I had my hair cut here for about a year or so, and overall the cuts were really good. I never really had a set person, but all the stylists I saw seemed to do an equally good job. All were quite friendly too. Also never had too much difficulty getting in. I never had the time to take advantage of the free trim that was included, but it's a nice idea to throw in The main reason I stopped going was the location. As I live on the south side, there are plenty of equally good places in the Whyte ave area that are much more convenient. The price is on the high end for a men's cut, especially once you added in a tip. I think it's worthwhile to spend the extra money if you have longer hair where a quality cut matters. But if you get a shorter cut, there isn't much difference between a $50 cut and a $30 cut. As I've recently been going more to shorter cuts, it didn't seem as worthwhile to make the investment in travel time and money. They do seem to be drifting away from the "man" focus. Each time I went, there seemed to be more women getting cuts there. That doesn't bug me, but I think it's maybe a sign their prices aren't matching the demand of Edmonton men. read more

I went to The Men's Room for two years exclusively and had cuts from nearly all of the stylists there. I usually requested Megan but I never had a bad cut from any of them. The atmosphere is relaxing, with TVs above the chairs and some fun banter between both the stylists and the clients. It was always a fun atmosphere, you can feel the life when you walk in. The Men's Room also offers a free clean-up for the period up to two weeks after your initial appointment. For people like myself that was perfect; my hair grows quickly enough in two weeks that I at least need a trim by that point. The free clean-ups allowed me to only have to pay to get my hair cut once a month, which was a nice change. I only recently stopped going to TMR because of its location; being in the west end is very convenient for some but unfortunately not so much for myself. I do highly recommend paying them a visit though. You won't be disappointed! read more

After many years of dreading haircuts due to the lack of care or time spend on a cut I was finally recommended this shop from a friend. The staff are great and well trained. And you can count on them being there next time you need a cut. They do great work in any style of cut. Also offering shaves. It costs a little more than some shops but it is well worth it. I booked hot shaves here for my wedding (5 total). I was told that we should book for a two hour window so that there is time for everyone. When the day came we were taken in on time, and we were finished in less than 40 minutes. As none of us had received a hot shave before we didn't know what to expect. The staff took good care of us and seemed very professional. A couple of my groomsmen got a nick or two but we all said that we might have to come back and have another one in the future. read more

I've got difficult hair to style. I've had many a bad haircut, and whenever the traumatic experience of having to find a new stylist happens, its usually a pretty stressful thing for me to find someone new. Last year, I had to find a new stylist and after reviewing several websites and review sites, I decided to try the Mensroom. At $40, the price was more than I had been paying previously (though, not by a whole lot) and the cleanup service in my view, made up for the price difference. The new location is big, bright, and does not have the cramped feel of the old location. My stylist, Adelai, is very personable and does a fantastic job. I'm really happy with the service I get from the Mensroom and it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the market for a new place to get your haircut. read more

Was told "Men don't have bangs" when I asked for a longer cut, and to let it hang to the side. It was as if I was requesting her to put curlers in my hair or something. My requests were taken lightly and brushed off for something she felt was more macho, and was really an average hair-cut. In approximately twenty minutes my husband emerged with the most wonderful haircut. Amber indeed managed to re-create the cut from the book he liked so much:clean and short at the back and on the sides, with long-ish hair at the front. Made an appointment for 4:30, it was confirmed by them. They called back later in the day to say the appointment had to be changed as the stylist was sick. No worries, what bothered me was to keep the time of 4:30, only one of their "master stylists" was available otherwise I'd have to move to a later time. They claimed there would be an additional $8 charge to keep 4:30pm. When I asked why their issue became my increased price, I was transferred to the manager who said "our stylists are commissioned at different rates but if it means that much to you....." I had already decided this isn't the place for me. Pretty poor business practice to make your customers feel like they're being cheap or inconveniencing you when they're not able to make their commitments. She made it sound like I'd be taking money from that stylist because she had to work for her at a lower rate. Yikes, tough place to work. read more

After reading all the reviews I thought to myself this might be a place worth spending the extra money for but I was not pleased I was very disappointed with my haircut. A 50$ haircut needs to stand out, there was very little done that would really make me want to come here regularly. I've spent 60$ on haircuts before and the service was outstanding and the amount of time and effort was clearly visible throughout my experience. The lady butchered my beard. Had a 4" beard I loved, asked for a trim with no more than half length cut off. When she was done I had a chin strap that was only a millimeter or two in length and not even close to my style or what I clearly asked for. I've been getting my hair cut exclusively at the Men's Room for a couple of years now. On my first visit i was a little taken aback by the stylist's lack of tact and her assertion that my short hair style that followed the contour of my skull was a more feminine cut. I let that slide and took the stylist's advice. I kept the same stylist and thought she was getting to know my hair and train it. I was quite insulted on my last visit when she asked me in a condescending tone if I wanted to keep the mullet. What? That's what taking her advice got me. Went there today and got a haircut. I live in St. Albert but thought I would drive into Edmonton for a unique "men's" experience. The haircut was $42 (plus a $10 tip) and the haircut was average. My stylist was Kirsten who spent all of 25 minutes cutting my hair. She never once used scissors to cut my hair but gave me the electric razor cut. Truly annoying though was that she spent the entire time trying to sell me Crew hair product. I have to say it is very disappointing to me that no one seems to understand that men are willing to pay for a good haircut experience but you have to do something that differentiates you from my local Barber who charges me $12. Sorry Men's Room but you just didn't cut it! read more

I just got a haircut there the other day to try it out and my hair looks fine... it's not really what I told her I wanted but it's still okay. I feel like I got a boys haircut, rather than a mens haircut. At $50.00 I guess I expected my stylist to get me a bit more style.
