Since my review keeps getting deleted. I do NOT want someone to have to go through what we did. My experience at this property was unacceptable and raised serious concerns regarding tenant rights, habitability, and management practices. While management and maintenance were initially responsive, communication and action significantly declined after we provided notice of non-renewal, suggesting selective responsiveness based on tenant status.
There was also an incident in which staff behaved in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner toward an individual assisting me during move-out. This conduct reflects poorly on management oversight and tenant relations.
Maintenance requests were not properly addressed. Staff refused to enter the unit despite our dog being securely kenneled as instructed, and repeated pest control services failed to resolve ongoing issues. Additionally, a malfunctioning garbage disposal remained unresolved despite multiple requests.
A particularly serious issue involved our mailbox being inaccessible for approximately three weeks. During this time, we were completely unable to retrieve our mail, which may constitute interference with mail access and basic tenant services.
There were also substantial concerns regarding the condition of the unit at move-in and throughout the lease. The apartment had a strong odor of animal urine upon occupancy, and visible mold was present. Requests for proper inspection and testing--specifically for black mold--were denied. Management indicated that results would be provided, yet none have been received to date. Notably, a neighboring tenant vacated due to severe mold contamination that resulted in property damage, which they personally documented and shared.
Security on the property is inadequate. We experienced a break-in, and subsequently our front door camera was obstructed. Due to ongoing safety concerns, we were forced to install and continuously operate an interior surveillance system.
Additionally, there are ongoing issues with aggressive animals within the community that appear to be insufficiently controlled. During winter weather conditions, the property failed to implement basic safety measures such as salting walkways and driving areas, creating hazardous conditions for residents.
After move-out, we took extensive photos and videos of the unit because we anticipated potential disputes regarding charges. As expected, we were charged for two allegedly "broken" windows. We provided clear evidence showing that one of the windows was not broken, yet management attempted to dismiss this by claiming our photo was from move-in--which is inaccurate, as it was taken just three days prior to move-out. Despite multiple requests, they have refused to remove these charges.
Additionally, we were informed--per the lease we originally signed--that $200 of our pet deposit would be refunded. However, management later presented lease stating that no refund would be issued. This raises serious concerns regarding transparency and documentation practices. We have made repeated attempts to resolve these discrepancies, but management has not taken corrective action.
At this point, this is not about the money. It is about the principle and the pattern of behavior. We had concerns that issues like this might arise once we chose not to renew our lease, and unfortunately, those concerns proved to be valid.
Overall, this property demonstrates a pattern of neglect in addressing maintenance obligations, safety concerns, and tenant well-being. Prospective tenants should carefully evaluate these issues, as they may reflect broader failures to meet basic standards of habitability and reasonable care. read more
