I found their Gewurztraminer quite interesting; it's not as sweet as others I've tasted. All the white wines we tried were light and easy to drink. We ended up purchasing Madeleine Angevine, which is a bit more dry and crisp. The outdoor patio and picnic area were lovely. They offer a Sunday brunch buffet that pairs well with their wines, featuring meats, cheeses, baked goods, and a chocolate fountain! We stumbled upon this place when the GPS took us on the wrong route to Chaberton Winery and lost…read moreour way. We decided to stop here when backtracking to Chaberton as it was on the way. Unfortunately the tasting of 6 different flavored mead made us a bit too woozy to go across to Township 7 vineyards for more wine tasting. Luckily there's a traveling tea shop on the lawn where we could sober up with some high tea food or sandwiches or charcuterie board. I never realized there are quite a fair bit of wineries in the Langley/Abbotsford area. You don't really need to go far to kelowna if you're short on time. We also saw horses out here. Too cute. And really a wonderful way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. This place specializes in mead. You can be a club member and there are special meads for members. They do a tasting for $10 which is waived with purchase of a bottle ($26). I love how the staff will tell a story or origins of the name for their different meads. Dry mead -- the original. I tend towards sweeter alcohol and I'm surprised I could drink this. Not overly sweet. It is light and crisp with a bit of bubbly (not fizzy) to me. Very refreshing. Ginger mead -- I like ginger but not in this mead. A bit herbal to me. Lavender mead -- it's the prettiest with the violet hue. It smells of lavender but the taste sticks for the longest time for me. Cranberry mead -- a light orange pink color. It's very tart. Vinum Regum -- 2 versions, we tried the reserved one which is aged for 90 days in oak barrel so it has a Smokey flavor like whiskey. It's really strong for me. Lvna (Luna) -- mulled mead which has winter spices like mulled wine. This is the sweetest. Very nice. They have other fruity flavors like pear. Lovely staff and definitely come here if you want some uncommon flavored mead.

The tasting room inside is dark, needs more light and windows, and has some tables and chairs for people to sit. We were greeted by two ladies at the counter who explained the wines and tastings. You can get three testers for $8, or 4 for $11 including a special flagship wine they have. In my experience when you go to a winery there is a five dollar tasting fee, which is waived when you buy a bottle. Not only were these steep tasting fees, they do not get waived if you buy a bottle. Poor decision on their part in my opinion as most people would just buy a bottle. This is where things got weird. Their tasting room is where they are licenced...and there is a nice patio/wrap around deck with seating, but that isn't licenced so we weren't allowed to bring our tasters out there. However, they said there's an area on the grass with chairs that we could use. Ok great, but wait! There's a TEN DOLLAR FEE just to use that area?!? What? They told us the ten dollar fee is good towards a tasting... but we couldn't use it towards our first tasting? It was all very confusing and seemed very chintzy to me considering we were already buying tasters. The staff honestly also seemed very flustered and unorganized. One kept rambling about different aspects of the winery but very tangentially. The wines itself were ok. My favourite was their "meritage" blend. I wouldn't come back here until they made major changes that made them on par with other wineries in the lower mainland (highly recommend backyard winery and domaine de chaberton)

I ordered a flight of the reds (that's 5 tastings!) and knew I was going to buy two of them - the cab franc and the merlot were soooo tasty and easy on the nose. I had a liking about a third, so ordered a glass to decide. I got to sit outside, covered by a patio draped in grape vines, next to a gorgeous tractor, all while listening to farm animals (rooster, chicks, lambs) at the connected farm. It was idyllic! HIGHLY recommend. (And yes, I did end up getting the 3rd: the Hot Pursuit.) The folks that work there are also kind and speedy with service. I'm going back for sure!

Due to covid, safety protocols are in place. While I like seeing the array of items they have besides wine, it is a very different experience. There is no tasting so you are buying the wine blind like in a liquor store. You need to know what you want. There are only 3 types of wine here -- blueberry, cranberry and white cranberry. My friend likes the white cranberry. I do like the small little shop which is quite charming.

Their happy hour runs from 2-5pm and includes cocktails, glasses of wine and wine flights. We indulged in a self-selected wine tasting (five, 2 ounce pours) and were so impressed that we ended up leaving with 3 bottles (2022 Rose, Stoneboat "Piano" brut, and Rosé Frizzante 2022). Colby, our connoisseur (and new BFF), was very knowledgeable and accommodating in answering our questions and offering suggestions. We will definitely be back for more wine!
