We had a great time at the Lego Discovery Center. It's a fun outing for kids and families. They have a duplo lego playground that my kid loved. And an area for making minifigs. And the major jungle jump car building area which was the favorite part! You can build cars and launch on several ramps. The pirate playground was crowded but also a nice option. We spent about an hour and half there. The location is on the 3 rd floor and parking garage is tricky. We parked by Lifetime Fitness in the parking garage and walked. We got there at opening. I liked the idea of customizing a lego minifig and so did my kid. He loves building legos and this was his favorite outing! We had a splendid visit with the Grand-Princesses! The exhibits were stunning, very detailed and a great representation of ATL. The kiddos loved the various play areas, the virtual rollercoaster, the short film and the train ride. It was a super cute activity for the girls. I'll definitely take my grandson as well. I mean I'm not basing Legoland off of if I had a good time, because it really wasn't for me, but I was with a youngling and she had a ball. You buy the tickets which started like $25, and then you come in and make a little Lego man. Or a woman lol. They have a trough full of Lego person parts to pick from. And then you wait in line to go on the shooting Lego ride. It's very slow-moving ride, they put you in a car and then you drive into a dark laser tag cut up arena. They have screens and lights and all types of stuff that tell a story. And then you go to the virtual reality ride which is actually pretty cool. They put VR goggles on you and a sits you in a chair that leans and rocks with it. So you get a really good experience. You got to be able to make sure your child can sit still for about 5 minutes or so so that matters. Next you're going to go into a model space where they have a bunch of Legos at model Atlanta landmarks. Mercedes-Benz stadium, Ponce City market, and a bunch of other Atlanta Staples. Then you go into this little play place to where you have a number of stations to build Your own LEGO toys. Of course, they have to have this. They have a room to where you can actually work with a Lego building master. They have a place that you can get food if you've come this far on your child is hungry. It's just burgers and dogs and stuff like that. They have a platform to where you could build a rocket and scan it and then it'll play a game of somewhat asteroid on a huge projector screen. And then they have a pirate ship that you can climb in as a play place. Which is actually pretty cool if you like running and jumping and climbing. Lastly they have a movie that you can sit in. It's a 3D movie that's maybe about 10 minutes long I guess. I would suggest cleaning the glasses though, I know that they are kids but the glasses were terribly dirty and unsanitized from what it look like. Or at least the glasses that we all got. That is probably the biggest thing, having glasses with something on them that they want you to put on your face when they should have heavily sanitized them. Review for a Visit Took my family to Legoland Discovery Center for a day during Winter Break. Living OTP, it's hard to get ITP to do things...but we needed something new. For a family of four, it cost just under $100 for admission alone. I purchased the Activity Pack for 4 and VR Tickets...so it was over $100. But since it was a family activity, it was worth it at the start. The Activity Pack was a Lego Man Shaped booklet that you can get stamped - 4 times & do various activities in the space from the book. I also got the kids (and husband) mini-builds. They're the small builds - like a car or an animal - that you can build. It was around $7 additional...I think the cheapest i have ever seen lego brand mini build packages are like $5 so... The VR Movie was a lot of fun...glad we purchased that. But, if you get motion sick, I wouldnt recommend. Included in admission is a ride - where you can shoot laser guns at the "bad guys"...its maybe around 10 minutes long. The room full of builds was so cool...lots of Atlanta landmarks. We chatted with a master builder and he built one of the guests suggestions while we were there. Then you go to a room where there is a cafe (dont have any experience there), a small play area for kids, and build areas...you can build cars and race them or test them on three different ramps. They have an area where they build rockets and can scan and project them onto a screen and move the rocket around. They also have an indoor playground - pirate themed. The movie is included in the price too...it's a 4-D movie (sound, wind, water spray, etc.). I'll stop there and let you experience it if you want to...worth it. So overall....it was a lot of fun but doubtful we'll make the trek back. We did do a Birthday Party... Review for Birthday Party The Birthday party cost us $820 Premium Birthday Party for 1.5 hours in a room & 2 hours in the center. We opted for a time later in the day so our party started at 3:30 and ended at 5:30 (the center closed at 6:00). The party covered admission to the center for 30 guests (birthday family included), all the included amenities listed above - ride, building & tracks, playground, rocket launcher projector and the movie. BUT THE MOVIE WASNT WORKING for us which is sad and kinda a big part of the whole thing...so that not working really made the value go down. You get a party host and they take care of everything - plates, drinks, utensils, clean up. In the party room you get a coloring paper and starbursts at each seat. the kids go play, the host manages the time. There is a "lego character" that comes in and does a dance with the kids. You cannot have candles at the Lego Discovery Center but the host has the adults turn the flashlight feature on their cell phones and those "replace the candles"...actually really creative idea. the host will help wheel the presents to the car, but we didnt need that feature. Lego Birthday Contract says you dont need to tip...so for what we paid and what we got, it was ok, still overpriced, but the kid had a lot of fun. read more

Our last visit was 7 years ago. Not much has changed. We got the general admission tickets. I paid a bit over $100 for my family of 4. I honestly thought it was too expensive for the little things you got to do. There are 2 rides, 4d movie and room where you can play a ninja game. The lady handling the front register handed each family a card with a QR code and told everyone you get a free picture. She must be new because that was a lie. You have to pay for printed photos and the packages start at $22 each. You do however, get a free digital picture if you provide your email address. Underwhelming to say the least. The venue is small, and not interactive enough. Some areas of the quest ride were not working (my son even mentioned it was "stupid"), and the VR, in my son's own words, was lame. They offer a variety of pits with Legos for building, and that is the only area where they did something worth paying for, but definitely not $25+ for. This place is more for children 2-8 years old, and the fact that they make Adults pay in order to accompany their child is outrageous. We only come to watch them, not to participate (there is nothing adult centered at this facility so why charge adults full price). If you go to an indoor jumping facility they don't make parents pay to accompany/watch their child. read more

Really cute play center for kids. If they aren't into Lego they may bore easily but they have two short VR rides, slides for small kids, and a bunch of Lego build stations. Cute for kids 8 and younger I would say. They have a mini Lego figure you can purchase/make to take on "adventures" with you around the center, with photo booths that allow you select a cute background for the figure. Most of these didn't work. They have a movie theatre which shows a Lego movie that includes the cast of the Lego Movie. It's in 3D and has an interactive competent. It looks like they also offer a build with Lego master option but these weren't available on my visit. Not much else to do but watch your kids play with Legos. I wanted to buy a ticket and continue along with my family but they wouldn't allow me in until one of my family members came out to get me. I hate to write a negative review, but the disappointment is overwhelming. Lego should be ashamed. The ride here has no warning or disclaimers, and also no age restrictions. My little boy and I hopped in excitingly and to my absolute horror, discovered that the children are supposed to hold guns and shoot the "bad guys" throughout the whole ride- literally point a gun at screens as you move around and trigger at "bad" Lego people and watch their body explode. We drove EIGHT HOURS to go here just for them to not let us in. Apparently you HAVE to have someone under 18 to be in your party. As adult Lego fans this was extremely disappointing. They offered to us that the store was still open for everyone but would NOT accept Lego points/VIP cards. The staff in the store was disengaged and rude. The cashier seemed bothered that we existed and rolled her eyes at children who were trying the interactive parts of the store. I loved it and am surprised at the low Yelp rating. We have grandsons, a 5-year-old and a 9-month-old, and both enjoyed the experience. Not as much to do for the baby of course, but he enjoyed all of the activity around him as well as the splash table. Don't know that kids over the age of 8 or so would like it as much, but even the adults had fun making a Lego tower! Be sure to look for discount coupons on Groupon before going. As my teen cousins would say, our Legolakd experience was very "mid". Quite underwhelming, but there's enough stuff there to keep the kiddos busy for a couple of hours. The kids and I had a blast. It's located inside Phillips plaza - I didn't know about parking they had a parking garage attached but I didn't know if it was free so I parked in front. You have to take the escalators or elevator to the 3rd floor and there you'll find Legoland. Quick entry after scanning tickets. All the workers had smiles and were super friendly. Upon entering there's barrels of Legos and the super nice lady described that we could create on our lego - Torso, head, hair and legs (BUT......you don't get to keep it and have to return it before you leave). They had a photo stand where you could scan your ticket and take a photo with your family. They had a virtual reality room with 6 (I think) chairs. This was an additional $6 since it wasn't Included in my ticket price. It lasted less than 5 minutes I think. The kids enjoyed it though. Theres a room where they've replicated the city of Atlanta - super cool and very detailed. Then we did this ride around interactive thing. It was super fun. You got to shoot and earn points. There was a 4d movie theater - it was really nice. The chairs didn't move, but you did get to feel weather elements. Then there was a station where you could create your own spaceship and use it on a screen. There's a lego playground where the master builder helped kids create devices to play on the set up there. Lastly there's pirate Island with slides and little jungle gym for kids. They had a softer playground for the little kids too and Legos throughout. They had a party area. They had a dining area with Starbucks too. Then the catcher - the lego store as you leave. Overall, it was very family friendly and really fun. They ask you to make a personalized Lego figurine when you first get there and then on your way out, THEY TAKE IT FROM YOUR CHILD. And gave us a white lego that said "grand opening" to replace it. This review is specifically for the "adults only" nights at LegoLand Discovery Center, which are apparently not a thing anymore despite the LegoLand website selling pre-ordered tickets. These events are supposed to occur every third Thursday per the website (since adults who don't have kids can't visit normally), so my partner and I who are big adult fans of lego wanted to go and purchased tickets in advance. When we showed up on June 16 for our pre-slotted time of 7 pm, the gates were locked with nobody around. We waited with a group of about 6-8 other people who also booked tickets, tried to call and message the store on Facebook with no response. Thankfully the AMC in the mall saved what was a pretty awful start to a date night. I am giving one star back to LegoLand in my review since after messaging and calling the store a few times the next day the manager called me back and explained that they had cancelled the adult nights for an indefinite period of time but that wasn't reflected on the website. She promptly refunded us the money and told me she was going to proactively call the other affected guests, which is a good gesture. I just hope they fix the website in the future (or adult adult Lego fans see my review) so you avoid this headache! read more

Took my 6 year old here for his birthday and he was so entertained! Loved the "build your rocket" section where you could scan your LEGO creation into a simple space video game and blow up asteroids. Would definitely do it again. And the woman who checked us in was very helpful. Despite reading questionable reviews before going, our hopes were high that this would be a fun place to visit while we were in town because our kids are really into LEGO. (We've spent several hundred dollars on various sets in the past few months!) We saw a Groupon...and thank God for that because if we had paid full price I would've been demanding my money back. LEGOland is in Phipps Plaza which is a really fancy mall and the attraction looks really nice from the outside. There was no line but when we approached the counter, no one greeted us. The girl working basically just stared at us. My husband told her we had a Groupon and she acted annoyed. Never smiled, said she hoped we had fun or offered us the scavenger hunt add on. After we went in and saw someone else with the lanyard we wondered if we needed one so I went back and asked her and she said it was optional...so when I said we would like 5 of them she said I owed $25. I just walked away. In the beginning there's a part that explains how LEGO are made. That part was kind of cool. You can also measure your height and weight in LEGO blocks. There's also a room with Atlanta landmarks made out of LEGO. That was cool...but honestly the displays in the LEGO store in NYC are way better and that's free to go into. The rest of it was disappointing. The ride where you get to shoot lasers would've been fun if 3 out of our 5 lasers hadn't been broken. The other ride that spins was pretty fun but the play areas were for younger kids. The 4D movie has some cool effects but you need to sit in the back to experience them. We were in the second row and didn't get the water or "snow". The glasses also didn't jive with the screen so I had to close one eye the whole time so it wasn't blurry. But shout out to Jamika for saving the day because a crowd was waiting and the doors never opened but she got it up and running. She was the friendliest employee by far. There weren't enough LEGO pieces in the area where you build a car and race it. There weren't any characters walking around like the website shows. The gift shop wasn't stocked very well...maybe because Christmas was last week. The prices weren't terrible except for the reusable bag I refused to pay $6 for. But the LEGO sets were on par with prices at Target. Overall I would say this place needs a lot of improvement. Getting employees who actually care about guests having a good time would be a start. My daughter was also disappointed that there weren't any LEGO friends activities. It was mostly Ninjago. If you insist on going, do yourself a favor and eat in the mall food court rather than the cafe. Overpriced and underwhelming . A bunch of kids running around and playing the same things without masks on. We'll barely any. There's obviously not a mask requirement. There's a big room with a Lego city. There are high rise buildings, trains and automobiles. The football stadium doesn't work. Nor do the trains run. There's one ride that was working (Merlin's Apprentice). The other ride, I'm not sure if it works but it wasn't running. I'm not sure which age grow up this place is for but the play pen had a bunch of older kids running around. Like 7-13 yr olds. I thought they were too big to be playing in there. read more

Anyone who thinks they're good at making stuff with LEGOs will go here and be utterly embarrassed of their master builder skills. They have the coolest things made of legos here. They have a miniature downtown Atlanta built completely of legos and the buildings were as tall as I am (I'm 5'10''). It's seriously very impressive what they've done with LEGOs here. They have rides here like a theme park but the rides aren't that great and one of them, supposedly the best one, was down at the time. They have a place where you can build your own car or boat out of LEGOs and then you can test them and race them on a racetrack or in a large water tub, river looking thing. The thing I liked best here was that everything has a red button to make the LEGOs do stuff or to make something move, and my inner child came out and I just ran around pushing the red buttons we've always been told were not allowed to push. Now for the negatives and the reason it's only three stars. They have a full service deli/cafe there but no one actually works there so it's a tease. I went there to buy a bottle of water and then an employee told me to go buy water from the shop, so I did and then they wouldn't let me back into the park and I had to explain what happened and it still took me a while to get back in. I almost had to break into LEGOLAND to get back to my family. And lastly the employees there are stuck in first gear and look perpetually confused as to what they're supposed to be doing. We checked out at the shop at the end and there were four people standing around one register trying to figure out how to ring things up and it took forever. All four of them were moving in literal slow motion and it annoyed the living crap out of me. It was like watching sloths pushing buttons and putting things into bags. read more

Came here for a birthday party at 10am on a Sunday. I was actually surprised they were open and not busy. This is the first time visiting here, maybe because I never want to fight the traffic to come from Alpharetta. I wasn't sure what to expect, was this a LEGO store? A LEGO store with characters? Well, all I can say is that it is a mini LegoLand. We have been to the legoland park in Florida and the kids love it. This place has the same shooting target ride and a mini flying ride. Along with tunnels (the outdoor ones that mcDonald's has). Tons of legos to play with and even stuff for the tiny kids. My son is 8 and I'm sure he will love this place. My 6yo daughter loved it. A great place for birthday parties but I'm sure it comes at at pretty penny. I will definitely be back on another Sunday morning with my two kids. A rainy day would be perfect. We could stay here for hours and be entertained. Best part is that one admission fee gets u rides and legos, no extra costs which is nice. Legoland discovery center is a great place to take kids. I would have never imagined the amount of things there is to do there. The center is located inside of Phipps plaza. I would say that it is definitely more geared toward children that loves lego. There are more building and creating opportunities than anything else here and if your kid is not a lego fan, they will not have a good time. Unlike maybe the Legoland Florida resort where , due to all the rides, kids will have fun regardless. The whole experience is great as there are many interactive stations including a ninjago training camp and an option to see how lego are made and how many lego you weigh. Pro tip: apparently the proper term for more than one lego is still lego! :) There is also 2 rides. One is dark ride inside that is similar to buzz light year at Disney world or the justice league ride at six flags. The second ride is similar to your standard "dumbo" type ride that goes around in a circle. The only catch is that you actually have to pedal yourself if you want the ride to go higher. Talk about a workout. I did enjoy the VR ride they have there of a MARIO type racing game. It was very lifelike. However, to ride the rides, there is an xtra fee. They also have a play area with slides and climbing areas for the kids to play in while parents sit around and watch. There is also a food court that seemed to have pretty good prices and food. They also offer party spaces for rent as well as you can purchase the option to attend a lego building class with a master builder! Great experience. My favorite part was the huge room with life size lego of Atlanta. They had mega builds of landmarks like the Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain, MLK jr house and even the new Mercedes Benz stadium. I could easily spend at least an hour checking out all those details . Keep in mind however that you cannot enjoy Legoland without a child. They do not allow adults in without one. read more

I was surprised and hesitant to go because of some of the bad reviews. The website states that this Legoland is geared more for smaller children. Adults cannot even enter the attraction without a child with them. It is meant for a younger audience but there are still some things to enjoy as an adult. The first thing you do is build a little mini figure. Don't worry there are not a million options. There are just a handful of choices for torso, legs, head and hair/hat. It's still really neat and there is a machine that will take a picture of your character and you can create a scene with stickers. Then you get a QR code so you can save it on your phone. There is a picture booth if you chose to buy those but it's easy to skip if you did not. This leads to the ride attraction. It is super neat for smaller kids and can fit up to 5 people. It's not a crazy ride but you get to shoot all the zombies and ghouls to save the princess. You get a score of you are the competitive type but it goes away right as your coming back so snap a picture if you really care about it. Just make sure you don't have flash on because they say no flash photography. You get a picture taken in there as well on the third screen, I believe. My kids loved this and rode it twice as it was not very crowded when we went. There is a VR section next for smaller kids but you must pay for this and my kids were not very interested in it. So we skipped it. The next room is really for the older kids and adults. The legos are amazingly built and there are some really neat features. The legos are all buildings and spots around Atlanta and it was super neat. My son loves the Spider-Man hanging from the buildings and my daughter loved the Atlanta Zoo. The interactive buttons do not all work but it did not lessen the experience there. We were given free ice cream sandwiches from the little food court place which was super nice. Then they played in the little play area for Duplo legos. It had a little dinosaur merry go round that you spin manually, a slide and areas to play with legos. The next area was being able to build your own race cars or cars in order to take them down 3 different types of ramps. The volcano one is definitely the most difficult and really cool for the older kids to try to complete. This is the area we spent the most time in because you could sit and keep creating different cars to try out. This was great for adult to play with their kids the most or at least for our family. Beside the car building was a spaceship build. You can build a spaceship and then put it into this little game machine to blast it off on a big projector. We weren't the biggest fans of this one because it took time to figure out and the kids were a little impatient with it because they just wanted it to blast off and steer it. This one is probably better for the older kids. We went to the 3D movie and it was a short little show but it was engaging and certainly worth the watch. There's a lot of lights and air blowing and they do warn about the lights in case anyone has an issue with it. As a side note: The 3D glasses were gross... I'm sure they do a quick swipe or spray but if you have a baby wipe or a tissue or anything it would probably be in your best interest. This was my only true negative for the whole experience and I didn't think this small issue was enough to take away a full star. The last thing to do was the little playground. There is one slide and the rest is like an obstacle course but nothing too difficult. There was also 4 building stations inside there so the kids had the freedom to build whatever they wanted. At one point near the end of our time there they opened up their party rooms to everyone which had coloring pages and legos to build with as well. I thought that was neat because we were almost done and then we had one more activity to do. A pirate Lego mascot also came out and took pictures with the kids and waved. After reading through some of the reviews I thought we would only be there for 45 minutes and it seemed a little expensive for that but online said plan for 2 hours. Well we were there for 3 hours and my kids enjoyed every minute of it. We built a lot of things and did not have to wait to use anything. I believe on the weekends it could get too crowded and not be as fun since kids would have to wait for a bit for a turn on things and lose their patience. I would recommend going during the week if at all possible. I did add on the mini figures. I'm guessing there a multiple different ones but we got two girls and thankfully just held the ponytail off of one of them so it looked more boyish. I would skip this and build your own in the shop. Guys come on!! This place is overpriced for the experience!! It's not worth it!! Let's start with check-in.. I'll say a 3/5. The lego 15 min movie was cute. The ride was enjoyable but there's no instruction when it comes to building. Employees aren't sanitizing AT ALL!! They are currently raking the used Legos back into the bucket - which have not been sanitized. Aren't we battling Covid? This is absurd. It's like a cesspool of germs. The same legos we just played with and turned the red sign over we're just out back into the bin then the green sign flipped. Oh and the VR goggles weren't cleaned between people either.
