Amazing ER experience! Helpful and caring staff. Would recommend for cardiac emergencies.

My friend received extremely poor treatment when I accompanied her. The most hostile place I've been. The hostility starts at the front desk, where the receptionists for both emergency and non-emergency services are rude. The emergency department is particularly bad. The nurses are not only hostile but also seem disinterested in their work. Raven, one of the er nurses and about 5 more of them all spread negative energy throughout the department along with the nurse practitioners. You're more likely to see a nurse practitioner than a doctor. If you ask to see a doctor, they become defensive. I do want to give 5 stars to the CT scan technicians for leaving detailed notes, which another facility found helpful. Unfortunately, the nurse practitioner un disinterested in her work and rush to clear the room , overlooked this information and claimed there were no findings. The technician who performed a pelvic exam deserves only 1 star, as it caused my friend extreme pain afterward. My friend enter the facility not well and left even worst. From the nurses to the nurse practitioners, it's clear that this facility prioritizes efficiency over patient care. They seem to focus on getting patients in and out quickly. My gallbladder died and I went to the emergency room about 10 times over a 4 month span complaining of horrible stomach pain. Each time I went, they told me nothing was wrong. A female nurse practitioner finally told me that I was just a drug addict and if I experience anymore pain, don't come to the hospital. I ended up going to Overland Park Hospital and they told me my gallbladder was shot and had to be removed. Thanks LSH for taking the thousands of dollars in medical bills from me and labeling me a drug addict over a dead gallbladder. Great job Nurse Practitioner ! read more

Terrible experience!!! They prioritize charging patients over providing timely care. After checking in, I waited for hours before being seen by a doctor.I was there for how many hours and i couldn't stand the smell in the hospital . The smell made me dizzy and felt like wanna throw up . I couldn't stay any longer so i had to leave so i didn't get my medicine. It's a totally waste of time . I was there for allergy issues. if I could give a ZERO star I would. I was waiting for 2+ hours at children's mercy for my best friends 6 week old baby, I called into the hospital and got TOLD there was a 14 MINUTE wait. I've now been sitting here for over a hour and a half and Halie told me " theres nothing she can do since it's a hospital" ALSO they apparently aren't supposed to give out wait times but they did. she also informed me if I was to take the baby elsewhere we could risk " getting our test results lost" ( how does that work??? it's a hospital why are results getting "lost" ) WHICH MIND YOU I HAD TO ASK FOR A RSV TEST TO BE DONE AFTER SITTING FOR OVER A HOUR WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING DONE. More than 4 people have walked out, 2 of them being in NECK BRACES ( due to a major car accident) & being treated in the waiting room???? HIPAA VIOLATION?!? they have NO idea what their doing. completely unorganized & unprofessional. My grandfather took me to the Emergency wing of Lee's Summit Medical Center on June 21st due to a terrifying itchy, nightmare of a rash that was rapidly spreading and heating up on my Entire body! While all skin surfaces were getting covered in raised, lava patches of terror, my organs, joints, jaw, and internals were sore, stiff, and horrible. My fevers ranging from 99.2 to 102. The individuals working the lobby were professional, quick, and seemed to know what they were doing in their positions. Less than several minutes of being seen by my nurse and doctor, they both recognized immediately I was experiencing a dangerous, full-blown internal and external allergic reaction to some kind of medication. I told them I was taking a steroid-type medication called "Cadista" that was pathetically prescribed to me from the terrible doctor who saw me at the Saint Luke's Emergency Hospital on June 19th. But don't worry, that review will be posted about that nightmare at Saint Luke's very soon.. It was a horrible and upsetting experience for both my Aunt and I and because I was completely dismissed and ignored, and ridiculously miss-diagnosed with an outbreak of what they believed were mosquito bites all over my legs and hips, I could have ended up in FAR worst condition without the proper care I got at L.S.M.C. Yes, I am still very upset with that place.. -___- Anywho, Heather was the name of the doctor at Lee's Summit M.C., and after explaining to her how Saint Luke's treated me, my Aunt, and my situation, I then told her I was seen by the MinuteClinic of CVS on June 12th. I went in that day due to highly infected insect bites I had on my left hip. My grandfather was convinced I might have been bitten by a brown recluse! Thankfully I wasn't, and was diagnosed with Staph infection then provided a Sulfa-based antibiotic which Instantly told Heather and her nurse what my body was reacting to. Sure enough, I learned on June 21st that I am Deathly allergic to Any medication containing "Sulfonamides". Thanks to the wonderful people I was fortunate enough to see that day, I was instructed to completely Stop the medication and to regularly take 50mgs of Benadryl (according to the instructions they gave me of course) until my body naturally overcomes it's escalated response to the medication. It was an EXTERMELY rough ride 5 days after starting on that antibiotic from CVS. I'm also not going to sit here and blame CVS for my body reacting the way it did to the antibiotic they prescribed me. Unfortunately situations like mine is how people discover their medication allergies.. For the most part that is. My family and I don't know what would have happened if I had finished that medication, while Completely unaware I was dangerously allergic to it. The people I saw at Lee's Summit's ER knew immediately what was happening and did what they could, and I will forever be grateful to them.. And of course from that visit I learned from my Doctor that not only was Cadista the lowest and weakest form of that steroid, but it was enough to inflame and amplify my body's reaction to my allergy, making it all that much worse.. I strongly suggest everyone I love and care about to seek care at Lee's Summit Medical Center ! o____o I'm glad I remembered to take a snapshot of the facility. The Way They All Should Be! Face it, you usually you only go a hospital when something is seriously wrong. At those times you are not real interested in sitting in a waiting room for a long time, or being kept in the dark about your condition. Our experiences there have always met those expectations. When we first moved back to the area, one of our goals was to find a home close by medical care, and with Lee's Summit Medical Center exactly 1 mile from our first choice house, we felt very confident that serious medical care would be readily available throughout our coming retirement. Each time we have used them over these past 12 years our expectations have been met or exceeded. All staff have been understanding, professional, helpful, and good communicators. Someone on staff has always followed up after each visit to assure we were OK and did not have any questions. We have never had issues with billing or referrals. Parking is readily available, and safety has never been a concern. From routine scheduled procedures through joint replacements to stroke emergencies, we have been impressed with not only the competence of the staff, but also the layout of the building's enhanced privacy considerations. Their immediate reactions to times when you might need more specialized care is down right impressive. You might not find that in other area medical facilities. $39,000 For 3 standing no contrast CT scans!!!!!!!! PLACED LIEN ON ME!!!!! Went to the emergency room with back pain after being in a car accident. They informed me they needed to do CT scans and I informed them I am a cash patient and asked what the cost would be. They said they would get the estimate with the cash patient discount and instructed me to X-ray room. They took Three standing scans without contrast of my head, neck, and back. Told me then they can only see if I have broken bones with that type of scan and i needed to see a back and spine specialist for the pain i was expereincing. I requested the bill so I could figure out payment arrangements and to ensure the discount was there and they informed me it would be mailed. seven days later they took $10,000(ALL) from my auto insurance medical benefits. Then a week after that they filed a lean against the injury claim I had with the at fault party's auto insurance for $39,363....Ya. Almost 40 thousand for 3 x-rays and a pain pill. Was there maybe 45 minutes. Was never given a price or cost after asking several times. The I was waiting for them to fix their lien on the settlement since the total bill is $39,363 and they received $10,000 already but the lien was still for $39,3636, not the actual remainder of the bill $29,363. I went down to the hospital and was told they can not talk with me. That I needed to talk to Revecore, the third party collection company They turned my medical records and debt over too 7 days after my visit. I've been calling Revecore daily for over three weeks now to settle this debt and still no resolution. I was never given a bill in person or by mail. I was never informed about the lien until settlement was coming to a close. I now can't even access the settlement until the lien is corrected. It has now been three and a half months since the accident that totaled my truck and and ruptured a disc in my back. I was bedridden for several of those months in horrible pain and now able to move around somewhat. Doctors I've been seeing and paying out of pocket with cash discount want to try steroid shot in the spine as first method of treatment so I can get back to work. I've had MRI and doctor visits totallying $2,500 all together since my $40,000 visit to Lees Summit Medical that wiped out my insurance and has prolonged my access to my settlement that I need to afford this epidural shot. I've exhausted my funds just getting by the last 3three and a half months with no income. Lee's summit Medical has done nothing but prevent me from the critical medical care I need. When I questioned the $39,363, i was told thats standard pricing. Looking up pricing Comparison I see that their price is double the national average high..... shame on you Lees Medical Center!!!!!!!!!!!!! No resolution to this date. read more

I was in Lisa medical center when I went to the everybody was excellent took great care of me. I thought I was dying I felt that I was dyand they got me out of it but nursing doctor's everybody was excellent they I am very pleased with this hospital and it's staff. No one knows the name that I can remember was John! I'm not good with names at all!! But ALL the Doctors and the Nurses was Great to me!! I'm sure it's Not just a Job to them!!! They was caring and they Don't Care about me they treated me as if I was a Family member to them!! My wife just returned from the ER after being told to go there by our normal doctor. The ER was extremely slow (there for over six hours). They did blood work and a CT scan. She finally received a diagnosis from a Nurse Practioner. However, the nurse had never heard of the problem and couldn't explain it. They Just recommended that my wife see her normal doctor (the same one who sent her to the ER to get help). She NEVER saw an actual doctor or received an explanation about her results at the hospital. They also did a ton of blood work but never provided any report of the results. It was overall a huge waste of time and money. This will be our last time going to this ER. I'm sure the billing will even be incorrect as well. I received a bill for my son's surgery this spring for $2,000. I called and actually owed only $17....opps. read more

Cut my finger and needed a stitch. Waited in a chair for four hours. Then was taken back into a treatment room. Waited another 30 min. When the doctor came in I removed my bandage, and surprise, the wound had already begun to heal. Instead of breaking open the wound I bandages back up and hit the road. No services remembered. Now I get a bill for $417. Ha! I have called them and spoke to a supervisor. They offered me a 20% discount. Still it works out to $100/hour to sit in the waiting room chair. "You saw the doctor," was the reasoning for the bill. Sure, the doctor was inconvenienced for maybe 30 seconds. I was convenienced for almost 5 hours. Damn. Everyone I came across in person (emergency room doctors and nurses, main floor doctors and nurses, and surgical team) were phenomenal. I've never had a hospital experience in any other hospital between all the visits I've had to make for family members where literally EVERYONE was just exceptionally wonderful. Everyone went out of their way to just be so nice and answer all your questions, even if you have a billion. If you only have to ever interact with in person staff, 5 stars. However, I had to call in this morning to discuss a script issue and had to go through four different people before I got to the right person. Which is understandable when I don't have a direct number, nor know who to tell them to send me to. However, all four operators (the front desk?, emergency room, actual operator, then the proper lady for my "unit" were beyond rude and dismissive. Not at all reflective of the care you will receive inside. So if you have to call in for any reason BEFORE going there, please don't let the operator team inform your judgement of what your treatment when actually going in will look like. They're all phenomenal inside. read more

My husband was in the hospital for 3 days in August. Is there any reason why there is no any kind of security during the day? Anybody from the street can come to the hospital rooms. Respiratory clinic- male technician After 27 years of taking pulmonary function test, this by is the worst experience I've had. Talks to you like he's trying to win a football game & it's your fault if you don't get the score he wants. I'm giving it all I got, his condescending remarks continue to roll Never will test under him again and probably this hospital. Not when he has the ability to annotate in my records the efforts he thinks I put into this test which he mentioned. Total madness., when asked could I get a copy of PFT said he couldn't give me one ok fine, added medical records probably couldn't either has to do with hipaa. That is no concept of HIPAA. I went to Lee's Summit Medical Center for an out patient procedure in November 2020. Procedure and care were fine, problem is with Lee's Summit Medical Center using out of network provider for pathology services. A patient has no way to choose the pathology service that is used. Instead of having a bill for less than $100.00, I have a bill for over $1000.00. I have contacted Lee's Summit Medical Center on five occasions about this any each time I am told that someone will get back to me but still no response. If you don't want to get stuck paying for out of network services, don't go to Lee's Summit Medical Center. read more

DO NOT GO! I've never written a review before but my experience here was awful. I came in to see Dr. Patni to talk about my heart. The staff was extremely rude, they rushed me and made me feel stupid. They never explained what they were doing on me, and basically told me I was fine when I clearly wasn't or I wouldn't be there. I left feeling uncomfortable and knew I wasn't going back. It also took 2 1/2 hours, they told me on the phone it will only take an hour. I also went alone and this was my first time seeing a cardiologist before so already I was nervous but they are completely inconsiderate here. Would not recommend!! read more

Medical staff was great. Couldn't have been happier with the way I was treated, would highly recommend them. Billing and admin was another story entirely. I received numerous requests for filling out paperwork and providing insurance cards, which I did on several occasions. I was going in for a routine outpatient procdure. When I arrived I was given an electronic tablet and told to complete all the answers before returning it to the front desk. The last question was about a $250 copay with a slot to insert my credit card. Seemed kind of strange since they had been provided my insurance card that clearly stated 0 Copay and 0 deductible. After I arrived home I called the business office and was told I would have to go to my carrier to be reimbursed for this charge. I promptly called my carrier and was told they should not have made the charge and the hospital was responsible for the reimbursement, so I called them back again. This time I was quite rudely told to call back in a week and they would see what they could do. My mother recently had hip replacement surgery at this hospital. Surgery then one nights stay. Her treatment from EVERYONE was so professional and kind. Nursing staff was always attentive and easily accessible. Hospital room was very large and modern. Physical therapy staff was very helpful and caring. read more

I am basing this review off their emergency care services. I have visited this facility three times in the last year. Two of the visits were for my kids. The last visit was for me. The wait times are HORRIBLE. The nurses are rude, uncaring, cold and indifferent. I have walked out on the last two occasions. I was in agony due to food poisoning and all the nurses were just a laughing it up having a good 'ole time as I waited for the doctor. They were rude to my wife when she asked for a cup of water. The heavily tatooed nurse who has attended us on more than one occasion is indifferent to your suffering, cold, lack of any natural human affection or concern. Visited this hospital with my husband. He had a common outpatient surgical procedure. The check in process was easy and efficient. They completed labs and then he was taken back for prep. The staff showed me where the waiting room was and ensured I knew there was coffee available. The hospital utilizes a digital board to keep family members updated regarding the surgery. You are handed a paper which includes a patient number and a list of descriptions for each step in the surgery. The board updates and you can track the start of anesthesia, start of surgery, end of surgery, entered recovery, and when the anesthesia is stopped. This was my husband's first surgery and he was having challenges waking up and dealing with bad reactions to the anesthesia. The postop nurses called the waiting room attendant to keep me updated after he had gone beyond the normal timeframes and when the digital board was no longer helpful. To improve the family members' experiences, I would recommend the following: 1. Be sure to explain "what happens next". From admissions to labs and preop to postop, be sure to tell people who they will be speaking with next. 2. Do not put family members in a consultation room to speak with the surgeon and make them wait for excessive periods of time...without checking in or advising them their loved one is okay. My imagination went wild! Consultation rooms are almost always used to deliver bad information. Every second is torture and truly unnecessary when there is no bad news. A simple "Your husband is doing fine, please wait here to speak with the surgeon" would have been sufficient! Special thanks to the sweet volunteers who pushed the courtesy snack cart around the waiting area. They were diligent in making sure every person waiting had at least two chances to say yes to a snack or drink. Facility was clean and seemed well organized. Nothing over the top extraordinary, just a nice clean hospital. read more

My mother is 87 and was admitted to the hospital through the ER. Over the course of the next several days, she saw many specialists and had lots of testing done. The doctors could find no reason for the periodic dramatic drop in blood pressure and difficulty breathing. The family assessed the situation and asked if the hospital could deliver hospice like services and help us get her into a hospice program. Without missing a beat the hospital changed its focus from remedial to comfort focused care and helped us through the paperwork necessary to get her hospice services at Seasons, the long term care faculty where she is living. Throughout this difficult period, our entire family has been impressed with the doctors, nurses and other professionals. All were very professional and authentic humans at the same time. Deena and Wendy were spectacular in the care they provided our mother and everyone around her. Overall, our experience was very, very good. LSMC has earned its 5 stars. read more

Received great treatment during a stay in the care of LeesSummit Medical Center. Have a problem with the billing department. I have two ins. policy's it's evident the staff in billing can't seem to read the ins. cards they scan into there system. I have never received one bill from any hospital since 2005. One night stay n this medical center, and my bill was turned over to collections. I was told by someone at the medical center that they transposed a couple of numbers they sent to my insurance carriers, they did not seem to care nor would not help me out one bit to resolve this situation. Went in to the ER for a terrible experience. The day before I was at St Luke's East ER and was told to return if my symptoms worsened. Well, my symptoms got worse and we decided to go to LSMC since it was closer. Sure, my wait time was great-had me back in a room in minutes. But I then sat in that room for 90 minutes without being checked on. No one to check on my pain, no vials, not on any monitors, nothing. The doc was rude and arrogant and very condescending, which was incredibly frustrating as my girlfriend and I are both in the medical field (a nurse and paramedic). The doc discharged me without doing anything, but still collecting my $250 copay, and telling me to, 'suck it up.' Regardless to say we're back at St Luke's and I got a room in a few minutes and have be checked on frequently. My pain and symptoms are under control and the doc is very friendly. I wouldn't recommend Lee's Summit Medical to anyone I cared about. read more

My experience here has been with the surgery and hospital stay. The staff is excellent. Very helpful and professional. The care given to my bestie has been really awesome. The first nurse she had was okie dokie. The 7pm - 7am male RN Jaime is beyond excellent. He's caring, thoughtful, efficient and an absolute asset to this hospital. Her dr. Is dr. Sneed. Who is wonderful. The amenities for family is better then any I've ever seen before. Free drinks, snacks etc. The volunteers are outstanding. Seriously this has been a wonderful experience considering its a hospital and I'm not a big fan of hospitals. Outstanding job and comfort level plus professionalism. I believe Lee's Summit Medical Center is the most difficult and possibly one of the least patient friendly medical centers I have ever experienced. Their patient policies make it very difficult for a patient to obtain information concerning procedures and medical records, even simple ones. If it were not for the fact that my primary care physician is located there and that it is my closest medical facility I would never go there. If you have a choice I recommend you go elsewhere. I would give their ER doc that bullied me into not getting the proper medical care a big fat zero! I had been in and out of the ER for months with severe abdominal pain and multiple kidney stones. I came in one afternoon after just having surgery and i was urinating all blood and having severe abdominal pain again and stated it felt somewhat like a kidney stone but never urinated straight blood before. The ER doc came in and told me he was sending me home with a urine stone catcher and i asked why he wasn't doing an abdominal scan to see whats causing the bleeding and he yelled at me and said, well how much more radiation would u like. So I of course left and my mom was so mad she wouldn't bring me back home as i wanted because she knew something was not right. Thankfully she took me immediately to st. Josephs medical center where I was immediately brought into emergency surgery and appendectomy because i was bleeding internally from the surgery I had a few days before and had a bad appendix. Needless to say, if my mom hadn't known better than the Lees summit medical center ER "doctor",with the license, I would have died!!!!!!!! I have not been back since and will NEVER allow another dr bully me the way this jerk did that day. He should be made aware of his negligence, but I will never again be back and hope that everyone reading this considers this when making the decision to go to this ER. Its been about 3 years now and have not been back to any ER with severe abdominal pain since my appendix was removed!!!! If only I had gone to St. Joe from the very beginning I could have saved myself months of agony and a near death experience. read more

Had a 'minor' outpatient surgery performed there. The staff, from pre-registration the day before all the way till wheeled out was top notch. Professional, courteous, well organized, patient (no pun intended), and well spoken helped to ease any fears about the procedure. I was familiar with my surgeon prior to the procedure but met all the other staff the day of, and was impressed. On multiple occasions different nurses/techs scanned my bar code, and asked my name and why I was there...not because they didn't know, but to double check everything lined up. The facility was very clean, especially the operating room...almost weird that a ceiling can be that clean. My wife was impressed by the waiting room with an airport/flight like progress chart. I hope to never return , but if I do it will be with less anxiety knowing the center is well run by organized professionals. read more
