Photos of the apartment featuring a beautiful roof top pool with a spectacular view, and a modern and well appointed suite were forwarded and I booked, paying the full fee in advance by the only method they would accept, international wire transfer! The suite was ok, but despite booking for two singles - only bedding for one bed was available, and one key - really inconvenient for two travelers. For the first 3 days there was only cold water, and access to the roof top pool was not possible with our key, and despite being promised a "new"key we waited, and our requests were ignored. We could have stayed at a luxury beach front hotel for the rate we were paying, but got limited bedding, moldy dish racks and bathroom plugs, cold water, no pool access, only one towel each for the duration of our stay, and then to top it off - no return of our $250 Euro deposit! I was told to send my wire transfer information, and then Maria emailed to say she was on holiday for the next few months, and then nothing. Completely unprofessional - the only downside of a great holiday - Cascais and Portugal are lovely, but avoid BuenaVista rentals and Maria Assuncao Carvalho - unless you want to be ripped off.

With 34 days notice, I emailed the hotel to let them know I needed to cancel. I did not hear back from them, so proceeded to call the hotel with 33 days notice. The receptionist at the hotel verified that she had cancelled the reservation over the phone. I made alternative non-refundable plans to visit a different city, then received an email stating that my reservation was non-refundable, and that the original email from the hotel stating the 7 day cancellation policy, plus the telephone cancellation, were both "regrettably made by (their) human error". They claim that they sent a second email that "may be in my spam folder". I would not have made an alternate plan, had their policies been aligned. It is absolutely unacceptable that this hotel is not owning up to their two human errors.

Couldn't use it for the first day because we woke up too late for breakfast. Then when I asked T**** if he couldn't compensate or do something about the 40 Euros, T**** said there is nothing he could (or would) do. Maybe he could have asked me for my room number to confirm that we didn't eat breakfast. So, in the future, don't buy the breakfast option in advance. Based on T**** lack of interest in knowing my room number, it seems that you could probably just stroll in and eat. As a side note, the maid didn't refill my coffee and I had to ask for the regular, non-decaf coffee and for the two daily complimentary water bottles. On second thought, don't stay here. You are betting off staying in town instead of being held hostage in this remote, expensive, badly trained staff at this hotel.

It's only open from 4-7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It's inside in the winter, but extends outside when the weather warms. Cost is reasonable and the hostess speaks very good English. The tea room is located in a bed and breakfast in the center of Cascais, half a block from the railroad station.
