I interned here and it was the best experience I had in college. Cheri is the most lovely lady and I can't wait to work with her again.

Space ATX - Standard rehearsal room

Space ATX

I was in a garage band in college almost 2 decades ago, and we occasionally get together to jam,…read morebut recently we decided we wanted to rent a room in a studio to jam. Looking at all the options in the Austin area, Space ATX was convenient, affordable, and we just liked the overall vibe. The space itself is deceptively big. The exterior is relatively modern and inviting. The entrance and lobby is a funky, trendy, yet retro. The place is immaculate, and everything looks in order. The staff is helpful and professional You can choose from standard rooms, large rooms, rooms for recording audio or video. The rooms have an hourly and daily rate. The rooms provide solid acoustics, and they keep any unwanted external noise out Some tips: It's a much better deal to go with the daily rate, and honestly, it's incredibly affordable. The large room can be reserved for the day for just over $200. And this reservation goes past midnight into the morning if you need. It's BYOB, so, bring a cooler and drinks. The rooms get a little warm, so, I would consider bringing a fan or two We had a blast getting the band back together, and while we were taking a break outside on one of the benches, we watched so many bands and solo artists funnel in and out, and we thought to ourselves... what if these guys or this person is the next big thing. What if we are? It was exciting, and we had an amazing time Cheers!!

East Austin

12th Street Sound in my opinion is the best recording studio in Austin. Top quality gear (the only…read moreSSL 9000 in town) all the premium mics, pres, outboard gear, and great instruments (I'm a keyboard player) Hammond B-3 with Leslie, Wurly electric, grand piano, plus great guitar amps, amps, etc. The building itself was an old Baptist church, and 12th Street hired famed studio designers The Wes Lachot Design Group (www.weslachot.com is worth a look as well) to design the space from the ground up. It really is a very cool space. Kevin Szymanski is the house engineer and has worked with lots of famous bands you know-from Foo Fighters, to Matchbox 20, to John Hiatt, to Queens of the Stone Age to Faith Hill. If you are recording in Austin, you need to check this place out. If you are not recording in Austin, you should re-think those plans and come to Austin to record. It's a cool music town, and 12th Street Sound also just happens to be about one mile from Franklin's BBQ, which Bon Appetit calls the best BBQ joint in the U.S.

The equipment is outstanding, the engineer and owner are amazing, and everything they produce is high-quality. This is a huge step up from many of the old-school recording studios in Austin, and it has everything an artist would need to produce something incredible.

I wish I found this rehearsal space sooner; I would have come every night I was in town to…read morepractice. It was difficult finding a space that offered a full drum kit with cymbals. Other places I checked out either had monthly rates only, or you had to bring your own cymbals. Coming from out of town, that wouldn't work for me. The space was roomy with everything you needed to hook up your laptop or any instrument you play. I was able to get in for an hourly rate which was super affordable. I went in late from 11pm - 2am and what impressed me most is that Patrick acknowledged that I was a woman out late alone and he let me know he was one phone call away if I needed him and ensured the door was locked for my safety. If I ever make it back to Austin, I will definitely stop here to practice!

Either this place has really gone down hill in recent years or these reviews are fake…read more They describe it like "We supply top notch, great sounding rehearsal rooms for the most discerning musicians..." what a joke. It's nice to have a rehearsal space north of Austin. This one however is a pit. the photos online are misleading. the spaces are tiny, filthy and the smell was unbearable. The bigger problem was a lack of sound dampening. a rock band was rehearsing in the space next to us and we could barely hear ourselves think. For the record, I'm not a Prima Donna. I don't expect much from a rehearsal space. However, showing large, clean rooms on the website while delivering cramped, carpet stained stink holes is misleading. clearly the owners have zero pride and believe that musicians don't care. Make the trip down south to Space. the extra 20 miles is nothing. This is not a professional rehearsal space. Perhaps it's fine for garage bands, but pro players will be put off by it. As a band leader it reflects poorly on my professionalism.
