I want to be very clear up front: I've consistently received excellent haircuts at this location…read more Many of the barbers here are skilled, professional, and encouraging -- including encouraging follow-ups or touch-ups when appropriate. I've appreciated that and want to acknowledge the quality of their work. Unfortunately, I can no longer be a patron of this shop because of the behavior of the person who runs it, Rachel. I recently received a voicemail intended for me, but it continued beyond the initial message. In the portion that followed, I overheard disparaging comments made about me to staff...including inaccurate statements and an unprofessional tone...spoken under the assumption that I was no longer listening. I raised this directly and respectfully, giving Rachel the opportunity to take responsibility and repair the situation. Instead of ownership or accountability, the response was dismissive and attempted to redirect the conversation away from the behavior that was overheard. For me, how someone conducts themselves...especially when they believe they are speaking privately...matters. While I value the barbers here and their work, I won't continue to support a business where leadership speaks about clients in that way and then refuses to take responsibility when confronted. This is a principled decision. I wish the individual barbers well, but I won't be returning.

On a recent trip to the BMO on Whyte, I noticed a new barbershop had opened up. Two weeks overdue…read morefor a haircut, I decided to check it out. The narrow shop is nicely and newly appointed with three comfy-looking barber chairs at the front, and a seating area in the back where you can watch TV or read a magazine while you wait. The barber, Noel (formerly of Tidory's downtown, I think), was super friendly and instantly understood the (admittedly simple) cut I was seeking. The cut was excellent, and I appreciated the attention to detail as he finished the cut with a straight razor around the hairline. Overall, an excellent cut in a friendly atmosphere for less than $20. I'll definitely be back.

He's looking real good. ;) Before this he went to a salon with fancy shampoos, scalp massages and cucumber water but none of that made up for a mediocre cut. Like many barbers, they do not take appointments but because they're so efficient I can't see it being a problem. My husband went at 4:00 on a Wednesday and didn't wait. It's Whyte ave so of course you need to consider parking and they don't have extended hours but all things considered, it seems worth the effort.
