I've been coming here for 7 years and the consistency is never a question. As someone who struggles with anxiety disorder, Connor (my regular) has always made Barber Ha feel like a safe space. I'm certain that Barber Ha hand picks staff who have great interpersonal skills which puts their customers at ease. When I book an appointment, I look forward to quality chats and some good laughs. I never have to worry about how my cut will turn out because I leave feeling fresh af. I truly appreciate the Barber Ha team and the welcoming environment they foster. read more

Best place that you could ever get your hair cut for men. Connor is an absolute legend. He's been cutting my hair perfectly since he started three years ago. That being said, I'm sure anyone there would do an amazing job. read more

Long story short I needed someone to fix up my hawk since the last one that did it messed it up. (Think Puck from Glee. Straight... Simple, NOT complicated at all). Found Barber Ha online, and it sounded like a cool place to go. So I booked a "head shave" online... since really it's just shaving my entire head cept for a strip in the middle. Site glitched up the first time, but it went though the second time, booking an appointment with Brittini. Arrived there, no one acknowledged me at all when I walked in, which ok, they're busy... (Although the one was just cleaning up) I sat there for about 10 min until one of them was behind the counter and said who I was and when my appointment was. Brittini said she could start on me right away despite me being early... I showed her two photos of me previously with the haircut I wanted, and I said it's just a straight thick line back. She said she understood, I took my glasses off and away she went. She had a very rough and odd clipper style, but I just went with it. After about 15 min it just didn't "feel right" where she was shaving (or more so where she wasn't), I tossed my glasses back on, and she was doing this oval thing on top of my head... not at all what I asked for (or what was in the photos I showed her). So I showed her the photos again, and described it again... and she went at it... So awhile later she comments about being almost done, I put my glasses on, and comment about how it's not totally straight... and she spends some more time on it... even bringing the senior stylist over (possibly supervisor / manager) and she did a bit of work on it, and said it was straight. (Now, I need new glasses, their chairs are pretty far away from the mirrors, so it seemed ok... and honesty after her taking 45 min, what takes other people maybe 20... I just wanted to get out of there...) OH, and she also charged me 30 bucks for what should have been a 15 head shave (if she would have known what she was doing) I get home and look in the mirror before going to bed, and sure enough it wasn't straight... I ended up cleaning it up, and figured it was ok for now. Fast forward 2 weeks to me now being in Vancouver, and getting it cut at another place... The stylist was like "um, so have you seen the back?" (because I told her about my prior experience), I told her "No, actually... she never showed me the back..." so she showed me the back and it was totally crooked. Not just a little, but a lot... So, I've been walking around looking silly for the past 2 weeks. Thanks Barber Ha! (Apparently the "Ha" in the name is for the "Hahaha" they're laughing at you walking out the door at how silly you're looking.) read more

Barber Ha is the kind of barber shop i've been trying to find for years. They of course only do mens cuts, and they do them well. I happen to have very curly and wavy hair, so that comes with it's own set of challenges to deal with. I have always had an extremely difficult time finding a barber who is skilled in dealing with my frizzy-fro, and usually end up settling for a barber that just cuts it so short that the curls are a non factor. Unfortunately, that's not a good look for me. Beth not only gave me a great cut, she did exactly what I had always wanted someone to help me do.... she worked WITH my hair instead of against it. She cut my hair in a way to make my style much more manageable, and showed me how I can keep it looking good every day without expert help. I usually hate my haircut for a few days afterwards until it grows in again, but I loved what Beth did right from the start and I'm still loving it a week later. My wife said it's the best haircut I've had ever. For $25 you get a basic cut, and post-cut shampooing. For $55 you can get a cut and a hot shave. Or for even more value, Barber Ha has a program called "The Legion" whereby you pay a yearly fee (I believe $278 but don't quote me on that) that gives you unlimited haircuts and neck trims for a year. Plus 20% off all product. Great deal for someone like me who needs some curl enhancing/ frizz reducing products to help tame the beast. I went in looking like Bob Ross, and left looking more like Colin Firth. You can't get a better endorsement than that. read more

The best barber shop in YEG! I have been getting my hair cut here for 6 years and am never dissatisfied. From the quality of cuts to the customer service this place is top notch! read more

Great little barber shop, recently relocated to Whyte Ave! I love how simple and straight-forward this place is. It's no-fuss, no-muss. Come in, sit down, get a simple cut (mainly done with clippers) and go. And the actual cut itself is clean, modern, and sharp! What more could a guy ask for? I took advantage of their Legion club - which entitles the card bearer to unlimited haircuts for a year (I believe that it was just under $300). I think this will be a great way to incent myself to get the number of haircuts each year that I need, instead of waiting until the last minute and fitting them into my schedule and budget. I've also tried their straight-razor shaves. It was easily the closest shave I've ever had, and spa-like experience in an exclusively masculine way. I'm looking forward to the next year of haircuts at Barber Ha! read more

VERY energetic place, very social and "happening". Linda cut / styled my hair exactly what I was looking for. Great conversation, and interesting ideas for her business. She was a hoot! It was also refreshing to find the place: - packed - alive with conversation (even between customers and stylists (not like traditional places where one stylist isn't "allowed" to speak to another stylist's client!) Typically, people hope to also see some critical view as well, but I guess the only thing I could say is that they're on the second floor (but that might only be a real issue for the business vs the customer). I kind of liked heading up the stairs - it added to the "I'm heading for a new experience" feel. Also liked the "left to the Beauty Parlour" or "right to Barber Ha" landing I arrived at. I DO however, feel like I'd better get working on my tattoo sleeve! One of the skills I've developed over 40 years in retail is the ability to get an immediate "feel" of how a business is doing, is it still alive, and what would be my prediction. This place is basically exploding with life, and I know there are some great successes in their future. VERY glad I decided to try the place! read more

$45 for a men's haircut nothing fancy a simple fade and shorten the top - and it took 50 minutes. I've had haircuts since that cost around $20 that took 20 minutes and were just as good if not better. The technique the barber used also left my scalp feeling quite raw, using unnecessary amounts of passes with the clippers. this place to me just isn't legit. some hipster fad charging lots of money with severe lack of talent and skill. no thanks read more

You said, " Very cool vibe and friendly atmosphere. A perfect mix of old and new. Great location, but parking can be tough to find so leave extra time to account for this. Prices were reasonable, but m head shave was pretty straightforward. I will be back for the Skin Fade next time. " read more

Got a haircut by Mark. He listened to what I wanted and specific issues with my hair and went to work on the best haircut I've had in years.

" It was thorough and it was easy for adjustments. She did a great job and asking me how I wanted it and she cut it how I like it and was open to feedback and a pleasure to have her cut my hair " read more

This was the finest beard trim I have ever received (by a good mile), and the first haircut I've had in ages after which I look significantly younger. Outstanding results, and a very pleasant experience. read more

I've been once for a haircut and it was great. I paid a very reasonable $28 for a basic fade, and was very happy with the results. So when my partner needed a straight shave I suggested Barber Ha. I wish I hadn't. All he needed was this jawline and cheek line cleaned up, and neck shaved. The shave was uneven, stray hairs left around the ear, and nothing done to straiten up the cheek line. He was charged $38 for a neck shave... $38. to have his neck. shaved. Needless to say I was super disappointed. read more

I've been wanting to grow out my undercut for a while, so I can eventually tie it back. It was growing fantastically from a previous haircut in my old city, but I thought I could use a trim for the summer and keep it a bit neater. I showed Linda(?) 3 photos of what I wanted my hair to look like. I asked for a simple trim with 2 inches off top and the sides faded up. She did a great job on the sides, but she completely messed up the top, which is the most important part of that style. I agreed to have the top shortened by 2 inches just to keep it a bit neat, but she cut off two inches on one side and four inches on the other. What would cut my hair asymmetrically when my whole goal was to be able to style it straight back?! What sucks is that I wasn't even able to tell how short she cut it on just one side until two months ago, it still bothers me so much since it's a pain to style each day. She also messed up my hairline by fading it near the top on one side of my head. She was always talking to arriving/leaving regular customers the whole time, I felt that she was barely paying attention to how she was cutting my hair. This place is all hype and no skill. Based on their instagram, they all seem to cut their customers' hair based on one style (faded sides, comb over top), and now it seems like that's all they're literally skilled enough for. Barber? Ha! read more

Had a great cut & trim with mark. Natural talent. Works quick and with grace. Always an interesting conversation. $35 is a bit of a steep jump, should throw in shampoo. But it's extremely busy. I've had haircuts all over edmonton, and Vancouver too. There's nothing like barber ha. Best bang for your buck. + there are options in pricing. I wasn't charged for a badly needed beard trim as well. Most barbers or salons charge $10. Imagine. My cut is simple. And this is the only place that does it well! read more

Disappointed. Called yesterday to make appt for beard trim and hot shave. Was told they don't take appointments. No problem. I go this morning when they open and they said they are fully booked. I thought you told me you don't take appointments. She said they were fully booked yesterday already. So I guess they accept appointments from some people but not others. Probably won't try again. read more

A classic barbershop gets it right. Wash, clippers, scissors, shave, pomade. For touting itself as a barbershop it misses on several levels. For 50$ you will receive a clipper hair cut in a half finished space, reminiscent of an in out hair cutting spot in 30 minutes. Thoroughly not impressed when comparing to prior experiences with joints like this, where for the same price, you were treated like royalty (scotch, cigar, hot towel) not in n out for profit. Cannot recommend, regardless of service, the haircut was bad, uneven and rushed. Went back for a second try to be fair. They have a 24hr cancellation policy where they charge you if you cancel within that time limit. But they can cancel within 30 min of your appointment with nothing more than sorry. I stand by the original post and cannot recommend this wannabe barbershop that is based on a fad. read more

My husband booked way in advance for haircut and beard trim. When he sat down for consult he was told that there wasn't enough time for a shave and a haircut. It was one or the other. He was able to get a beard trim. The girl had a careless attitude. There was no lotions, no hot towels. No pampering of any sort. It was really not worth the visit for the beard care. She did cut his hair nice though, but never mentioned giving a shampoo. She seemed more interested in visiting with her coworker than paying attention to the customer. Overall it was an underwhelming visit. The stylist's name was Julia. read more

I called in the morning to see if I could get in that day and there was one slot available so I booked it. I went in for a hair trim and a beard trim, both have not seen a scissor or blade for about three years. I wanted something that looked good, trimmed the split ends and made it healthy, yet did not want to lose any more length than absolutely necessary. I was greeted courteously at the front counter upon arrival and told I did not have long to wait. Shortly thereafter Alicia came and introduced herself and went to work. She put considerable time and effort into her work after considering what I was after and adding her own professional input. She was very thorough and delivered an excellent end result, all the while maintaining a personal and professional attitude. I am very happy with the results and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a hair and/or beard trim!!! read more

actually taking the time to signup to talk about my experience with them. So I had an appointment with a hairdresser today, made the appointment yesterday at noon for today at 5pm. They called to cancel my appointment for the weirdest reason ever: we cant take you for a haircut, but only for a buzz cut. So I asked them why ? they said they have too many people in one day for me to be able to get my hair cut, but they can give me just a buzz. I booked yesterday, how about you say no to customers who booked today. not because you overbooked, that I need to be canceled. I'm guessing they'd rather have as many customers in a day.... Who calls 24h later, regardless that I did leave a message on the comment section when I booked online saying "man' haircut only". They lost a potential customer ! read more

Feels like you actually listen to what I say and give a shit about doing it. Very rare. The only tough part is how far in advance you have to make appointments, but that's probably just a sign of how well the business is run. read more

" Vinny was awesome. He listened to me intentively and delievered an excellent tapered fade. My hair is pretty fine so it took skill to get the result I was looking for. My boyfriend heard amazing things about this place so he decided to go. We went on a Saturday expecting it to be packed but it was extremely dead (bad sign)! My boyfriend asked the receptionist to put him with a senior stylist as his hair can be tricky but was instead put with a girl who had worked there for two months. He had to explain to the girl numerous times how he wanted his haircut (he said it the same way every time but she just did not understand...and it was just painful watching him tell her over and over again).. So after over an hour she finally finished butchering his hair (that's me putting it politely) and we left. You couldn't really tell how bad it was until we went outside.. He has a combover-sidepart-pompadour-whatever you want to call it cut and any stylist knows it isn't the hardest cut in the world. Basically the side wasn't faded correctly and little bits of hair were sticking out like a porcupine, the hard part shaved in was crooked, the back wasn't blended correctly (the fade was a 00 straight to 1 and it was very choppy not in a straight line), she didn't clean up his neck line and there was a giant ledge in the back where the hair should be blended into the top. He asked her to thin out the top of his hair and edge the hairline, she thinned out the ends of the hair and rounded his hairline. I'm a hair stylist so I know a bad cut when I see it. Not worth the 30 dollars. It was something that should've happened at great clips or magic cuts where you pay 10 dollars. I called and complained and the receptionist was somewhat helpful but didn't really know what to do. I was watching some of the other stylist like Mark and he seemed awesome. I guess getting you hair cut here is like Russian roulette, some cuts are incredible and some are awful....And with that my boyfriend will not be back. It really sucks when you have to go to a different hair cutting place 15 minutes later to get it fixed. read more

Terrible service, high prices, uneven neck line, no detail work completed, no blow off and no option to even have a wash. This was on my first visit! I am a positive person and want to give this small business a second try so on my second appointment that I booked online two weeks in advance for 10:00AM, whyte ave was having street construction which was not planned making parking and driving congested however I showed up a 10:08 AM and my stylist was not out front but sitting in the back having a coffee. I waited until 10:12 AM when she came out and said that she could not cut my hair because I was late. I requested just a clean-up because I was here two weeks ago which is not to be charged according to their website and she refused. I was standing there with 20 minutes for a haircut and she walked away. Terrible small business! They will have a difficult time with this customer service and overall service. read more
