First and foremost, attending LearningFuze was the best decision I could have ever made for my career path. Coming from a non-technical background, I came into LFZ with limited knowledge on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. However, prior experience in tech is not required to jumpstart your career as a developer. There are pre courses that are provided to make sure you are up to speed in regards to the technologies at the start of the full-immersion course. Throughout the course, you will learn a whole lot and feel that you have the potential to become a professional developer with job-ready skills. The instructors at LFZ were extremely helpful in a way that they guide you to find solutions for yourself. During my time at LFZ, not only did I learn how to build websites and web applications, but I learned how to pay attention to important details in code, how to ask questions, and how to solve problems. Like most people I was in a job I didn't really care to much about, luckily I stumbled into programming and started self-teaching in preparation for attending a bootcamp. I wasn't sure which one I should attend though, some bootcamps have a stack that's all over the place or are brand new, I even saw a bootcamp for part-time, which after attending a full-immersion program I think it's impossible to do part time. After doing my research, attending an info session, and meeting the lead instructor I decided on LearningFuze. This was easily the greatest learning experience I've had. The environment and curriculum really help with getting the basics down and then building on top of that so you'll never feel lost or behind. There are plenty of opportunities to practice what you've learned each day and then build on it. But like anything in life you get out of it what you put into it and this is work that requires you to put in a lot of effort. There were plenty of students in my cohort who regularly stayed till 8pm 9pm and even 10pm, but then again my cohort was Dope AF so there's that. This requires your whole attention and dedication, the great part is there are plenty of instructors there to make sure they can answer any question you have and guide you in the right direction. Andy personally helped me on more occasions than I can count and quickly became one of my go to guys. I advise anyone who attends to ask as many questions as it takes to get the answer or until you understand, Dan the lead instructor and any of the other instructors are is ecstatic to answer any question you have to help you understand and make sure you get it. I'd say I got everything I wanted out of LearningFuze. I tried prepping for the course a few weeks before it started by reading books, doing tutorials, learning on my own essentially. I had so many unanswered questions it was extremely frustrating. Not only is the team there to help you answer questions and get passed those blockers when you get stuck, but ultimately you become so self-sufficient, you're able to solve your problems and answer your own questions. A lot of people say oh the best way to learn is to build a project, but what if you don't know how to build anything or where to start!? That is what this program will help you out with. We've worked on 6 different projects, two hackathons, and I've also spent a lot of time refactoring my code into object oriented, am learning javascript frameworks, like angular, dabbled with a CSS framework called LESS, and now am making a final project that ties in twitter, Zillow, and google maps API into a apartment hunter organizer/mashup. I have no doubt my portfolio will be as fun and awesome as it was to make. The team at LF stays till 8pm daily, and shows up well before 8-9am. I'm more of a night owl so I prefer to stay later. How advanced you want to be, and how much you want to learn is entirely up to you. I was freaking out before the program about getting a job but now it's not even close to a concern. I am a huge worrier, and the confidence that this program has instilled in me and my outlook for the future has been well worth the ride. I'm so confident in my own abilities and what I've got out of the program, I have no doubt that getting a job will be an issue. I feel like I can literally go learn, build, or do whatever I want with the knowledge I have attained over the last 3 months. He has a real passion for coding and with over 30 years in the industry, he has the knowledge to back it up. Sure, there are a lot of people out there with many years of experience, but what makes Dan special? I'll tell you. Dan can TEACH coding. He has the skill, passion, personality and patience to teach coding. Upon your very first hours of dealing with Dan, you will know you stepped into the right learning environment. I recently graduated from the Full Immersion program, and I would 100% recommend LearningFuze to any prospective students. Over a year ago, I started considering my career pivot from digital marketing into web development, and LearningFuze was one of the schools that stood out to me while researching online. I read a bunch of reviews, started to teach myself with free tutorials, and finally attended an info session in January. I got to see for myself how honest, genuine, and dedicated the LFZ staff are towards visitors, students, and alumni alike! I felt no pressure to choose them, but they are wholly there for you in your decision making process and beyond. I joined the two prep classes to get a feel for their teaching style and to gauge my own readiness for the full immersion program, and I dove in shortly after that! The following 12 weeks brought a tidal wave of new material, constant challenge, and personal growth. Going into the program, I knew I wanted an efficient/fast-paced learning environment, mentorship, and like-minded peers, and that's what I got from day 1. Every week ramps up in intensity, building on the knowledge and practice from the previous week. In lectures, we were encouraged to engage with the instructor and discover our blind spots as quickly as possible. In solo projects, we applied that week's core concepts while given opportunities to stretch our toolset a bit more each time. We also had two exhilarating 48-hour hackathons for practicing real-world skills around Git/GitHub workflows, working on a team, and planning/tracking project tasks. And in the final 3 weeks of the program, we were split into teams to build full stack applications--with one instructor assigned to each one as project manager. The job hunt is also emphasized throughout the program with lectures on networking, proper use of LinkedIn, and resume prep, as well as practice whiteboards and mock interviews. Every step of the way, you are surrounded by classmates to struggle (and celebrate!) with and can laugh together about the growing pains we all experience as beginners. All that being said, it's really true that you get what you put in. I can see why people say that a strong foundation is critical, because it is on that foundation that we will continue to hone our skills and pick up new technologies more quickly. Review core concepts regularly, don't neglect the practice problems, and ask questions often! Programming really takes persistence and a willingness to be frustrated over and over again, but those happy moments when you finally understand a concept or successfully debug your code are so worth it! If you are still on the fence, I'd recommend visiting the campus for an info session and voicing any concerns with the staff and current students/alumni. I went for an orientation and felt the environment here not supportive. People seemed on edge and the guys running the place seemed like they had a kind of hazing mentality. They were overally sensitive and rude. Eye rolling, not wanting to take simple requests, and dictating how you behave. For example when they feel you are not the right kind of women they mimic you and talk to themselves. I felt very discriminated against although they have many women there. Yes, they make money off of both genders. Anyway, people are sensitive here and you have to adapt to the culture. Someone smokes pot outside so try not to avoid him, or he will get offended. Smile and look excited to see people and have a chipper high pitched voice. When I complained to the person in charge he said they try to "de-sell" people they don't want or feel that are not ready. I was there for an informational session. I would not want to jump through hoops with these arrogant fragile men who feel they have control because they are your teacher or they feel they are elite coders. It was shameful and felt like high school but with awkward guys who try to force you to be as confident as they are. Also, there is a low-class nerd culture here. Some students are crazy sensitive over nothing. I walked in front of this one student and she got mad for cutting her at glacier slow speeds. Also, after the session, the guy told to me to rudely leave as if I did not understand English. As if he did not say they were having a question and answer session. I was just my polite self but what the heck. How rude they think they can teach people how to get a job when they act like that trying to get your money. Also as I was leaving I heard one guy in charge say that I could not get a job with that attitude and that he would tell everyone not to hire me. read more

Learning Fuze is a fantastic place to begin your web development career. While there are many boot camps that will take people with training and help to improve their skills to a higher level, Learning Fuze is the only one I've seen that will take people with ZERO background in web development and give them the skills necessary to succeed in that specific job market. They teach a LAMP stack with a strong emphasis in javascript. They do an extremely thorough job in developing the logic skills necessary to make the transition from javascript to PHP. The entire class is a project-based curriculum that puts the skills you learn to work and help develop a deeper understanding of the material that you learn. I would be remiss if I did not mention the dedication of the staff. I was in cohort 4 and I showed up everyday at 8:30, about an hour and a half before class started. Bill was there every morning to open the doors early to let us early birds work. Dan, the lead instructor, would come near 9 and work with anybody that needed it. Class ended at 6, and I would usually stay until about 8 to work more. Dan would stay practically every night to help out and his dedication truly helped me out. The course was very difficult, but extremely rewarding and after 3 months I feel well prepared and capable in my new chosen field of work thanks to Learning Fuze. read more

LearningFuze has the right environment and people in place to help you transition into the world of web development. The lead instructor, Dan, really knows his stuff and is one of the smartest individuals that I have been around. He also really cares about his students and is willing to take extra time to clear up anything you have questions about. Aside from Dan, there are also a few other instructors who were cool and always willing to help. After the program I also got a chance to work with Bill and Savrut who provide guidance and set up a plan for the job search. Savrut was in constant communication with me after the program and played a key role in obtaining my first role. That being said, there is a lot to learn in web development. I recommend getting as strong a base of core knowledge before the course so that you get the most out of it. This is my update 2 years after the graduation from LF as a very first cohort. It's been two years and I would consider myself as a successful LF graduated web developer with a decent job and decent coding skill set. You don't just stop at what you learnt from LF. LF is a site where you learn "how to learn," which means you only exponentially expand your coding skill afterwards. I have introduced three good friends of mine to LF. One of them has been working as a web developer for one year now after the graduation. Another two recently got graduated and getting interviewed by potential employers. Here is my side of story: JOBS: 2 years ago, there was a booming of web development Bootcamp in norCal, not so much in soCal. LF was the frontier of webdev BootCamp in soCal. So back then, during many interviews, they all raised the same flags: "we don't know if we can really trust this person graduated from the BootCamp." Within two years, LF did a great job setting a stone and earning a trust with companies around the OC area. Anyways, I got a contract PHP (backend) developer job at small startup company as a first job and did about 6 months with 3 months contract extended, which was a good start for me because I always wanted to see if I fit into a backend development. After that, I got a contract-to-hire job at mid-sized company. I supposedly had to do 3 months of contract as a probationary period and evaluated to be hired as a FT, but thankfully LF prepared me so well so that I was able to get FT full-stack web developer position just after 2 months. Since then I've been working with many big clients and got in charge of many projects. Now I advanced myself up to a next phase and recently got a new job without a "Junior level" title. STATS and NUMBERS: I was able to expand my skill set from 5 languages to 15 languages (at beginner to expert levels) now. I had total 22 interviews over 2 years (this tells you that they are looking for developers out there ALOT! Sometimes you will have to pick and choose). I have completed 5 web game apps, 3 CMS systems, 4 websites, 8 web apps and some other small projects. My current salary has been increased about 200% since the first developer job. ADVICE: So for those of who is worrying about if LF is really going to prepare you to be able to get you hired / work / grow, I would confidently shout out "YES." I was worried if I wouldn't get hired. I was worried even more when I got hired and if I can actually work and contribute. But I was able to use what I learnt from LF. STAFFS: I STILL visit them pretty often. You don't just be out there by yourself alone after the graduation. By all means, they are supportive and welcoming all the time. I had a different instructor taught me but I met most of the staffs there right now and heard great feedbacks from my friends about them. They are there to help you succeed. There are a handful of traits that really stood out to me about LearningFuze that make it such a valuable experience. Learning Fuze will be time-intensive, so make sure to set your expectations appropriately. I was expected to be at LF five days a week from 9am - 5pm, and was encouraged to stay even longer (quite often I found myself staying an additional two hours everyday). This is a good thing. That said, I was very pleased of how much support LF offers for students as they go through the program. The staff is dedicated to checking in on students, both on a technical and emotional level. Despite the intensiveness, burnout is very uncommon as the workload is demanding but not unreasonable. LearningFuze is an incredible organization that I'm thrilled to have been a part of. LearningFuze was a great experience! The instructors here are of first-class quality. Thi (day time full immersion instructor) is an absolute wizard with code and has over 10 years of experience. You'll be amazed at what this guy can do with a computer and a keyboard. Daniel (day time full immersion instructor) has been coding before the days of Google, is extremely knowledgeable on many different languages and platforms, and he'll take the time to sit beside you to pair program your way out of complex problems. Binh (part-time night instructor) has over 7 years of full-stack development experience and is very passionate about teaching. She cares deeply about whether you learn or not. For example, during one evening session my class mates all either got sick or had emergencies, so I was the only one that could make it. Instead of cancelling class, she stayed and tutored me one-on-one through some of complexities of Object-Oriented programming. This is the level of commitment you get from your instructors at LF. They could only do so much though, the rest is up to how hard you work, how many hours you put in, and whether you can summon up the emotional intelligence and maturity to deal with frustrations that naturally come with learning how to code . I can personally attest though, that the harder you work the easier it gets! The commitment doesn't stop with the instructors though, Bill and Fabian (Director of Operations, Director of Technology, respectively) work their butts off to work with employers and connect them with the students. There are speaking events once a week, sometimes more. During those events, they often provide food, snacks, and beer! In fact, Fabian and I have sat down over a couple of beers to discuss the current landscape of higher education and where he believes technology and full-immersion bootcamps like LearningFuze will serve a role. Currently, almost all of the students in my cohort (2nd cohort) have jobs or job offers they're weighing. I myself got hired on to a web development agency only a few weeks after graduation. Not saying that it's a walk in the park though, we're competing with college grads with 4 year CS degrees, but web development is a hot field right now, work hard, put up some quality projects on GitHub, network, and you'll be on your way to a better career and life. read more

I just recently completed the full immersion bootcamp at LearningFuze as part of their 4th cohort. I have nothing but great things to say about this bootcamp. I graduated with a degree in biology and had no experience in coding before making the career change into web development. The instructors are extremely knowledgable and they make sure that all the students understand the material. They are always available for help and willing to come into class before hours and stay after hours. I am so amazed at how much i've learned in the three months that i've been here. Their curriculum is based off of what most employers are seeking in this industry. The amount of material that is covered can be overwhelming but they do a good job of making sure we take enough breaks to relax and have fun. They have a lounge where you can just kick back on a sofa and relax whenever you need to. They have an xbox, mini basketball hoop, badminton, footballs to throw around, and other things to help balance out the workload. They not only help with our coding skills but also our soft skills. We are given mock interviews which include whiteboard interviews. We also have multiple one on one meetings with the instructors so that you can let them know what you're happy or unhappy about the program so far. We have guest speakers almost every week which is super helpful getting to hear from current CEO's and employers about what it's like to work in this industry. Dinner is always served during guest speaker nights which is a plus! I am currently getting my final project wrapped up but I have no doubt that I will be able to find a job. I attended what is known as Cohort 8 at the school. I went into the class with no knowledge of coding at all. The class does a great job of teaching you the basic coding languages of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Upon reaching the end of the course you are encouraged to choose either front end development or back end. They will teach you Angular for front and PHP for back. You can choose to learn both but it's a daunting task that they advise against. The instructors did a good job and the classroom environment was great. You develop a strong sense of family with those in your cohort. Upon graduating they help you with job placement as well. I struggled from the beginning and it was obvious I needed extra help keeping pace with my fellow students. Instead of receiving the extra attention needed to help me, I began to feel like the instructors were backing off and had written me off as a lost cause. As a result, I never officially graduated from the school. Because I didn't graduate, I was told I'd receive no support in finding employment. Once your cohort is over, a strong vibe is given off by the school they don't want you around anymore because they'd prefer to focus on current students instead of past ones. So now I'm out my tuition fee, no job prospects, and no support to get any better at coding. For anyone else in my cohort, I could see why a 5 star rating would be well deserved, but for these reasons the best I can do is 4 stars. read more
