Their service has gone down hill. I've attached a letter I sent them. I wasn't important enough to even get a call or the issue addressed. I don't think anyone, especially your mother should be treated like this. Left Fork Grill, 68 West 3900 South Dear Manager/Owner, I've been a patron of your establishment for several years. Your restaurant as been a stable place to get a bite to eat for lunch with co-workers, meeting up with friends and an easy place to take my mother for a bite to eat. On Thursday December 9, 2021, I brought my mother in for Lunch/Breakfast. The restaurant was not busy. Which was kind of a surprise because usually your place is hopping. I noted that there were only about five tables with customers in the whole restaurant. All sitting spread out in the front south section. We were promptly seated by the waitress and she escorted us back to the north room, which was completely empty of people. She said it was nice and cozy, but she seated us in a booth blowing cold air. My mother wanted to move to another table because she was cold, and I told her to wait for the waitress and we could ask to be moved to the front of the restaurant. We looked at the Menu, and decided what we wanted. As we sat there, looking at the menu, a couple came in and was seated in the booths up front. That's when I noted that there were two waitress's and they were talking about filling the fry sauce. I watched as the couple got their drink order. Then a group of three men came in, they were seated in the end booth to the far south. Those customers got their drinks promptly and their order taken. In the meantime, I watched the waitress who seated us refill coffees in her section, we made eye contact, I knotted my head indicating we were ready. My mother and I sat there chatting, as I notice the waitress bringing out the food for the table by the wall next to the front door. Again, I made eye contact with the same waitress. I just figured she was busy with getting the food out to everyone at one time. Then I could hear the two waitresses talk about someone's boyfriend, Again, the waitress brought something over to the table by the front door. She made complete eye contact with me again. My mother, who was freezing by now, wanted to move up to the front. I told her no, that we were leaving. The restaurant was very slow and that there is not excuse for this and I felt that it was purposely being done. We walked out of your establishment, VERY SLOWLY, because my mother is quite elderly and has a hard time walking. I watched the two waitresses as they both kept their backs to us and their heads down. Not once noticing someone leaving your restaurant. The experience was surreal. I felt the whole event was personal. But my mother loves the place. If you feel there is something that my mother or I have done to offend you or your staff, I would like to know. If that is the case, I take FULL responsibility for our actions or mishap's. However, I have given it some thought and I personally don't understand how we deserved that type of treatment. So, I called Friday, I talked to the waitress who seated us. She said the manger would not be in until 3 pm and the owner was out. She knew who I was. She claimed to have forgotten us and apologized. She said she didn't realize she left us back there until she saw the menus sitting on the table. She said if we came in, she would get us a free piece of pie. But the more I thought about it, the more uncomfortable I felt. I personally feel this was done on purpose: · She sat us in an empty room, by ourselves, when the restaurant was very dead. Completely away from everyone else. · We made eye contact with her at least three to four times. · We were seated beneath a cold airflow. · We were left setting there for 20 to 25 minutes (during a very slow period). · She knew who I was when I called and her indifference in her voice towards me. · The attitude that a piece of pie would justify the poor service. · Usually, the waitress asks for your drink order when they seat you, they did not. This experience has lost you my business and my Husbands business. I will do everything in my power to tell this story to my brothers, and how their mother was treated at the Left Fork Grill. I work close by and several of my co-workers like to visit your establishment, and I will feel obligated in letting them know how the service at the Left Fork Grill has deteriorated. And finally, when my friends want to meet on Saturday or Sunday morning, Left Fork Grill will not be on the list of possible restaurants to meet at. Out of your customers, I am but one voice and I may only be one, but one can carry a long-lasting voice. If you can give me a reason, to think otherwise and I am open to the discussion. I plan on using that voice, because people shouldn't be treated that way. I am not interested in a free meal, let alone a free slice of pie. read more

I loved reading the 'eat-amoligy' of the chef/owner on their website. It explains the sense of quality and yet value of the food offerings here. No skimping. The plates runneth-over. A great mix of retro-diner with the advantages of progressive modern, again with exceptional value prices. I had the meatloaf that comes with house made chili sauce that reminded me of my very own mother's chili sauce from way back when. Yum and thanks for the memory! Rounding out the meatloaf was mashed potatoes and a fresh vegetable along with a soup starting the meal. As usual I had to ask for a box to take home what I couldn't finish, and there was no room for pie, that I did want:-\ Maybe next time, soup only so I can have pie. :-) You can tell when a restaurant is about a passion for good food, and Left Fork Grill hits and exceeds that mark! read more

Unequivocal recommendation. Looks a bit like a dive, but tastes like a restaurant that would normally cost an order of magnitude more money. I have never had better fish and chips in the Salt Lake Valley, the Green Chile Smothered Burrito was unreal, the buckwheat pancakes knocked my socks off, and the pie feels like it came from a high end bakery. Even the coleslaw that came on the side was amazing. Don't miss out and try this place out today. read more

I had the pulled pork sandwich and was not impressed at all. Others in my party had the crab salad which they liked and the broccoli and cheese soup, which also got good reviews. Overall, nothing special at all. We didn't have The pies but they looked good. read more

Absolutely fantastic breakfast! This is the place I look for on trips, made in house food with great service. Bianca provided a great experience and happily made suggestions. The corned beef hash was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the house made sausage and the hollandaise on the tad in the hole was great. We had to take a piece of pie to go. read more

This place had the worst corned beef hash that I've ever had. The hash was bland beyond help, and not appealing looking at all either. I got my eggs poached, as is the default on the menu, and they were over done to the point that the yolks were solid. The eggs also arrived in a small dish that was almost full of the poaching water. The coffee was weak, though that is pretty normal for a diner like this. As for the service, it was mediocre. Not worth the time to stop here, there have gotta be better options around. read more

I had the eggs on a hole. My eggs were perfect and runny. I have never had hollandaise sauce on that before and it was wonderful. The bacon was good and the home fries were amazing! Try those. My friend got pancakes and they were light and fluffy and delicious! Would definitely go back if I am in the area. read more

I got to work 2 hours too early. SO GLAD I DID! I was running late to being early for work (oh the irony)and skipped breakfast. Had some time to burn and this place had great reviews. The food was delicious (spinach bacon and some fancy cheese I can't recall omelette recommended by my server Kari). Coffee was great, and refilled readily. The rye toast came with some delicious home made jam. The most impressive part, was the service. Kari was friendly and kind, and the owner actually came out and chatted with me for a bit! SLC UT - Their homemade jam with sourdough is delish and their fruit cream pies are phenomenal. Unfortunately we are not fans of the rest of their food. It's okay. We finish what's on our plates but I've been here 4 times ordered different things each time and the people I've been with we've all been underwhelmed. And I wouldn't order what I had again (and neither would my husband). This last time the waiter upsold us on the fresh fruit (an extra $ for the substitution) and what arrived were melons (in winter) and they were hard as a rock and tasteless. My husband compared them to bland buffet fruit and this was after when asked what was her favorite the waitress went on and on about their fruit. Yeah I'm just going to say it: Don't get their fruit. But their fruit cream pies really are divine. Go for that. In fact call ahead and order a whole pie. The fruit cream pies are fruit pies with a thick layer of cream on top and they are just so so so so so so tasty. If you are going for a meal order your slice of pie asap as they sell out FAST. Also I would go and eat their toast and jam again and again. I know it sounds like such a silly thing but it's REALLY very good. On Sunday's when other restaurants just have too long of a wait we've always been able to be seated here quickly. Cash only! We drove out here only to leave. I wish they had said it before we wasted time. Disappointed. It looked good!

I was sad to find that this is a CASH ONLY restaurant now. When I expressed disappointment the employee argued with me giving that same sad old "processing fees are too high" song and dance. I also own a business and fees are a necessary business expense for the convenience of your customers. I won't be back until they make it easier for me to spend my money there. read more

I recently found out that since it reopened, Left Fork Grill has become a cash-only business. An on-premises ATM notwithstanding, this decision forces us to seek weekend breakfast elsewhere. The cost of credit card fees can be passed on to the customer in menu prices, and I, for one, don't mind that. Accepting credit cards is a convenience for the customer; not doing so is a hindrance. Came in on Saturday as my regular breakfast spot was closed. Got the egg sandwich with potatoes. It was ok, but not as much cheese as I would have liked, and the toasted bread was just ok. I prefer the sandwich at Pazzo Vita. The staff was very friendly and the service good. read more

Pretty decent place. Just a local owned joint that seems to have been around for quite some time so it's got its own character to it. Service was friendly (most the servers I saw had to be at least in their 50's) and the manager even came out to chat with people and make sure their meal was good. I got the chicken club sandwich with a side of carrot chips (which seemed unique so I thought I'd have them instead of fries) which altogether made for a great lunch. I would've tried the pie but we didn't have the time. If you're looking for a good local place that's nothing fancy check this place out. read more

This is a sad day. Left Fork Grill used to be a go to for our family, but no longer. Historically we visited this restaurant a minimum of twice a month (many times more often). I know that they have faced many difficulties and have taken that into account through the decline of quality. We even have taken a long hiatus hoping that the issues that we encountered would work themselves out. Today we encountered what unfortunately has become the norm here: of our lunches only one item was warm with all others having tepid, lukewarm, even cool temps. Although we have considered ourselves frequent customers, if you are not a regular, your service is quite poor. I have waited many months to write this review, giving many opportunities for redemption. Had high hopes for this old-timey seeming, greasy spoon diner. Nope. My meal was run-of-the-mill bland burger with browned lettuce and tasteless, mealy fries. My companion's burger had an extra treat - it was cooked with the paper divider still on. I think she should have eaten it. Maybe it would have added flavor and definitely fiber. But I find places like this tend to be hidden gems. The area is a little sketch, there were a couple of homeless people in the parking lot and the outside looks like it's a nightclub or bar. But don't be afraid! Give it a chance! The waitress was very nice and kept our coffee full. She was patient with us as we took some time to decide. My cousin got the egg in a hole with ham. I got a spinach and bacon omelette. GOOD GOOD GOOD!! I didn't want potatoes and asked if I could get the sausage patty on the side instead and just pay the difference and they said no problem! Yea, we went 2 days after their reopening after that devastating fire and WOW they have new cooks, and the food was absolutely delicious! The butterscotch pie for dessert was fantastic. Pie crust was flaky and the butterscotch was spot on. This is our favorite spot to go to! Quality and quantity are back to where it was when they first opened years ago! Got their eggs benedict and western omelet to go. The eggs Benedict is amazing! The sauce is creamy, added avocado on top. The potatoes came with some grilled onions and green peppers. Take out came with utensils, ketchup, and Cholula packets. Staff was quick and kind in assisting me as I came in with a line to the door.
