My daughter loves Legendary Martial Arts and I love it too. We found Legendary Martial Arts shortly after the dojo she had been training at switched to Japanese Jiu Jitsu and that style wasn't match for my daughter. I was devastated but my friends told me Legendary is an awesome place and to try it out. I am so glad I took their advice because from the very beginning they have worked with my daughter and challenged her (in good ways). I have seen my daughter's confidence grow and she loves all of the instructors. I love that they not only teach karate expect the kids to be respectful and that the preach team work. Those are exactly what I was looking for when we decided to try another karate studio. We have also enjoyed the bully prevention workshops (which my daughter uses in school now) and other activities that they host on a regular basis. I also like that my daughter can attend multiple times a week and it gives her a positive environment to grow and thrive in. They also have adult karate (which I often consider but haven't made the jump yet), but if you are looking for a karate home - you should definitely give Legendary a try. read more

Mr and Mrs Thornton are the best! The kids that go to Legendary are their priority. They instill character into their curriculum and live it out in front of their students: Respect, honesty, etc. My youngest has a black belt and grew more confident with the program and socially. They do forms, weapons, board breaking, self-defense, sparring and leadership. We didn't compete but I have friends who do and say it's a ton of fun. It can get pricey. That's the only draw back. They offer classes for preschool to adults. read more

Legendary Martial Arts is a great place for my son to learn discipline and respect. They have awesome instructors and a flexible schedule.

This school is amazing. They perfect their students skills and adapt the training to specifically help each athlete. They are not a cookie cutter one style fits all facility. Every lesson is like having a private lesson with highly skilled instructors. There is a reason so many champions come out of this facility. I wish we had found them years ago! read more

We have two toddlers ages 3 and 4. As a mommy I love seeing them try new things and I enjoy giving them something to look forward to. New experiences, activities, and socializing with someone other than myself is so healthy. Thank goodness for Yelp I was able to get information and see the awesome reviews for this place. I had to check it out! This is the only tenant of this corner space that has stayed in business this long since this shopping center opened. I do not have any expectations other than our girls being happy and having fun. Their first day here I got all choked up. I had tears in my eyes watching them and the other children learn and perform tasks. I have always been that way and I do not know why. Even when they are not mine I get all mushy and happy. Their toddler classes are 30 minutes long. They welcomed us to start when ever we like, but recommended once they had their end session testing. We signed up for a 30 day trial to see how they liked it. It was a very generous offer that included a uniform. The instructor leads the children in a positive manner teaching self control, respect, and how to be trustworthy; very good character traits. There are other leaders who help new little ones like ours follow directions or how to do the moves correctly during the class so the class can keep moving and no one is left behind. Every one leading didna fantastic job. All of thr kids did too! Our littlest one who instigated this adventure started out great and then ended up hiding in my lap after a while. Our older daughter one went to town! Legendary Martial Arts does not just cater to little ones! They have serious classes for every age whether you want to get fit, challenge yourself or straight up compete! This is a very special place ran by very special people. Hopefully they will continue to enjoy it here so we they can continue to grow! read more

We are new to Legendary Martial Arts. So far, our three boys are thrilled and cannot wait until the next day to go to karate. The owners are very down to earth, easy to talk with and show genuine concern for the kids. I hope this continues! We are very happy with them! read more

How do you delight a teenager? You empower him. I enrolled my three youngest in this program and while they are new enough that their uniforms are still crisp white, I am already seeing a difference. The instructor,Jonathan Thornton, is excellent with kids. He is patient, observant and responsive. New students are quickly integrated into the class activities. This is a program with a place for everyone. There are classes six days a week. This evening we had an active shooter class where older teens and adults were instructed in disarming an attacker. The students got the program quite easily. The attendees are varied in age and ability. Care is taken to match partners but there are plenty of opportunities to work with other students. Krav Maga and Cross Fit are also taught in addition to Tae Kwan Do. read more

I could not be happier that I decided to take a leap and sign my girls up for a trial membership. After a week we officially signed up and became part of the Legendary family. Cannot say enough amazing things about the staff at this place. My son (4) has been very slow to warm up to the process and has had many tearful outbursts during sessions. The staff have been incredibly patient, worked with him and given him the time he needs, while also pushing him out of his comfort zone. The program is excellent and the atmosphere is welcoming. read more

The instructors are funny and great with kids. My son loves going. He has gained confidence and determination.

We love Legendary Martial Arts! We have seen such a profound change in our 5 year old. We are so happy to have found such an awesome place!

My son attended classes and loved it. We chose not to continue with classes because of the cost. It is very overpriced.

We love Legendary ATA. We have several children, most of whom are taking classes at this school. All of them love the Thorntons as well as the other assistant instructors. The environment is respectful and fun. Mr. Thornton works his students hard, and the results are the pay off. We could not be happier with our investment in our children, and look forward to seeing where their skills take them. read more

The owner/instructor, Mr. Thornton is amazing with the kids. My girls (age 4 and 6) have gained so much confidence from taking the leadership and Tae Kwon Do classes. They have also gotten much stronger over the last year they have taken classes. This is such a great place we have in our community and the camps/parents night out they run are fantastic. My kids love them! read more

My son loves it here. I can see The big change in him from the first day he started. Our goal was for him to learn how to focus and follow instructions.. now he is goal oriented and aims to graduate and earn his belts. This place has given my son the understanding of listening and doing things right away. Before he cant even stay put or stand where he is suppose to stand. Before he is all over the place and laughs and goofs around all the time. Now he can stay put and knows where he should be standing and knows how to respect the place. Now he is on his third belt. Thanks Legendary Martial Arts! read more

Our son has been attending for a few short weeks but we have already seen such a huge improvement in his attention span and determination. Not only does the instructor teach Tae Kwon Do skills, but also life skills (right now they're working on respect). Mr. Thornton has an amazing way of connecting with each and every participant and making them feel important. We look forward to watching the continued growth our son achieves through this program. read more

I am transfer student. I also have four kids enrolled in the program at Legendary. Firstly, I want to say this place is a family environment. Feeling like you belong somewhere is invaluable. When your kids feel that way, it is the ultimate bonus. I enjoy training here with my kids and Mr. Jonathan Thornton takes time with the students. He does not tolerate misbehavior and deals with it swiftly. He also provides a path back to redemption too! My kids range from ages 7 to 16; 2 boys, 2 girls and they all love training at this facility. But, it really is more than just a building. It is a place of acceptance, balance and pride. We all are encouraged to go passed what we believe we can do, but that is because Mr. Thornton believes in you before you believe in yourself. He also fosters an environment of support, camaraderie and hard work. I could not imagine training anywhere else. read more

Legendary Martial Arts - I had to do a jump flying side kick to break my board for Black belt graduation. I also had to do it jumping over my four kids. - Martial Arts Near Me - Surprise, Arizona

From the moment we walked in we have been treated like family. Everyone knew my kiddos name right away and have helped him at every turn. The instructor takes pride in what he does and expects his students to do the same. I love how he expects them to listen but takes the time to listen to them also. I've been impressed he even takes the time to shake hands every class and always says hello to all my children even the ones not taking a class. He even takes the time to address my 2 yr old and wait patiently for him to respond. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to help their kiddos learn respect control and confidence. read more

Love this place. I was looking for a place for my son and daughter who are both autistic. From the very start Jonathan was completely understanding about everything. When my son has any problems all I do is talk with Jonathan and we come up with a plan on how to fix things. My son loves it here. Since he has started here he has more confidence and a bit more control over his temper. He can't wait to go and wants to always do his best to impress. When just a few short months ago my son would barely leave the house. I love how this place has helped bring my son out of his shell some. We still have a long road ahead but I know being here is a good start for my son. I want to encourage other parents with autistic children to give this a shot. I know how scary it is just being a parent but to be a parent to children with disabilities is even harder and scarier. But there are ways to help your child and I'm sure this is one of those ways. I also want to say this is not just about how to defend yourself which don't get me wrong I love that. But it also teaches them respect, honor, control, self confidence, life skills, interaction, and a big one for children with autism is social skills. He's got better with all of these already. read more
