What they did this year is everyone bought tickets and they did a lottery system to see who could possibly attend. They only allowed about 1,500 people into the venue and they normally allow around 5,000 people. This was great and made it pretty easy to social distance from the crowds. They also provided every person a bandanna face covering to wear while at the rodeo which was super nice touch! I also noticed tons of cleaning going on during the rodeo by staff members. They were wiping down hand rails and high touch points to make it even safer for guests. Also, upon entrance every person had their temperature taken to make sure they didn't have a fever. This Rodeo did it right and make sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time! Once inside the rodeo they had several food trucks serving some delicious eats. My family took advantage of the bbq food truck to get burgers and ribs and the Hot dog food truck to get nachos and hot dogs! The food was a little expensive, but it was well worth it. I loved the rodeo. But there are a few sports that happen that really look painful to the animal. It may not be painful, but it sure looked that way. The Cows run out and the horse follows them and a guy rope ties their neck hoping they fall over, but if they don't flips them on the side and ties their feat. I mean kinda crazy, but I understand this is what was done in the West so people could get their cattle back. Just an interesting sport. Overall though all the other competitions were pretty cool. My favorite was the bull riding! It was so much fun and the bulls seemed crazy tough! Overall I am glad I got to go to the Oakley Rodeo. I am glad they had fireworks after the rodeo and we got to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends in a fun safe setting. I would highly recommend this!

This is the most pathetic excuse for a rodeo I have attended…read more Between the self proclaimed 'rodeo entertainer' who is loud and annoying and a tremendous time waster, and the poor announcer who thinks insulting and crude is good entertainment, we are at + 1 hour and have only seen a couple actual events. If you have to constantly ask for clapping, stomping etc, maybe you should try giving the slim crowd something to actually cheer. Only a few successful runs in the 2 events and we are finally up to team roping with 1 out of 4 successful. And back to bs wasting time.

Hopefully the owners running these businesses will notice and do better, as it really isn't right to run a business so shamefully! Sadly the poor locals have no choice in Evanston, so they have to put up with all of these unethical practices! As a business owner myself I regularly hold Staff Meetings, so my employees know exactly how to do their job, how to troubleshoot, be efficient, I am able to maximize productivity and morale! Definitely check it out it is always the second Saturday of September and usually the same day as the suicide prevention walk that's at liberty park. The market is from 10-6 and they do the walk from 9-1pm so you're totally able to check out both the same day.

There were lots of vendors with unique offerings, but I'm not sure it felt especially "urban." The music and entertainment on the two stages were more what I expected-hip hop performers, dancers and artists. I would have loved to see more street performers outside the main stages. The food trucks were sparse-I think there were four in total. Everything was just smaller than I'd hoped it would be. Maybe I'm just comparing it to the much larger arts festival and hoping it would be more like that. Maybe in time. Although I do appreciate that it's free to get in.

Every year on July 24, people in the State of Utah celebrate Pioneer Day, a day which honors the…read moreoriginal Mormon pioneers. To be honest, I call this Annoying-Leave-An-Extra-Hour-To-Get-To-Work-Day, as a large chunk of downtown gets blocked off. I've had experiences like nearly having a head-on collision with a massive T-Rex float and having too walk miles to work, hurdling sleeping bags along the way. But, I digress. Locals love the event. They love it so much that whole families camp out overnight for primo spots on the route. The parade usually starts at South Temple and State Street at 9 a.m. It runs east to 200 East, turns south to 900 S., and finally turns East to 600 E. (Liberty Park). As someone who has been to the Tournament of Roses Parade, this is a pedestrian affair in comparison. Out-of-towners will likely feel the same way, as the parade is very vanilla, with little that will offend or shock. The consequence of that is there is very little that inspires or awe-strikes. Still, it has a good local flavor, some of the thematic floats are exceptional, and the crowd brings the noise and energy. Even watching the cleaning crew parade after is interesting. An hour after, there is neither hide nor hair nor fleck of trash left behind.
