We tried Lefort's Seafood today (Friday the 13th) and had an awesome experience. My husband and I shared 3 pounds of crawfish with corn and a catfish platter with fries, and everything came out hot and fresh. The service was phenomenal, especially for a new restaurant. You'd think the staff might still be learning the ropes, but our server was incredible. There wasn't a single moment we needed anything and had to wait. She checked on us multiple times, and we were only there for about 30 minutes. The food came out really fast. The crawfish hit the table in about 3 minutes, and the catfish platter followed about 10 minutes later. Everything was piping hot. The crawfish has a little spice, just enough to taste it but not overpowering. Honestly, if they put any less spice in it, it wouldn't have any at all. I saw some reviews saying it's way too spicy, but those people obviously haven't had truly spicy crawfish. The fries were amazing honestly like homemade Popeyes-style fries. The catfish was fresh and flavorful. I would have liked it fried a little harder, but the menu says it's lightly battered, so it was exactly as advertised. They also had us in and out quickly without ever feeling rushed, which we really appreciated. This is definitely a great spot for families because there's something for everyone. I was really excited to try this place, but I was very disappointed when I got home and opened my order. For the price you pay for the seafood platters, you would expect the plate to at least be full. I ordered the protein platter where you pick two items and a side (onion rings or fries). I chose catfish and shrimp, but unfortunately they were out of fish, so I got oysters instead. When I opened my plate, there were barely any fries and everything was very greasy. The shrimp tasted like they were soaked in iodine. The oysters were tiny. The oniion rings were very oily. We paid for the combo plate, which was SUPPOSED to be "two full-plates". We got 7 shrimp and 6 oysters. And they didn't have the 2 apetizers we asked for. THEN...when I got home I looked at the bill and see where they charged $.45 for a glass of water. Had a very bad experience at this restaurant lefort's seafood restaurant this past Friday for lunch. We ordered the 2 Fry fish and oyster platter, it's was a very bad choice, they must use old Grease, really soggy with grease, bad grease not fresh. It's supposed to be crispy golden, not. The oyster was the same, over cook burnt bad taste oily grease. We talked to Mr Lefort, he was very ugly and rude to us for making this complaints. He lie to us twice saying that everything fresh. Not so I know I will never eat or buy anything from this place, and will tell everyone I know. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I wish him a lot of luck,in the restaurants business. The truth Marrero people will see how awful this person is really like. In time will tell. He has a very bad personality. And do not take criticism very well. They're a lot of dead ones, and needs better cleaning and removing debris. I come here multiple times and didn't get a consistent of big crawfish and always be a lot of small and medium mix. If you're trying to find this place for the first time, you may pass it up, but once you notice it, you won't pass it up again! Seafood is boiled and seasoned very well with pricing following the season. They've gotten pretty popular which you would most likely see cars parked along side Lapalco Blvd which would give away their location. They only offer carry out which you can not dine in to eat. Like any other seafood joint, it's best to call and see the availability of prepared seafood they have for the day before making a trip over and not getting what you want. You need to call ahead as the owner posts that while there are posted times they are open it is arbitrary depending on the mood of the owner; I like it :)) I called ahead and placed large orders twice from this place in the off season and in both cases the crawfish and crab were well seasoned and spicy. I then ordered for several occasions for the family. They were consistently good and the family enjoyed it. Keep in mind that this was the off season and they were able to consistently deliver crawfish where many places could not get their hands on any volume. I would recommend the sides of corn, sausage, etc. The staff is friendly and fast and helpful. This is a take out place only; don't expect to eat there. They boil in the back and it is apparent.
