Dirty barber shop, seen the owner not clean his brushed and just wash them in the sink with just water between clients. Barber side jars not used by the owner, witnessed an hour of him not cleaning his tools while my boyfriend got a haircut. The tall girl looked like she was cleaning all tools but had a look of disgust that she had to cut clients hair. The lady at the back seemed nice and clean but talked about conspiracy's the hour straight. Rude staff , big staff turnover and terrible haircuts. read more

I brought my son here recently when the wIt across the way at Tommy Gunn's was over an hour. My son was reluctant and nervous to try somewhere new. When we walked in, it took awhile for us to be acknowledged despite two people on the floor - a barber doing a cut on a gentleman and a younger female stylist towards the back sitting down. Eventually my son was paired with the younger female stylist. Either she's not experienced with kids or maybe doesn't like cutting kiddo hair (son is 8 years) but the experience was a little uncomfortable. My son is pretty good at sitting still but moves a bit when the razor is "tickly" to his neck. I don't recall her making any small talk with him or asking him any questions. The only things I heard her say to him were to sit still or he'd get cut or his haircut would be bad. I get that he needs to be still but you'll catch more bees with honey when talking to a kiddo - or at least my son. The haircut was good but not one that stands out as a fave. The price was the same as Tommy Gunn's but came with less - no wash, no treats (like pop), and of course no cool video games, lol. I wanted to give thIs Barber Shop another try to support local but I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. So 2 stars it is - I hate giving 2's but the shell rating system dictates that 3 stars = a okay and 2 stars = Eek, me thinks not. And unfortunately that's where we're at. The customer service experience wasn't positive and the value for $25 was less than other Barber Shops. Maybe this place is the bomb.com for regular adults but not for my kiddo. read more

I have not had a "barber" I have been loyal to since I moved to Edmonton 20 years ago. In college I went to whoever had hottest girls. Now its best cut and who can get me in. What can you say about a barber shop? I mean it is nice and clean inside. Has that hip ambience that most barber shops are going for these days. Staff was friendly enough. It's always tough finding a good place for a quick, easy and here's the kicker, reasonably priced place to get your monthly haircut. Ok, more like your month and a half haircut - it all depends on the weather, at least that's my excuse. Well gents, I think I found a pretty good spot. After trying everything from student hair academies (dirt cheap but so slow with a 50% of getting a bad one) to pricier hair salons (generally good haircuts but way too expensive for my tastes). Anyways, the place is called Barber Shop Boyz. Tucked in a little random strip mall in St. Albert, I stumbled upon this place one day and have been going ever since. The owner, Sam, is a very chill and easy going guy that knows how to cut hair. They have another barbershop out in the east end of the city. The last time I went, a lovely lady did my hair and I was thoroughly impressed. A hair cut costs $15 for adults which is very, very reasonable. Just walk in and wait (if there's a small line, don't worry - it won't be a long wait). Anyways, great spot which I should probably have kept on the down low. You're welcome. read more

I've only recently joined the world of hair and its complicated and challenging. But this barber shop has made it a lot easier. Sam is the owner and my prefered barber. He is very knowledgable and makes good suggestions to my requests. I actually like his most recent style enough to get it done a second time. His decor is minimal with some cool photos on the walls and a few sofas. The tv will distract you while you wait because there is no appointments in the barber world. For the basic cut its very affordable (under $20 for cut, tax and tip) but I sometimes get the wash and style which is only a few extra bucks but worth it if you're going out right away. St Albert has a lot of barbers and this is the one I choose to spend my money at because of the service, cut quality and experince. Thanks Sam! read more

I've been wavering between three or two stars, and finally am giving it three mostly because I've actually had worse experiences elsewhere. I took my grandson here because I wanted his wonderful fluffy, semi-curly-when-it-gets-unruly hair to get a "little" bit cut and shaped. The last time I took him to a non-kids shop (such as Beaners), they completely ignored my clearly stated wishes and scalped him. What is it about a kid and a pair of clippers - do you HAVE to shave it all off? This shop is in a large room, although there are only a couple of barber chairs, so it doesn't feel crowded and is pretty clean and comfortable. It didn't take long for our turn, and I tried to describe what I did - and DID NOT want. Well, it still turned out waaaaaay shorter than I wanted, even with me saying over and over during the cut that I didn't want it short, but I think the barber was actually kind of playing with me, continuously cutting more and more and taunting that it started out so long it was nearly a mullet. Hey, it simply was over his collar a bit, it was NOT approaching mullethood, and I'm not weird because I don't want a buzzcut on the kid. I'm finding it frustrating that the shops I've taken him to all want to just buzz him short no matter what i say - it must just be the easiest thing for them to quickly do. It's what my mother used to do to my brothers when they were young, but she had no training and didn't charge for her time. Maybe mens shops just don't want to work on a kid who giggles because the clippers tickle his ears and has to be reminded to sit up straight on their booster seat - I can't argue that it's a whole different experience :-) read more

I came in with good expectations since the Barber Shop Boyz in north Edmonton is great. I had a picture of what I wanted done ready to go (Hair/beard style) I show it to him and away we go. The beard is the important part here, I wanted it short on the sides and long in front For most of the time I was in the chair, I wasnt facing the mirror, instead I was faced towards another customer or the wall (depending on where he turned me). Know whats awkward? Staring contests with strangers. Its weird not facing the mirror, just saying Anyway, he does the haircut, which is fine, then he starts trimming the sideburns which is fine but then he just goes right from my chin to my nose and cuts it all off. Completely opposite of what I showed him. He basically did a poor job of what I do at home where I trim it all to one length. When I brought it up to him, he said "it'll grow back". Not even kidding. Save your beard and find a better place. read more

I ditched Barber Ha (one of the highest rated on Yelp) on 82nd Ave in favour of this place because: They do a great job. TSN is always on the TV while you wait. A hair cut @ $15 doesn't break the bank. The owner knows everyone and is very personable. Plenty of free F250 accommodatingly sized parking spaces. Located beside a Tim Hortons. The bad is that the location isn't very fancy and seems pretty empty inside but what kind of sensible man goes to a barber to look at the decor; that's right, nobody! read more

Terrible experence here today for my 3 year old son. So dissapointed, as my husband and son have gone here a few times and had great service. The barber we had today was not one he has seen here previous. She was rude and had a terrible attitude from the start. She was frustrated because my son would move, because he was ticklish and she was very rude, told him to stop moving, and that he wasn't getting a lollipop because he was bad. I went to this barber shop and it was the worst haircut experience I have ever gotten I would rather given my 9 year old niece a pair of scissors and asked her to cut it instead of the shorter guy that works here. I asked for my hair to be a certain way and he agreed then he asked me again and showed me what he was going to do and it didn't even come close to what he was describing to me. I'm very upset and I don't even know why I paid. I will never be going back to this barber shop because of how horrible of a job this guy did. read more

Tried this place called barbershop boyz and damm I gotta say the haircut I got was fresh. The wait was only ten minutes, they had 3 waiting and 3 cutting, one of the girls cut my hair and they were all very friendly and the owner was a pretty chill guy and knew everyone that walked thru the door. Just got a haircut from BSB and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. The cut was great, but the experience was not good at all. Staff were not friendly when I came in, one was eating a meal out front, and the demeanour of the staff in was unhappy. This business has so much potential to be an awesome barber shop. The cuts are good, prices are great, and the location is good. They are just missing the customer service part. I could have gone on an off day, but I would hope that this is not the norm. read more

Barely spoke to me, seemed annoyed at even having to cut my hair. Won't be going back there, other barbers are more personable, and offer the little things (gel for example). read more
