Cumberland Academy of Georgia - Cumberland Academy of Georgia "An Exceptional School For Exceptional Students"

I will forever be grateful to Cumberland Academy of Georgia. My son transferred to Cumberland in…read morehis junior year. I was very apprehensive because change can often be a huge challenge for neurodivergent children. But from the moment you walk inside the school, you feel the warm welcome and see the caring way that the children are treated. Every morning, the owner, Mrs. Scarborough, the principal, and several of the teachers are out front welcoming the children as they walk through the door. At the end of the school day, those same people are out front, ensuring that each child is safely getting into their assigned cars. And the teachers are AMAZING! My son received a great education, exceptional support, as well as valuable lessons in life from teachers whom I felt treated him as if he were their own. One of the best things that I loved was the diversity of students. Because the children all have learning exceptionalities, they all "get each other," so I never received those dreaded phone calls from the school about major meltdowns or bullying. The teachers and in-house counselors are extremely proactive in working directly with the children to resolve their differences, so my son felt safe, secure, and right at home from the first week that he got there. It's a great feeling to go to work and not worry about your child at school, so I was very relieved that he had "found his tribe". Their athletic department is outstanding. And Coach Carlock is amazing! He is patient, encouraging, and a tremendous self-esteem builder for any child that wants to play sports. And the coaching staff ensures that ALL of the children get a chance to participate in sports that they never dreamed they could play. My son participated in track, basketball, bowling, and golf. Two of these sports he had never tried before but became confident in his skills after receiving so much encouragement from all of the coaches. As the parent of a neurodivergent child, I am extremely proud to say that Cumberland Academy of Georgia instilled a level of confidence and self-esteem that I had always hoped for my son to have. The proof that they are an exceptional school is that my son was accepted and is currently attending Morehouse College. Morehouse College is considered one of the country's top elite historically black colleges and universities (HBCU). Parents of neurodivergent kids are often happy just seeing our kids make it through high school, so it was such a tremendous accomplishment that my son could attend such a prestigious school. Cumberland gave him the tools and the confidence to succeed there, and I am happy to say that he has successfully completed his first semester! Thank you Cumberland!

Guess they had more clients come in . Not very good business practice to play games with autistic children and parents, when things are difficult enough

I actually live about thirty minutes from this location and was surprised to find out that most people were from out of state; even the instructor was flown in from Idaho. Most of the people that had traveled were provided package with a hotel to stay at that would shuttle them to and from class. I'm not 100% exact on arrangements because I just drove there everyday. Everyone is provided a desktop with the required software and labs. Bring a laptop; you can have the instructors screen pulled up remotely and it's good to have a second screen to have your course pulled up as your doing labs. Met a lot of cool people in my field. We exchanged contact info to keep up with each other at the end of the course, it's always a good idea to keep up with your classmates. This is definitely a good environment to learn. I enjoyed our instructor; he was very good about keeping your attention, was very personable, and was incredibly knowledgeable on the subject. He definitely helped make it a pleasant learning environment. Trust me the last thing you want is to listen to a unrelatable instructor speak about technical material for 8 hours a day in a monotone voice. Rest well, it is very important that you get enough sleep. You are going to be going through so much information it can be mentally exhausting, so you need to make sure that you are 100% ready each day. After class, when you get home you need to study the material that you were given. I would say for about 2 hours at least. I loved having the testing center there. It was just so convenient to keep the same routine and get everything done at the same location. I see some negative comments here, but me and all of my classmates are really happy with CED. I have just completed my MCSA and will be going back for my MCSE. Some side notes Plenty of Coffee, Soda, Snacks available There was catering brought in every day for lunch from a variety of places. Good Luck!

I was honest and basically said I didn't think he was very good. They cancelled my remaining classes with that instructor, apparently the instructor said I was argumentative and a bunch of BS that was not true AT ALL. Complete lies. They also sent an e-mail to my boss, who was paying for the training, telling them lies about how I was disrupting the class and etc. The class was all virtual, I had hoped it was all recorded WHICH IT SHOULD BE IF ITS VIRTUAL, that is an easy thing to do, keeps everyone accountable, and allows students to rewatch trainings. However, no, it was not recorded so it was just my word vs the instructor and I could not prove otherwise. In short, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. Use someone else. Not only are they bad teachers but they lied and went out of their way to smear me to my boss.

I requested a physical workbook due to my eyesight and was told to be at the Duluth office to pick it up on Monday by 4:00 (they are not open on weekends) on the day of the class (1/12/26). I left work early and arrived by 4:00 only to find they were closed. I was told the office manager left early and I had to view the workbook electronically. That was just the first red flag. I realized early in the class that the instructor did not seem to like me by his responses to my answers to some of his questions. I was trying to show that I was present and participating, but he was condescending and he belittled/berated me if he disagreed with my responses. By the last day, he questioned in class if the children that I work with even like me (the classes are recorded). This was personally not a positive experience for me. I would not recommend. Finally, the communication appears to be primarily via text messages, and the beginning of the thread seems to be automated (at least over the weekend) since I asked questions that were never answered and the responses were generic. It asked if wanted to participate in another program, but when I asked what it was, I didn't receive an answer. If you text them with issues during the week, an actual person will respond, it just takes a while.
