We wanted to upgrade our stairs with oak and iron balusters. We found Legacy Stairs and called for a quote. Scott showed up when he said he would, gave us an explanation on what he could do for us. Scott showed up and removed the old railings and balusters on a Monday. Matt was here on Tuesday and Wednesday and installed the new base boards, rails, and molding. Jaime came Thursday and Friday and stained all the wood. Scott was back on Saturday to install the iron balusters. By Saturday afternoon the Job was done and everything looked better than we could have imagined. Scott, Matt and Jaime were awesome, they were personable, professional and kept the house clean. We are very happy with Scott and the staircase. Scott was very helpful in showing us different products that they use for the staircases. They were prompt in starting the job. Matt is very skillful in the Hardwood and it shows in the quality that he puts into the stairs. The staining of the staircase came out good and overall I'm happy. The dust and the fumes can get a little heavy but that's pretty much normal. Jaime and his guys did everything they could to keep the dust and the fumes down. Scott went above and beyond and fit me in to help replace my wood balusters with iron ones, just in time for my holiday party. And, I was unable to restrain my bannisters before then --so he came back after Christmas so I could complete my job. He uninstalled and reinstalled again--just to help me out! We used Scott to redo our old oak balusters. We got bids from several contractors but he was the one who stood out. He came by quickly, he gave us a written quote right away, he spent time explaining all the nuisances of the install and when we selected a more exotic iron baluster; he immediately ordered complete samples (with his own money!) and drilled holes in sample wood to show us exactly how it would look and how he would install them! No one else made even half this effort. We had a quick deadline because of holiday guests arriving, so on the install and rail prep; he worked from early morning until past 10 at night to make sure the entire project was done in time! His work was first rate and he showed a tremendous amount of attention to detail. And we really appreciate him completing the job on such a short deadline. read more

I asked a general contractor, a handyman and a wood work contractor to give me an estimate on a stair redo. None of them got back to me, apparently it seems that the work is beyond their comfort level. I'm so glad I found Scott to give me an estimate in a day or two along with back and forth discussion about the esthetics of what I had a hard time envisioning. I appreciate his patience with my initial indecisiveness. With Scott's professional guidance, I ended up redoing our 28 year old worn brown oak and white baluster stairs with a glossy black and white handrail and post with iron knuckle style balusters. It's a bolder look that turned out stunning. I enjoy just sitting and looking at our new beautiful stairwell! Scott recommended us saving money by painting instead of staining. It seemed like an expensive project, but there is a lot of prep and handiwork involved in getting amazing results.
