Very disappointing experience early on, made somewhat better by a few standout employees and good installation.

In the meantime, our cast iron bar stools swiveled into the edge of the bar, causing chips in the main Formica countertop. It finally felt like the right time to make the change. Edan at Midwest Marble and Granite helped me select attractive elements like the sink, faucet, quartz material, and backsplash ceramic tile. Because of her experience as an interior decorator, I really valued her insights. On installation day, I was truly impressed by Jake, Carlos, and the team. They worked tirelessly to remove the old countertops and backsplash and to ensure the heavy new countertops were perfectly aligned and level. I had no idea how physically demanding this work could be. The next day, during backsplash installation, the same praise goes to Patrick, Frank, Eddie, and Austin. They spent hours bending over the counters, meticulously cutting, placing, and grouting ceramic tiles on four walls. That has to be backbreaking, especially for someone as tall as Frank! Midwest Marble and Granite transformed my kitchen with high-quality materials that were expertly installed in a timely and friendly manner. What more could I want?

Although there were some scheduling issues along the way, that's to be expected with any small contracting company. They did amazing work at a great price. Cabinets are still unstained and the drawer glides on the drawer underneath gas top broke about a month after installation. The 2 doors that open against the oven and fridge enclosures bang because of poor design and I had to pay another electrician to wire all the outlets because it was not done even though I paid Chris Reyes(the owner) up front for it. He never showed my his Insurance I asked for it several times and another contractor came in to replace all the moulding which was a different wood than I had ordered and because of all the knots in the wood(different grade than I paid for) I cannot stain it it has to be painted because of the imperfections in the lower quality wood. Poor workmanship and the bar cabinets had to taken down and shimmed because of the huge gap left by Chris's team it wasn't uneven as they claimed. A mess simply a huge mess and I after $20,000+ I don't have the kitchen completed even now no warranty on the granite as he guaranteed they did not finish because of incompetence and did not complete on time it was a month later. Very sad business.

But I wasn't buying one of their very fine table pieces - or their cross sections for whatever tickles you fancy. No, I was picking through their scrap pile in the back! It's about the size of a school bus, and it's basically non-precious cuts left over, or cuts too thin to be utilized in their impressive showroom otherwise. They charge around $9 per piece - I bought a 7 foot walnut slab to transform into a wall-mounted coat rack. Cost me $9.50. They'll also clean it up, plane it, and cut it down for a fee. I didn't do it, but it's nice to know they're so accommodating. They're definitely in a location that's a pain to park in front of if you're coming up the hill from the west - as there's a double line, and no turn around for over a mile. But once you make it - and though their place is wildly unrefined - you'll find a sort of boutique lumber mill of accommodating patronage. I'll definitely be back to visit. The wood's fair, the help is knowledgeable, and the stock is spectacular. You'd do well to visit too!

The died lumber indoor is pricier, but still a bargain. Super nice folks and a great selection. Very good website for this sort of operation too...
