Leather Etc is a clothing, leatherware and adult shop with probably the best prices in town... That being said the quality of items here is bargain mart bargain bin... The DD's discounts of premium goods, kink and fetish if you will. It's got that nostalgic 90s layout with fluorescent dimmer lighting and displays and actual bins with bargain items. Mostly kept up but a little messy in that particular section. I picked up some items and couldn't believe the night and day difference compared to Mr. S down the street. I will say the service was personable and the customers just as friendly, especially being a more intimate space with round racks and wall mounted items. I think this is a good shop to visit when you're wanting to learn and explore as well as education on the world of leather, gear, kink and beyond. I had decided to dress as Freddie Mercury for a party, and the final missing piece of my costume was the studded arm band. Figuring this would be easy enough to find in San Francisco, I went to something like 6 different sex shops, striking out at each. * This review is just for their online ordering, I haven't been into the store itself * I want to give this place more stars for their wide range of products for women and their extremely awesome and tasteful online website, but I'm a bit miffed at how long it took to get a product ordered through the website delivered to me. I don't live in Alaska or on the other side of the world, I actually live in the same city as the store, a mile away, if anything! Why didn't I just go into the store I might be asked? I had planned on it at first. I had an idea in mind for a halloween costume so I went onto their website to see if they had the items I wanted. Not only was i able to locate what I needed but they had a sale on! Since I was right there on the site and I didn't need it right away, I just placed the order online through the website. This was on September 28th. I eventually received an email that the products had shipped on October 7th, a week past when I'd placed the order. I don't know how busy they are with the online orders, but wow. The parcel eventually arrived in my mailbox on October 11th, 4 days to go a few miles. Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy with what I got, the items are amazing quality and I'm so impressed with the price. The site is great, lots of options for everyone! If you need anything from here and are local, I'd suggest going in to the store instead of doing the online ordering, especially if you're in a rush to get something. Came here for the first time during SF Pride. Lots of reasonably priced leather gear, and a not insubstantial selection of eclectic bdsm gear. Left the store with a nice leg-mounted strap-on and a set of tuning forks for ASMR play. Staff was incredibly helpful. They went out of their way to get down any gear or toys I was interested in and were very knowledgeable about kink and BDSM as well. Another thing I like is they had ample gear in plus sizes. So um, fuck this place. I come into this shop pretty regularly, especially recently since I now work right around the corner. Now, the people who work here are *usually* perfectly friendly but they can sometimes be difficult to understand, and I *THOUGHT* that this gentleman told me that he had charged my card, so when the studs arrived I said thank you and walked out the door. I was still on the corner when the man I'd been talking to came running after me saying "Oh no, I didn't charge you yet!" Turns out he had meant that he would charge me for my purchases once the studs arrived. Oops, my mistake, right? I apologized and followed him back into the store to pay for the goods. When I got back in, though, the other guy working there threatened to call the police and told me that he wasn't going to sell anything to me and that I should get out. WOW. I tried to explain that I had made a mistake and thought that his colleague had charged my card already, but he wouldn't hear it. Totally unacceptable - why would I try to steal something from them when I had A) already given them my card and B) work literally right around the corner where they could find me anytime? I feel sorry for the gentleman I was originally dealing with, as if I had been dealing just with him I'm sure everything would have been fine, he was understanding and friendly all along. My best friend and I were actually on our way to Mr. S Leather which is down the street from where the Pride Parade was taking pace. On the way I saw a sign for Leather etc. We decided to stop by on our way just to check them out. You do have to ring a doorbell t be let in which makes the store feel that much more safe and secure. It's a smaller store then Mr. S, but they still have a great selection. Because it's more of a discount leather store they have quite a few sales going on; there is even a Yelp check in offer of $15.00 off any purchase of $40.00 or more. We had two gentlemen helping us out. There was one behind the counter who also rung us up in the end. Every product we looked at he explained what made it significant. When we were looking at the paddles, he let us hold each one and really get a feel for it before purchasing anything. The second gentleman who helped us out must have been the owner. He walked up to us with a big smile as we were talking with the other one. He noticed a leather paddle my friend had on her kilt and recognized it as being one of his. She purchased it from another business that he deals with and just like that a new acquaintance was made. Both of them were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The store is well stocked, clean, and every thing is very neat and in its place. When the product arrived, it was much different than the photo on the website to the point of clearly affecting functionality. Which is to say that what I got could not be used for the purposes the photo led one to believe. I sent two emails over a few days to customer service expressing my concern and requesting to return it for a refund. I did not receive a response to either email. Whips, chains and leather, oh my! Leather chaps may not be for everyone. Even some cowboys eschew them for fears of their best buddy "not being able to quit" them. But if you want them, or anything else leather, vinyl or studded, then this is surely one of the first places to check out. Decent quality - not heavy duty... one of the snaps on one of the kilts popped off first night out. All in all, good prices and decent stuff for costume use.
