When you hire someone to do a remodel, it is important that you trust the person you ultimately hire to know what he is doing. That is the foundation of trusting them to get the job done right. Vince both met and exceeded those expectations when we hired Glenn Construction to remove an old fireplace and set up a TV wall. It came out beautifully crafted with clean lines and solidly matching the existing crownwork and moldings. The room looks like it's always been like this only now with a fresh coat of paint. Vince and his crew did the job right and that appraisal comes from a retired construction superintendent with well over 45 years experience building large scale multifamily projects. After getting several bids from people who ether wrote their number on the back of a matchbook or gave no real upfront price I had almost given up on finding a professional contractor to do the work. Vince offered a proposal with a defined scope with each item listed so I knew what I was getting at each stage of the work. It was a refreshing change from the "I'll give you a good price" guys who try to sell you the proverbial 'cat in a bag'. If they don't write it down, how do you know what they are supposed to do? Aside from doing great work kept the dust down and protected the rest of the house while the work was being done. After the contract was signed my wife expressed a concern about their being a wall open to the outside between demo and the completion of the replacement wall. Without asking for an extra, Vince had the guys close the opening up each night with plywood until the work closed it in the natural course of construction. To me that is an A+ Contractor. Like half the country it seems, we decided to take advantage of the work from home time during the pandemic to get our bathrooms redone. We had a very rough idea of what we wanted to do, but more specifically, what we didn't want. I took a chance on Vince based on other Yelp reviews, and because the pictures available showed several small bathrooms like ours that looked great. We couldn't be happier with the results. From giving us some ideas where we didn't know what would look good, to having quality subs to do the shower pan, tile work, and the wonderful custom cabinets. We opted for some higher end features like all glass doors, and the dual head shower valve in the master. All of it turned out great, and he kept us up to date as we waited for parts to come in during the Great Supply Chain Crisis of 2021/2022. What sets Vince apart for us is that not only did he do a great job, but a year later a crack developed in some tiles in our master bath, apparently due to failed or missing mesh tape on a joint. After wading (pun from the fridge flood) through four contractor estimates, and numerous insurance adjustors, we were finally ready to get work done on our home after our kitchen flooded from our fridge. The largest undertaking was to completely rip out the mushy flooring, and damaged walls. We initially had another company begin the project in July of 2020, however they had spent the majority of "mold remediation" funds through contacting our insurance directly and with ONLY one company on testing. This was against our directions and we had this company pick up their drying equipment, paid them and sent them packing. Vince from Glenn Construction was the second contractor who came to meet with us and after a long walk through, came back with a quote. The third contractor came but never provided a formal quote that we could have in hand, only a verbal. Since this is not something we could provide to our insurance, I decided this was not a very good business policy. The fourth contractor came but followed-up with a quote that was higher than all others. Luckily, in between the third and fourth contractor estimates, I asked my husband to try calling Vince back and meet with him. My husband was not happy about the request but did it anyway. We had a fifth contractor but he gave us the same estimate, and we preferred to go with a local contractor instead. And that is how we chose Vince. He quickly made estimate adjustments on the spot to some thoughts we had, provided an updated estimate right then and was able to give us a timeline of when he was available to start. From that meeting, we were happy and decided to move forward with a deposit to Glenn Construction. The project in total took two months to complete. Throughout this time, we were kept informed of the progress. Vince came regularly to oversee the work or complete work himself. At one point, we had three contractors working simultaneously to get the job done on time. As with any large renovation, there were unexpected issues that resulted in questions, a couple of change orders, and adjustments to our original plans. But Glenn Construction worked with us and managed through all issues with patience and professionalism. We noticed a few items after all was said and done (and paid) and Vince came right back a couple of days later to fix those items and make sure we were happy. The workers that came through our home were all very nice and left the property clean at the end of every day. The sub-contractors were all amazing. They were knowledgeable and addressed every detail to ensure that we had the home we had envisioned. I do have to make special mention of Noey, Chuck, George and JonE (Stasya Corp/InStyle Tile Boutique) -- what a great team to work with! No matter how tired they were, every detail was as perfect as it could possibly be.
