UPDATE: Changed from 1 to 3 stars. Joe, the plumbing supervisor called and offered to refund the…read moreservice fee. He was truly concerned for making me happy and provided superior customer service. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Jacob E was very professional, friendly, and explained everything well. Arrived promptly, offered to remove his shoes, and was pleasant to chat with. I felt he would perform quality work. Initial call answered promptly and appointment scheduled. Friendly receptionist. Technician will arrive on Monday, but no timeframe. No problem, I work at home. Receptionist states they need a credit card on file. I asked why this was necessary. Received vague explanation about being a new company policy. Asked when this card would be charged, but could not offer an explanation. There was no choice in the matter, I provided my credit card (never provide a debit card). Backstory: I have two toilets which rock back and forth. Presumably, wood shims holding them level got wet and disintegrated. I knew there would be an $89 charge to come to my door, which is applied towards the work done. I was not fishing for quotes, knew it was an easy job, expected to have the work done that day, so had no concerns. Spent the day waiting. 3:00pm rolls around, no communication. Called to confirm appointment. Polite lady explains it was a busy plumbing day with many calls. Seemed odd to me as I had an appointment and should not be bumped. No worries, I am patient. Explains it could be as late as 9pm since they run calls until they are all complete. Ok, I am comfortable with that so long as it is completed today. I admire their commitment. Jacob arrives. We spend ~7 minutes chatting while he looks at the toilets. He talks about the situation as he is inspecting and what he would do. I feel comfortable in his ability. He then goes outside to prepare a quote. Keep in mind, I just need 2 toilets that are rocking fixed. One may need a new flange, but I know this is always extra. A little caulk to seal the job and we can call it a day. Quote comes back as $501.30. Now, I am not one to complain about paying someone for their time. I am unable to do plumbing work myself and will gladly pay to have it done right. I do however know what reasonable pricing is, and this is not reasonable. I can purchase 2 new toilets from Lowes and use their installation service for less than, or the same, amount of money than this "repair" quote ($129 toilet + $99 install + taxes). As I review the quote, Peaden uses a "fixed price" for this work (by the book). This fixed price came in the form of $263.63 for the first one, $237.67 for the second, to reset a water closet. There is no wiggle room knowing that this job is much simpler. There is no hourly rate + cost of materials + surcharge. This can work in your favor if a job goes sideways and there are lots of unknown issues, but for a small job like this, it is imposing. I declined the service. Now we get to the point where you feel robbed as they rightfully enforce their $89 "service" fee. At the time, I truly had felt wronged by the whole process. My later interaction with Joe, the plumbing manager and their refund of my service fee, shows that they truly do care for customer service. Despite my previous assertion I would not call them again (always felt they would do quality work), I have changed that opinion. I will consider them in the future. In my small need situation, their pricing system just did not work. For larger jobs, this will be a godsend. There is an invaluable lesson here. Thoroughly explain the situation to service people and ask for a non-binding estimate BEFORE a tech comes out to quote it and charge you the service fee.

I had my entire HVAC system replaced by Peadon and also purchased their maintenance membership…read more Unfortunately, every maintenance visit turned into them "finding" something wrong. The biggest red flag was being told that my 3‑year‑old system needed a full coil replacement. The part was under warranty, but Peadon still charged nearly $3,000 for labor. I later learned their maintenance techs earn a percentage of the repair bill, which explains why issues were constantly being identified. A system this new should not require major component replacements, and the constant upselling made me lose trust. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Peadon.

Scapin is a solid option for just about any electrical job. On this recent experience, I had a…read morebasic project of getting multiple light switches hooked up for a porch light that I recently bought, I hesitantly tried doing it myself but flaked out after an hour, don't judge me. Anyway, Scapin came to the rescue just a few short days later and took care of it. Initial charge to have them come out was around $125 (I think) plus the cost of labor and a new switch box they had to add on, it came up to $190 total. A bit pricey, but I was happy with the job they did. The payment system could be better. For one you can't pay the workers up front you have to wait on them to mail you the bill, they said they would email me the invoice which I preferred but that email never arrived. They accept credit card but you are responsible for paying the 7% convenience or credit card charge (not sure if that's what they call it). You also have the option to pay them cash in person by driving to the business yourself. The service was good overall, my only complaint was how they handle the billing. Another one, was when I called them to request a quote on a much bigger project, they said they would call me to schedule a visit, but they never called.

This is a great company. I will be using them again. I have other electrical work that needs to be done at this property. I won't be using anyone else.
