Only reason why I came here was because I didn't want to go all the way to see my family doctor unless if I absolutely needed as it would take a while to get there. Today I had to visit this place again and my goodness does this place needed a overhaul. It looked pretty much the same as it did last time I was there. The good news is that despite the usual complaints regarding the wait time, I ended up seeing a doctor a lot earlier than expected. The female doctor I saw today was friendly enough and realized I needed antibiotics for the time being due to having a wound that looked like it might've been infected. Their place is definitely not the best, but I definitely say it could've been much worse after realizing the negative feedbacks it been receiving lately.

She took ample time to discuss our mom's care options with us, walking us thru a tumultuous time and righting wrongs that others had done (by providing the very best care until the very end). She provided a lot of reassurance during the stages of end of life care. We would have been a mess emotionally and medically, had it not been for her guidance to our family and mother. She also helped our family harmonize differing points of view we had that were splintering our family, by providing sound advice and evidence of the best steps to take. One of the best physicians and human beings I have ever met. Respectful of all faiths, traditions and cultures and familiar with eastern and western traditions and a deep understanding of the death process and transition to beyond. After checking for tendon damage (had my son move his fingers), he stated that the bandaging the school receptionist had done was pretty good so he should keep them on & come back for a follow-up 3 days later. Me: "Ahhhh...shouldn't you look at how deep the cuts are? The receptionist said they were deep & jagged. What about infection since she only rinsed it with water- no antiseptic." Dr: "It should be ok." Me: "What about stitches to prevent possible scarring?" Dr. "They can make it worse. Come back on Friday" 2 hours later at the Lion's Gate Hospital ER, he gets 5 stitches & a tetanus shot. The staff were wonderful, btw. Now maybe Dr. Jiwani was right about how the fingers should start healing if left alone, but how on earth can he assess them without physically looking at them?! Doesn't make sense to me.

He told me if I wanted an MRI I should go pay for it as there was 'no reason' for him to order one. He told us to come back if the knee was still painful and swollen. After 3 months, we contacted him again for follow up as there was still pain and swelling. At that time, his staff gave me the complete runaround on a follow up appointment, even after I explained the situation and Dr. Cohan's instructions. He was 'too busy' to look at our case and respond. After a week and a half, finally after several more phone calls made to his clinic, they told me that he would not see us, and that we will need to find another doctor at another clinic to do the follow up. No real explanation for that other than 'he is only seeing his regular patients'. However, the clinic website currently STILL shows it is 'a walk in clinic that accepts new patients'. Fast forward several months, we finally are able to get an MRI and my son has an ACL tear and things look to be in pretty poor shape. This doctor is dismissive, rude, and not interested in the wellness of patients. His negligence delayed my son's treatment and recovery by 7 months. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone! If you are not interested in helping patients, perhaps you are in the wrong business! I would not trust this doctor and would recommend going elsewhere.

So I called back to the receptionist and she told me the Doctor had already called me, but I never received any missed calls. So then the receptionist said they got my number wrong accidentally, and she had made a mistake in the sequence with only a digit off the correct number. So then she made the "correction" and said I should expect a call really soon from the doctor. And I still never got a call back. This is the type of experience you will get when you go to a Persian run health clinic. I do not recommend, I've seen worse clinics in Mumbai that's better than this place. The lobby area is nice, quiet and serene. There are snacks and filtered water for you. Things aren't perfect though.... In my experience some of the health care providers can have a poor bedside manner, or might not be the right fit or they might not be as smart as you are...but then again they do have the experience. And, imo it's not as "proactive" a health care service as they claim. Questions like, why would a physician want to work at Copeman conjurs up thoughts of social/status climbing and the shallow like. But, I think most docs become docs for the $$$ and status anyway. Finding a physician anywhere in North America who is actually interested in medicine is like winning the lottery. They either don't care, or are simply too incompetent to keep up with the requirements of care for their patients. I've been refused service, falsely charged $, disrespected and belittled. All this after hour long wait times to talk to a doctor for 5 minutes. I had booked an appointment to have an IUD inserted but the Pharmacy needed to know which kind, which the prescription didn't specify. The pharmacy and I called repeatedly with no answer and they didn't return calls. When I finally got through to them they said they wouldn't do the procedure because they hadn't sterilised their equipment (This appointment was booked more than a month in advance and there is only a small window to do it each month) After an incredibly stressful day of contacting them back and forth they decided they COULD in fact do it and had me in to the office. For her part Dr. Fatyeva (not my regular GP at the office) was kind and tried to reduce some of my concerns. Unfortunately she also placed it incorrectly. meaning I needed to go through the whole process again. I had to have a scan done to verify placement, which I never heard back about. The next time I heard from this office was to inform me that I owed them $45 for missing an appointment. One that I never booked and was not informed of. They had simply gotten my results and booked an appointment without ever consulting me. When I called to say as much they said I had to be aware of it because they would have told me (they didn't) and I could either come in to pay the bill or send them a cheque. OH and guess what. AGAIN they couldn't do it anyways because they didn't set up their office correctly. I've found a new Dr and within hours of receiving my test results from this ridiculous operation they've already called to talk about MULTIPLE things these idiots missed. They don't care about you and just want your money. STAY AWAY.
