It's been 3 years since we first started coming to Legacy and seeing Dr. Penfield and we are just as pleased now as we were back then. We are really good about getting in every six months for cleanings, so we see them at least twice a year. I had an emergency procedure done at one point and most recently a couple of poorly seated crowns replaced. Dr. P and his staff are so polite, gentle and patient! During the procedure, I had an asthma attack that scared me a bit, but they were super fast to take care of me, grabbing my inhaler out of my purse and gave me some time to recouperate before getting after it again. They do their best to make an uncomfortable experience as pleasant as possible... Netflix, Hulu, Disney+... heated massage chairs... weighted blankets... it's pretty darn comfortable! Brenna has been my hygienist this year and I wouldn't trade her!! She's ridiculously sweet and so very gentle! Before you know it, you're done and ready to go! When we booked appointments for next summer, I reiterated to her that I wanted to be with her. I'm big on the relationships built with my healthcare providers. I know some don't care, my husband is good with anyone in the office and in reality, I'm okay with it too; but I really like having someone to look forward to seeing every six months! read more

I've had dentists in four other states, and Dr. Penfield and his staff are simply the best I've ever seen! I have significant anxiety around dental visits, but Dr. Penfield has made that so much better. Not only is he the best dentist I've ever had, but he genuinely cares about his patients and their comfort. He offers laughing gas for no additional charge and always makes sure you are comfortable before starting any work. What sets Dr. Penfield apart is that he and his team never pressure you into making decisions. They present all the options and ensure you fully understand everything before proceeding with any treatment. Their commitment to patient education and comfort is truly exceptional. If you have a kid this is the place ti take them very aware of how to make a kid feel ok about the dentist

All 5 of my family went to get a checkup and cleaning. The hygienist I had talked very condescending to me insisting I had "almost cavities" that needed to be taken care of right away. These "almost cavities" were in the X-rays from 5 years ago and have not changed. Our last dentist we had for the 4 years (in a different state) made no mention of these and they had taken X-rays as well. Legacy Dental Arts was trying to upsell me something I did not need. My husband's appointment was made specifically early in the morning so he could go to work afterwards. The cleaning appointment lasted 2 hours and made him very late for work. The hygienist he had also tried to upsell him on replacing old fillings that do not bother him. Again, his last military dentist made no mention of this. On top of that, the hygienist scalded his gums and tongue when she used very hot water in the jet thing used to clean the teeth. He came home with blisters on his gums and side of his tongue. The hygienist tried to upsell my college age kid on special toothpaste and mouthwash. He had no cavities or issues, but was it was impressed heavily on him that he needed them. He is a college kid with college kid income. We will not return to this establishment. read more

The best dentist place I've been to so far. Everyone who works here is so nice. They let you watch Netflix during your visit and the chairs are massage chairs. They also give you little chapsticks which I love. I wish I could come every month for a cleaning. Legacy is one of the only places I'll miss when I leave Alaska. read more

I've always Hated going to the dentist because of uncomfortable, painful & miserable experiences I've had at other dental offices throughout my life. Once we moved to Alaska, I chose to go to Legacy Dental Arts based on 2 of my coworkers referring me. I've been so pleased with the services they've provided me. You're always greeted with a friendly smile from Amanda; Cari and Kelly are so nice and accommodating - they ensure I'm comfortable when getting my teeth cleaned or getting my tooth worked on. Dr. Penfield is great too - I came in on the wrong day one time for my appt (oops!) and he still fit me in so I didn't have to come back! So accommodating. I love the hand oil treatments too when you get your teeth cleaned - it's truly like going to a spa. I really enjoy coming here and will be bummed when the Army moves us again because that means I'll have to find a new dentist. Great team! read more

Truly wonderful people at Legacy Dental. I hadn't been to a dentist office for five years due to a bad experience with a military dentist; I was reluctant to go to any dental office even though I had been having tooth pain for several years. A friend recommended this office to me and I finally went in. I'm sorry I waited so long. Cari the hygienist and Dr. Penfield were absolutely wonderful. I had almost no discomfort during the deep cleaning and fillings and best of all, the pain I had been experiencing for the past 3 years is now gone!
