I'll admit, I've been going to this place for over 4 yrs. but due to the ridiculously high priced…read moreservices I've been venturing to other salons in hopes of finding an equally skilled stylist- and I can't! I love my stylist, Shawn; she is beautiful, strong and I've never walked out of that salon disappointed with her work (until 2 Thurs. ago). In fact, my profile pic was taken shortly after she cut, dyed, & styled my hair yrs ago. However, I've become increasingly annoyed with the salon itself, roughly 2 weeks ago I wanted to try something new & let Shawn do whatever she wanted to my hair. I am not unhappy with her work ( I don't like my color or cut but it's not her fault- I was trying something out of my comfort zone & it's just not me). What I was angry with was the cost, my normal expense is $150.00 plus I always tip her $50.00. But this time it cost me $250.00 !!! And I honestly felt like I had just walked out of Best Cuts and that I could've done exactly what I paid for myself for way cheaper. The cost of each service is not posted anywhere in the salon nor on their website- annoying!!! I also find some of their workers to be rude, one of them being the owner who is abrupt & uninviting on the phone but a completely different person face to face. I'm not sure what that's all about but I hate calling to schedule an appointment! Then there's another younger stylist (we'll call her Jersey Shore) who washed out my hair while Shawn worked on another client. No "hello", no smile, no nothing- just complete silence- she was definitely angry about something or at someone but when I'm paying these prices I expect better customer service. I would've been happy with a simple 'Hi", honestly. Anyways, I'm not saying don't go here- there's a reason why I keep coming back I just wish there was a way to get my hair done by Shawn outside of the salon. Also, I've had Jessica do my hair as well & was equally happy with her work as well.

When I first moved to Lakewood, I was in desperate need of a haircut. I didn't know where to go,…read moreand as I'm particuluarly particular about my hair, I had no idea where to turn. I was also low on funds. A friend of mind recommended Carabel's. I figured, what the hell, it's only hair and it'll grow back and it's not a big deal. I pulled in the parking lot, and was shocked to see a pink building. We're not talking pastel pink, we're talking BRIGHT pink. I walk in the door, and it literally looks like a junk shop. There is all kinds of stuff laying everywhere. I had an appointment with Rose, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a younger woman cutting hair. I believe the average age of a customer at Carabel's is around 63. They have the old drying chairs, women in curlers, etc. However, Rose did an excellent job with my hair. She took her time and made sure I was happy. All in all, the haircut cost me about 12 dollars, including tip. They do just about everything, from waxing, color, perms, etc. If you need a decent haircut, at a decent price, see Rose at Carabel's.

During my last visit July 25, 2026, there was a shortage of staff due to an event the employees were attending at Noon on a Saturday. The stylist I booked with was leaving early for the day and Ashley did my gel manicure. I was concerned because my polish, even gel) doesn't last longer than 7-10 days. Ashley took her time and even recommended a polish to strengthen my nails. I was amazed my manicure lasted one month!!! Will definitely return for my next manicure.

*1/5 stars - Horrible experience at Salon Álvarez…read more Today I went to SA for my usual highlights, but the experience was a complete catastrophe. The stylist who attended to me was not the usual one, and she left my hair completely blonde!! It was like I went from being a brunette to Shakira overnight! I would never in my life ask for that kind of artificial and overdone blonde, and even less without consulting me. Also , during the process, before I realized the mistake, the stylist after two hours told me she didn't have time to cut or style my hair and that I would have to come back another day What ??? She left the dye on my hair for almost THREE HOURS, which I'm sure didn't help the situation. I was starting to get worried as the time went by, but I trusted that she knew what she was doing. Boy, was I wrong. When she finally rinsed out the dye, my hair was completely ruined. When the other stylists realized the damage, they tried to fix the mistake with a toner, but the result was .... OMG : now my hair looks gray It's unbelievable that they couldn't get it right in the first place, and their "solution" was even worse . I've been a client for three/four years and I never imagined I'd receive treatment like this. The lack of recognition and condescending attitude of the staff was what bothered me the most. They said, "This is the color we always do for you," acting like it was true. There was no "Sorry, we made a mistake".They acted like I was crazy and it was all just a fabrication!! Needless to say, I left without paying. Now I'll have to go to another salon to try to fix this mess. I have photos of my hair before, during, and after the disaster, so I can prove the evidence . I don't recommend this salon to anyone. The lack of professionalism and the staff's attitude is unacceptable. Look elsewhere for your hair needs.
