AC went out last night. Lee's HVAC arrived at noon. Temp outside 98, not counting Augusts humidity. Put in new compressor and new air handler. Lightning storm and pouring rain hit at 2:30pm. They kept working. Electricity went out 3:30 pm, they kept working. Completed installation at 5pm, came back at 6:30, after electric came back on, to checkout system, here until 7pm. Could not have asked for better service. They went above and beyond!!! Thank you! Definitely a 6 star installation! read more

My ac unit isn't blowing as cool as it should so I called Lee. The tech was as my home in less then 30 mins. The tech said my ac unit had a leak and the whole system needs to be replaced. I ask how much that would be he $14000.00 I almost fell over. I have a 3 bedroom house.. there is no way it should cost that much. But after I read the reviews I know why they charge so much. They told my senior mother she needed a new HVAC (indeterminate if she did need one) she "paid" for a brand name unit, and a basic base level was installed instead. It system did not work. They charged her DOUBLE what several other companies ask for an actual NAME BRAND. They gave her no warranty, receipt, or contact. Found out recently that the hybrid water heater they installed four years ago was done incorrectly causing premature failure. Fortunately the company Rheem agreed to replace it under warranty. FYI - This company mails out a lot of coupons for "free tuneups", etc. Don't fall for it. Some of the techs are good and do honest work, but the company incentivizes them to replace vs repair so get a second opinion before you do business with them. read more

I got the "pre-paid service notification" postcard in the mail for the air conditioning tune up and inspection. I bought this house three years ago and had no idea when the unit was installed so I thought it would be a good idea to have them come out and check it. Well it was a bad idea. After the inspection Blake came in and asked if I wanted the bad news. I am 72 and retired. He told me I was going to need an entire new unit and gave me a price for a Rheem of $17,000! He said he "guaranteed" that my unit would not make it through the summer. He spoke quickly and seemed honest so I took his word for it. However... My air conditioner has been working just fine all along. I don't think I need to do anything with it. This company is a scam. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. All I can say is if I start having problems with my system now, it's because of something that was done to it intentionally. I am calling a reputable company for a service contract. I will see what they say it needs, if anything. These people should be ashamed of themselves for preying on elderly people. Oh, and they are definitely not BBB acclaimed. Stay away!!! read more

I have had them come to my house to perform a tuneup two different times and each time they give me false issues with my AC system. The first time they told me my thermostat was wired incorrectly and it would ruin my heating , which I had a couple other people check and it was not installed incorrectly. Most recently I had them do a tuneup again and this time they trying to tell me I had my UV light installed incorrectly. I had the company who installed it come back over and they showed me the arrow indicating the airflow and that it was installed correctly. I cannot express how unhappy I have been with the "service" I received from Lee Heating and Cooling. Unfortunately, a single star is the lowest rating I can provide. I called Lee's in December, after my water heater stopped working. They came out the same day and quoted me $4600 to replace the water heater. I would have replaced it myself, but I needed to have it permitted so that I could later sell my home. I purchased the water heater from Lowes for $500 and provided it to them so they could do the work. They still charged me $2400 for the two hours of labor, but at least it was done. A couple of weeks later, I opened the closet in which the water heater sits to find that the copper pipe they attached to was flexed at the joint because it was not properly measured before installation. That led to a crack that had been spraying in the closet for weeks. It also caused significant damage to the drywall and prolific mold. I shut off the water and called Lee's. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday, and they said they couldn't send out a plumber. Instead, they sent an HVAC technician who told me he couldn't do anything. I spent $200 and fixed the plumbing and drywall myself. Lee's came out three days later and denied any culpability, but confirmed that I had fixed it correctly. Fast forward to MAY, and I had listed my house for sale. My realtor told me that the permit was still outstanding with the county. So... they charged me too much money, caused damage to my house, and didn't even do the paperwork properly...which was the only reason I had them do it to begin with. I called Lee's and told them it needed to be closed. They said they didn't know if it had expired and would need to be reopened. They said they would call me the next day... they did not. I called two days later and received a similar level of ineptitude. I informed her that I was incredibly disappointed with my experience. She did not apologize or offer any resolution other than saying they would call me with more information the next day. Surprisingly... they did not. Two days later, my wife called the county to close the permit. The county sent it an inspector within 36 hours and closed the permit. I still have not heard from Lee's. I joined their maintenance club thinking it'd save me headaches--twice-a-year checks, peace of mind, right? Wrong. Every visit, they push some part like it's life-or-death. Last time? They sold me a capacitor I could buy online for twenty bucks--charged me four hundred sixteen dollars and seventy cents. That's over twenty times the price, not even close to fair. I only found out after Googling it myself. Worse: they left my system worse off. Before they showed up, everything ran fine. After? Motherboard fried. Not a coincidence. Had to call them back--different tech rigged it with some temporary wire just so I wouldn't melt that night. Now? No defrost, no heat from the pump. I'm stuck with a half-working unit. And that's not even the end of it--I'm left hunting for a new HVAC tech to come out and diagnose whether this was deliberate sabotage or neglectful testing processes. I get to deal with the repair hassle, file a complaint with the Florida Attorney General, probably lawyer up... oh, and write this negative review--plus one for the Better Business Bureau. To protect service members from their fraudulent business practices, I'll have to file a complaint with the DoD hotline, the local installation inspector general, and the Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board--get their unethical practices investigated, and hopefully make this company off-limits to all active-duty soldiers so they aren't taken advantage of. I wish the elderly had protections like the military does--to shield them from doing business with places like this. If you know me from my other reviews, you'll see I almost never leave bad ones. All my stuff's positive. But this? This forced my hand. I even talked to their team leader and general manager--same scripted line every time: "This is just an unfortunate coincidence." If you ever hear those exact words, know they're trained to dodge blame. No apology, no fix--unless you pay for more exaggerated repairs or parts that are excessively marked up. Look, I actually believe the technicians themselves are trying--they seem like decent folks who want to fix things. But the company's policies tie their hands: no real accountability for mistakes, and they're probably on some commission-based sales--getting paid extra to push those overpriced parts. Absolutely do not use this company. My grandfather received a flyer in the mail saying they will come out and do an inspection for free. My grandfather took it. They were honest with the problems with our air conditioning, but tried to take my grandfather to the cleaners. They tried charging him over $5,000 dollars to clean vents, the filter, and install a UV light. The UV light alone they said was $2,000. I later learned that the people that come out for the inspection work on commission. So, of course they are inflating the costs of their services to gain more money. When I told the man who came out it was absurd that a light would cost $2,000, his attitude completely flipped and he was throwing a hissy fit. I later called Economy. I saw they had good reviews on a local community board. They came out, saw the same issues, and said they would do it for less than half what Lee's hearing and cooling said. What was so horrible about it was that they were trying to play my 90-year-old grandfather by saying they'd give him a discount and that they respect veteran's because Lee is a veteran. Absolute BS. They were trying to scam an old man by playing at his heartstrings. Avoid this company and their predatory practices. read more

To start off this review the technician that came to my house was very professional. But that was where Justin's pleasantries stopped. Our AC unit ended up going out and it was 80 degrees in the house. We tried resetting the thermostat and everything, but nothing worked so we called Lee. Justin came to my house and said the Contact Capacitor (mind you there is no capacitor on my unit) and UV light needed replacing. I am currently pregnant, have a 19-month-old and 3 dogs so out of sympathy he offered to do a couple services for free, despite us paying him $50 for his diagnostic check. He pulled out Safe-T stopper without informing me. He also tried to upsell my husband for a Carbon Air Purifier at $417. Little did we know him pulling out the stopper would cause hell for the house and unit. My husband woke up the next morning and when he went downstairs, he discovered a crack in the ceiling. Upon further inspection visible water damage to the ceiling, and walls were discovered. We had to put down towels and a bucket because there was a leak. My husband proceeded to use a Shop Vac to unclog the drainpipe. We called American Home Sheild, and a mitigation team was sent to the house because they said that there actually were no issues with the unit at all. They tested everywhere and discovered severe water damage and flooding all throughout the house. They had to tear up the ceiling, floor and walls of the den, bathroom, and hallway. They placed loud dehumidifiers and fans all throughout the house that have to stay on for 5 days. While the mitigation team was tearing up the house JP (the customer advocate for Lee) called my husband and asked why he was so upset. My husband proceeded to say that he was not upset but grateful for whatever Justin may or may not have done to fix the unit. JP then said "Would you rather be hot or have a working unit" which is incredibly discourteous. Due to Justin's negligence, it may take up to 90 days at most to fix the mistake that he made. read more

I typically don't rate companies when I don't utilize their service, however, this one takes the cake for price gouging. Back in Sept/Oct I got 3 bids for a whole house generator, including Lee. The first 2 bids were within $2000 of each other, so within reason. Lee came out & their quote was THREE TIMES as much as the "low" one. Seriously, $33000 for a whole house generator. Well, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. I just laughed & told them "no thanks." The next day a "customer advocate" called me to check in on the quote. It didn't take long for that discussion to end as anytime one of 3 quotes is 3x higher than the others, I know they're trying to rip me off or don't know what they're doing. I only gave them the opportunity as they mail fliers every month, so I thought I'd see if they were quality & affordable. The only item they passed was their service was spot on for when they said they'd be out for the quote. There are other companies to consider, so please do. read more

I got a flyer in the mail for an inspection .they said I needed some ductwork done in 2 small sections...2 guys were here for about an hour and a half..never saw them bring in new materials but they took out a little of the old...they broke both ceiling entries to the attic...did not tell me...didn't get an estimate or receipt or material list...I am a 90 yr old air force widow and was ripped off terribly.. He did... and charged me $460 for showing up! He did replace a part that I have since found out was a fair price, but at what point was less than an hour of his time worth $460! DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! 1. They say 24 hour service, but did not answer or call me back on cold Saturday night. 2. Tech(Giovanni) showed up with a leak detector tool 3. Tech misdiagnosed my problem 2 times and I had to call Economy, who found the problem in 2 minutes and fixed it fast. 4. Charged me $314 dollars for first pound of refrigerant and $175 per pound for more. Economy charges $89 for each pound. 5. Manager Steve not very customer friendly and told me it really didn't matter if I was a customer anymore. 6. Read on for details. On a call Saturday evening my heat was blowing cold. So I called Lee heating about 10:30. They are supposed to be 24 hour, but nobody answered and did not return my call even though I left a message. Finally next morning I call and tech agrees to come out. He looks at unit and see a little staining near the valve you fill the outside unit with. He assumes it leaked from there. He refills system and waited for 10 minutes and all seemed well. He did not have a leak detector with him to confirm there was no leak. That night about 8 hours later, again the system blows cold air, not heat. I call them back. Giovanni comes back out, and while looking at the same valve, he sees a mist coming out the top. He looks up there and sees some oil on top of the grate. He then tells me the coil has a hole in the top and I need a new coil. He did not look further into the unit to see if it could be coming from elsewhere. He said I need to call the company that installed the unit. So I called Economy. They come out the next day, and in less than 2 minutes he sees the problem and shows me. There is a leak in one of the copper solder joints where it vibrates as the unit is working. This is a known problem with these unit. He takes the fan off, pushes lightly on that joint, and you can here it leak. He solders it in a couple minute. He then spends the next 90+ min pressure testing it with nitrogen. This apparently cleans out impurities and can show minimal pressure loss. Lee heating never did this. Finishes and recharges, checks to make sure sure the temps coming out of unit are good, and all has been good since. I called Lee to let them know my concerns. The woman said she will pass it to her manager Steve. 9 days later I call back because he never called me back. I finally get to speak to him and he defends they did everything right and tells me it really does not matter if I am a customer of theirs anymore. He said they did their job by getting my system working again, even though only for 8 hours or so. He said on the second visit the correct call was to call the installing company. So if you only want a temporary fix, call Lee. If you want a real fix, please call Economy. They were totally awesome and don't overcharge you for the refrigerant. Steve was totally unprofessional and unwilling to waiver that they did any wrong, even though it was actually only a 5 minute fix. So I had to pay twice. The company used well thought out bait-and-switch tactics with closing procedures that are calculated to align with the customers' weakened or desperate state to restore service. The seemingly shady business practices that I experienced during this transaction, is causing me to seriously consider writing a detailed paper about my experience to inform the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, local Realtors, and every retail and service industry that would use this company, so that others are aware of these tactics and avoid paying exorbitant fees for HVAC service or repair. Recovering from illness and in fear of the snow and extremely cold weather on the horizon, I nearly went against my gut-wrenching feelings and my nature not to make on-the-spot decisions involving large sums of money. And this my fellow readers is how you get gotten. Don't ever discount your intuition. If it feels wrong, it probably is! The quote was not even in the realm of fair. I don't know how in good conscious, the company could overprice services to this extent. Thank God I did not make an emotional decision because, turns out, the diagnosis was WRONG! It starts with THE BAIT: $29 service call to get them to your home. Then, THE SWITCH: an extremely high diagnoses fee, that after you get the quote, makes you want to pay for the service because you've already sunk so much for the diagnosis - and you're not getting this fee back. They got this approach down pat. THE CLOSE: With an urgency of "we can do the repair tomorrow because we have the parts", used as a distraction so you don't take time to think about it and ignore all the red flags flying over your head. But what do you do? You've already been taken for the high diagnosis fee that you're not going to get back. If I had not restrained myself from making a horrible emotional decision on the spot, and not called another company, I would have never known the diagnosis was WRONG and that their quote was 5 times higher than what it will actually cost to fix the real problem. That I was taken for an extremely high diagnosis fee was bad enough. But the thought of them further gouging me for the repair is sickening. Again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR HVAC SERVICE. Run, don't walk. If I could give them a zero to the negative 1,000 I would and that would still be too high of a score. The only thing Lee Heating and Cooling can do to make this situation right, is refund my money. Update: several days after this horrible experience, while I'm using 5 space heaters to stay warm, a rep from Lee left a voice message to see how the service went. I'd already found another company to do a correct diagnosis and make the repair. I then called Lee and gave the person I spoke with a full detail account of my experience and how dissatisfied I was with their approach. I stated the only thing they could do is make me whole by refunding ALL my money, especially since it was a wrong diagnosis. The gentlemen apologized for what happened and said he'd report this to his management. Two days later, I got a voice message that I would get a refund. I received a refund for the diagnosis fee but not the service call of $29. It should have been a full 100% refund, but I am happy with the results. Lee's Heating and Air overcharged me $600.00 to take this much lint out of my dryer exhaust line. I called and spoke to a supervisor and he acknowledged that apparently they had overcharged me. We agreed that he was still going to overcharge me more than any other local business charges for the same service by about times two but they would also run my service contract with the excess funds. hi had a new AC unit installed in August 2021. And the last four days I'm getting a message that my compressor is shutting off too early. So my house is getting to 80° for no reason I called to have someone come out and service it and they want to charge me $99 to do a diagnosis on it, the unit is less than five years old. I had a new unit installed less than a year ago. Now that summer is here it is running pretty much 14 to 18 hours straight just to keep home at 76 degrees. Unit it sweating dripping water. Had them out 3 time with last tech stating he didn't know what was wrong. I also left messages for Steve the general manager and didn't get call back till I called in tears. His replies kept being "well I don't know and hmmm' his final conclusion is that since house was built in 1973 , even though they supposedly check and repair the duct work before installing, my duct work is bad and that would have to be fixed to keep from running unit all the time. I had wallen hvac come by and they fixed me unit for a little over 100$. They not only over charge, but also attempt fraudulent repairs. Customers please learn from my mistake. read more

I've been doing business with Lee heating and Air for more than 5 years now since we moved to Pace. Recently I thought it was time to have the lint that led to the roof cleaned to keep from having any house fires. During an HVAC maintenance at my home I mentioned it to the technician and he called the company to set up an appointment for me to have the lint vent cleaned. I was a little astounded at the initial quote but I figured since I was a long time customer of Lee heating and Air that they would give me a bargain quote. When the two technicians came they went up on the roof one of them went up on the roof and they could not get the protective cone off the pipe so they said they would have to clean it from the source which was fine with me they spent about 15-20 minutes putting the links of the cleaning cleaning router up through the pipe when the bill came it was $600 after certain discounts. In the following weeks I have asked several companies and technicians who have visited a home about their pricing. Lee heating and air charged me more than 2 to 3 times what the going rate is for the cleaning I am currently waiting for a leak heating and air manager to contact me to see if we can work out a refund for the exorbitant amount that I paid for the vent cleaning. I think if we can't come to an agreement that I will need to go elsewhere to have my HVAC heating and air attended to with a maintenance plan we shall see. read more

This company installed a new heat pump/ac in our home in June, 2024 for $14,000. Here it is September, 2024, unit is not cooling. Called on Sunday, received no call back, finally we called them on Monday morning and they sent a technician that afternoon. After spending over three hours, telling me not to use the air filters I had bought, etc., he claimed it would take some hours for the house to cool down from 79 to 71. This sounded strange as it was extremely hot when we had the unit installed and it cooled our home very fast. Here it is Wednesday, unit has been running nonstop for three days, temperature is down to 76 probably because it's cooler this morning, but still has not reached the set temperature. Received a call from the company they are sending the SAME technician that spent over three hours working on it Monday and couldn't repair this brand new unit. This company does thier best to take advantage of the elderly. My elderly mother has dementia and in 2023 "Lee" came out to service her HVAC system they disconnected her heat and told her that she would "Die in her sleep" if she didn't pay them $11k for a new system. A different company was called and found nothing wrong and re-connected her heat. I called and explained Mom's dementia and told them to stay away. 3/1/24 "Lee" showed up again and again shut off her heat but this time she was going to die if she didn't pay them $13k to replace the system. Milton Heating and Air came out this time for a second opinion. Again, reconnected the heat and found nothing wrong. I heard the technician telling her that she was going to die from carbon monoxide poisoning and then he told me the same. What seems to really be happening here is they see elderly victim with an older system and try to exploit their age to take thier money. Predators at thier worst. Check out the Google reviews.
