloths, it shines like new. I couldn't be happier...
