Ordered a Hoover Washing Machine on the 26/5, and they immediately took payment, site said 'may'…read moretake 5-10 working days delivery, rang on 29/5 as I still had not been advised of a delivery date, was told the item was not in stock, and would not be for another week.
Week later, 5/6, rang again told it 'may' be dispatched that week.
Week later, 12/6, rang again told it 'may' be dispatched that week.
14/6, (a Friday) received an email advising it would be delivered on the 17/6 (a Monday) I did not see the email until 6 pm, and it advised the Goods would not be delivered if their were stairs, something that was never mentioned during the buying process (but I have since found in the small print). I am disabled, and live in a first floor Maisonette, so this was not practical.
I rang their Couriers immediately only to get a recorded message stating that their Offices were closed, and only open 9-5 Mon-Fri (note I had not even seen the notification email till 6 pm)
Monday 17/6, 9 am, rang Couriers and made them aware of situation, and offered a solution that if the Goods could be delivered after 3 pm I could have help here to bring the Goods into my home if the Driver dropped the Goods at the bottom of the stairs.
This was refused outright, I was told the Goods would be returned to the Depot and would need to be re booked, and I would need to pay a further £20 for them to deliver this into my Home, and it was unlikely it would be re delivered that week (this was 9 am Monday morning remember) as they were very 'busy'.
Friday 21st received a call in the afternoon saying the Goods would be delivered on the 27/6, Again, I reiterated I was unwilling to pay a further £20 to have the Goods delivered into my Home (this after waiting what would have been a whole month by this stage) as this had not been made clear at the buying stage, and if the Driver would deliver after 3 pm I would arrange my own labour, (i.e.friends when they had returned from work), to bring the Goods up the stairs. This was agreed, after the Salesman intimated I was fortunate I was not be charged for the original delivery being cancelled by the Courier!!!
Tuesday the 25th received an email from AO, informing me they were offering a 20% discount on their Goods, I rang them and it transpires the Hoover Washing Machine Model I had ordered from Power Direct was discontinued as a older Model, and for just £16 pounds more I was offered the Model that had superseded it, their Drivers could deliver into my Home, at no extra charge, and, they could do it within 2 days!!! so it would be due on the exact same date as the one I had waited for over a month for from Power Direct to arrive.
I duly took them up on the offer, and you would think this saga would end there. But it doesn't
I rang the number Power Direct has as their customer number on their website, three times, never got a reply. I also rang the number the Salesman had called from on the previous Friday, twice, no reply.
So, I sent an email explaining the situation and informing them I wanted to cancel.
This morning (26/6) I received a phone call from the same Salesman who had called Friday asking why I wanted to cancel, I explained my primary concern was delivery, and their refusal to bring the Goods into my home unless I paid a further £20, and my other concern that if the Company was this lax and I had not even received the Goods yet, what would happen if I had a problem under the guarantee? I was also annoyed at the fact the Goods were not delivered in a timely manner (its been over 30 days now, and several trips to the Launderette later, which is no fun when you are disabled, and X amount of Pounds spent on these jaunts) the Salesman then launched into what can only be described as a full on rant, has I had agreed to take delivery during our Friday phone call, and that he had said it would be delivered into my home at no extra cost, basically, he was calling me a liar, which is patently untrue.
Eventually when he had grasped the fact I was not about to change my mind, he said he would pass it on to the relevant Department, and they would decide what the restocking fee would be!!!!
I informed him I would not be paying a restocking fee, not only because they could not deliver the Goods in a practical manner, they had also exceeded time quoted on their site by over a week, as the first attempted delivery ordered and paid for 25/5, was not even attempted delivery until 17/6.
The Salesman insisted I would be liable, I insisted I wouldn't,and that was where we left it.
I will keep this page appraised of the outcome.
Update, the Machine ordered from AO on the afternoon of 25/6 was delivered at 8.30 this morning, 27/6!!!
