I'm so obsessed with this place! Now that I'm working out in the Raleigh area, I desperately needed to find a good nail salon. And I found it!!!! This is the first time I've had something done to my natural nails that I have fallen in love with. If you haven't already looked them up on instagram, do it. They do amazing work. I'm extremely weary of having designs done on my nails because I fear someone messing it up, but after looking at their instagram I knew this was the place for me. I wanted this cute fall swirl look and I got exactly what I asked for. The workers were so nice as well! They sat and chatted with me and my friend. We had a great time and it was exactly what we needed after a long day at work. Bonus points, the hand massage at the end felt amazing! I will definitely become a regular here. The atmosphere was ok but it wasn't the best service. On a busy Friday, there were only 2 technicians. The one technician seemed as though she was the manager. She knew two of the customers who walked in. They had appointments but she told them that she was running behind and to come back in 30 minutes. I hope they get more help. The service was very rushed. Also, if you want nail designs, you have to make an appointment because someone ELSE does the designs and special services. Crazy and not normal but that is a learning curve. Update: why did the business owner just attack me with a full book response???? Smh! Crazy. I see other reviews and anyone who doesn't give them a 5 she just goes in and attacks. That is extremely unprofessional. Business 101::::: EVERYONE will not like it LOVE your establishment. I said nothing about the paper on the floor. I had not Idea they were remodeling. Didn't phase me. I didn't say the technicians were bad. Please relax. My first impressions are that the place is big and very clean (my nose was infiltrated by disinfectant and polish).They have a crazy selection of colors (regular and gel) as well as a plethora of awesome designs by Elizabeth. I came in with quarantine nails: long, cuticles all over the place, and skin dry. I asked for the Mani (a new you) and pedi (a dreamers destination). They had amazing procedures in place to ensure I felt safe during this pandemic and covid. I texted for an appointment, then texted to let them know I arrived. Ever since I moved to NC, I have been on the lookout for a clean, professional, and well rated nail salon. I don't get my nails done often as I try to grow them out naturally and keep them healthy; however, I occasionally get gel polish to help them grow without breakage. After looking at Yelp, it seemed that Phoenix Nail Spa had decent reviews and it was on my way home from work. It was pretty busy at the complex when I arrived and it was difficult to find a parking spot. There appeared to be an event at the business next store; so, that may have contributed to the crowd. I wound up parking a few stores down and walked to the salon. When I entered, I walked up to the receptionist desk and asked if they could take a walk-in appointment for gel polish and a polish change on my toes. The woman working the desk asked one of the technicians and they said they could take me in a few minutes. She then handed me the color wheels and told me to pick the colors I wanted. I waited a few minutes, picked my colors, and was greeted by my technician. She was really friendly and engaged in some conversation throughout my visit. Unfortunately, the tools she was using were not the cleanest. I was hoping they used new nail files and/or sanitized their equipment after each use; but, the technician took a used nail file and other tools directly from her drawer. This was disappointing as I've been to plenty of other salons who use new nail files and tools taken from the autoclaves. While she was working on my nails, I couldn't help but observe the decor of the salon. They had various seasonal decor scattered throughout the salon - the majority of it Halloween related. Some of the shelves had Christmas decorations and they had Thanksgiving/fall decor over by the nail dryers. Perhaps they don't have enough room to store their decorations when not in season? I'm not sure; but, it kind made for a strange aesthetic in the salon. Aside from the decor, the music was awesome. It must have been a 1990/2000s playlist they had streaming because all of the songs took me right back to middle school/high school, haha. Once my nails were done, she took me over to the nail dryers. I sat patiently, listening to the music, and felt something on my foot. I ignored it for a minute until I felt it again. When I looked down, there were ants on my foot and all around the floor under the nail dryer. :( :( I'm not sure if someone had spilled something while waiting or if they had been there regardless; but, it definitely made me want to leave. The final result of my nails were ehh - the shapes of my nails were crooked from filing and there were bubbles in the gel polish. The nail polish on my toes didn't last long either (which was strange because I usually can get a few weeks out of my toe polish). This definitely wasn't my best nail salon experience and I don't think I'll drive out of my way to visit again. **Update to respond to the business owner: Aside from the fact that I find your response unprofessional; no, I did not write this review to maintain my elite status. I write all of my reviews based on my experiences. My visit to your salon was actually recent (near April) and that decor was out in your salon. I understand that is your personal style and preference of decor. I was only sharing my opinion of the aesthetic. Thanks for your compliment on the color combination! I was excited to find the pair and thought that it did look great together (despite the nail shape). I do always speak up with the technician if I notice something is off; however, they see the shape of my nails from a different angle. It's hard to see until you hold your hand up and I did not realize the shape and bubbles until I was in my car. Also, the ants crawling on my feet made me want to leave sooner than later... I did comment that I enjoyed your music; so, I'm not sure where you saw that I said I had an issue with it? I just moved from CA and I was looking for a new nail bar that did nail design and showed detailed service. I found Phoenix Nail Spa on IG and loved all the designs and it looked like quality work so I figured I'd give them a try. I got a gel manicure with crystal designs and a regular pedi. Alex started me off by removing the old gel. She was so gentle and made sure to manually file off only the gel and not my natural nails. You'd think this is a 'of course' but I've been to places where they've used a nail drill because it's faster and it's always been too harsh for my nails. Then Elizabeth took over and did the gel and nail design. She was very detailed when it came to shaping my nail, then equally detailed when it came to painting my gel. I had asked for a specific crystal design but due to the fact that I work with my hands a lot for work, Elizabeth gently suggested another design. She could do the design but it wouldn't last as long and she didn't want me to be dissatisfied . I trusted her to give me a design that she thought would work for me and I'm glad I did. You can really see that she cares about the quality of her work and I appreciated that detail. Pedicure was also great! I go very simple with my toes so I'm happy with the fact that the shaping was clean, no nail polish stuck to my skin and they even took the time to sit me down in a toe drying station. They said I could stay there as long as I wanted and came over when I was ready to spray a coating on top. Overall, a really great first experience. First experience: I found Phoenix Nail Spa on yelp, so thank you for those who have left your reviews. I am in LOVE with this nail spa! I travel for my job and struggle to find nail salons that give me something more than just a basic gel manicure. I made an appointment in advance with Elizabeth and told her what I was hoping to do (marble nail design on ring fingers and a solid color on the other fingers). She confirmed my appointment the day of, I ended up being a few minutes late but they were friendly when they greeted me. One of the girls brought me the color swatches, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name. Alex ended up bringing me some additional swatches, I couldn't stop eyeballing the cat eye swatches. Let me tell you, I am so happy I went with the cat eye! I love the look and for wanting to branch out a bit, it has given me something to ease into "fun" nails. I wish I didn't travel so much and could get my manicures every 2 weeks from Phoenix Nail Spa. I will be making my appointments every time I know I will be in Raleigh. Stopped by this afternoon without an appointment, but Alex was able to work me in for a couple hours later. Alex remembered me and what I wanted from hours before and got to me right away. While she was working on my nails, I could look around and I loved how unique the place was. I've been to plenty of nail salons and they're all copies of each with pink finishes. I'm not super feminine so it felt nice to be pampered in a more neutral place. It's a salon I would bring my husband to for couples pedicures! On the nails themselves, Alex took her time making sure the coffin shape was perfect. She compared them over and over, asked to make sure the length was good for me, and kept involving me. I loved this because I almost always want them a bit shorter but am afraid to say that. I got a beautiful red color, and it was only $55 for the tips, shape, color, and powder gel. I love this price considering how long Alex took on the shaping making sure everything was perfect for me. I've been to my share of factory salons that don't really care if you have a nice time, but Alex didn't hurt me nor was she rushing. I loved the special treatment. Plus, I loved talking to her. We chatted the whole two hours about this or that, and she took a real interest in my interests. It was truly a pleasure to be worked on by Alex, and I'm looking forward to going back to maybe getting a design! They looked amazing too! The only thing I'll mention is that if you're in a rush and just need a quick paint job, I may not recommend this shop.
