The classrooms are quaint, the teachers are friendly and communicative, and the administration is extremely pleasant to work with! We love Brentwood for their commitment to building community both in and outside of the classrooms. The emphasis on lifeskills (like integrity, honesty, courage, etc) and the Tribes curriculum have spilled over into our daily home life. I catch my kids saying, "Mom, thanks for displaying the lifeskill of friendship by making macaroni for lunch!" Sounds dorky, but it has worked for us! We also love Brentwood's diversity, both economic and racial, and the extra mile that the teachers and staff put it to build bridges across the divide. We're proud to say that our kids will attend through the 2020's (damn, we're gonna be old)....

Our 4 year old will be attending Kindergarten next year, and while some of our neighbors have chosen Gullett, I am truly commited to Brentwood. The diversity there is very important to my husband and I and my now 7th grader really learned a lot about other cultures. Highly recommended. Why drive to another school when it is in our neighbor and walking distance. We love Brentwood!

Being the parents of an only child, my husband and I were unfamiliar with how little idiosyncrasies in his behavior were of some concern on a larger scale. We just thought his younger age was the reason. At the end of the spring semester, both his PK2 teacher and school director, Amber, brought it to our attention with the utmost respect and love. Upon returning for his PK3 year, his new teacher and Amber addressed it again with the same respect and care saying that he may benefit from further evaluation from his pediatrician. Speaking from personal experience, this was THE BIGGEST BLESSING we could have received for our child. We saw his pedi, followed up with more professionals, and he has improved drastically in less than a year and a half. We want what's best for our son, and it is so apparently clear the loving staff at this school sincerely wants what's best for him and every child there. I find the teachers very approachable, Amber is always around for a conversation with little ones and parents and her door remains open all day (unless she's in a very rare personal conference, like the ones we had about our son's social development), and they have been the best at improvising given the Covid19 quarantine. They are sending daily pre-recorded lessons from his teachers for my kiddo (can't get enough of his music class or storytime!), and they gave us the option to withdraw while still holding our place for semesters for which we've already registered. A rumored claim I'd like to clarify from a reliable authority on the issue is that teachers were given the option to stay home during the outbreak while maintaining employee status and their health insurance. Given all the options some workers face at this time, staying home unpaid, while keeping health insurance, is better than being unemployed. It reassures me that the administration's loyalty to the teaching staff is of utmost importance for the social and emotional wellbeing in the young students who rely upon that stability. I recommend this school to everyone with room in their hearts for God's message. The preschool alone lays such a balanced foundation of faith, love, and service to others. They have been a cornerstone in our son's social, emotional, physical, and faith-based development.

My wife was raised Lutheran and was looking for a church in Austin to become part of and to teach our kids about her religion (we are an interfaith family, I am Jewish). We did a tour with Beth Knippa and sent our oldest for a shadow day after submitting an application. My child had an OK experience but said "other kids couldn't follow directions" (we were also told by faculty on pick up that my child followed directions and participated better than current students). We later got an e-mail from Beth asking how it went which I responded to positively and a short follow up later saying Redeemer "was not the proper learning environment for them". After the feedback we'd received so far this was surprising so we e-mailed Beth to ask if she could provide more context on their decision. She adamantly refused to provide any additional information (after my child had spent the entire day there and my wife did a follow up meet and greet with my younger child). Overall, it seems like interfaith families are out for the school - of course they couldn't cite that specifically (even if you're actively looking for a church community and 1/2 raised in the faith). Typically I wouldn't post an online review but both my wife and I were appalled by the lack of transparency in their decision which leads us to believe a lack of openness in the community to families from different backgrounds. We're still considering churches/a school that are the best fit for our kids and in hindsight are relieved that Redeemer made their true colors known early. It's certainly not the welcoming Christian community we'd hoped for.

One of the…read morefirst things that caught our attention when visiting schools was seeing how Paragon graduates--after high school and even college--return to visit their teachers. That speaks volumes about the lasting relationships and sense of community the school creates. We love Paragon's motto: "Work Hard. Play Hard. Be Kind." It perfectly reflects what life--and education--should be about. The school is also wonderful for busy families, offering a wide variety of before- and after-school programs, enrichment classes, sports, and summer camps. Paragon's Valor program ensures that new students immediately feel welcomed and connected. The school year even begins and ends with a pool party! There are countless fun traditions and celebrations, including Elvis Day, Chinese New Year, Día de los Muertos, and even a full week of roller skating. Students are placed into "colleges" and love earning points through school spirit, volunteering, and community service--culminating in friendly competitions to see which college wins at the end of the year. Engaging field trips are an integral part of the curriculum, and the school also offers international trips for families during the summer. We accompanied the sixth graders on a trip to Colonial Virginia, and it was a truly marvelous and enriching experience for the students and for us! Our middle school son is proud to be taking all honors classes, and even with the academic rigor, he is able to play three school sports while also practicing another sport outside of school. With Valor and study hall, students have ample time to complete homework and stay organized. We would also like to give a heartfelt shoutout to the incredible educators and staff: Mrs. Lype and Mrs. Correro for being outstanding math teachers; Coach Josh and Coach Nick for being terrific coaches; Mrs. Behr for being an inspiring World Cultures teacher and for teaching invaluable organizational skills; Mr. Wyatt for being relatable and humorous; Mr. Stubblefield for encouraging students to pursue their passions through English; Mr. Aidan for being a wonderful Valor teacher and Rutgers coach; Mr. Cory for planning impactful field trips and summer camps; Mr. Joey for being such an influential Dean of Students; and Mrs. Hay for being a truly one-of-a-kind Head of School who expands learning through meaningful travel experiences. Our son will undoubtedly become one of the many Paragon graduates who return to visit the teachers, staff, and administrators who have made such a lasting difference in his life.

We have 2 kids attending and like the diversity, high expectations, and school culture. They both love this school and enjoy events like "roller skating week", pool parties, lots of after school sport options and overnight trips. This helps them bond with both students and teachers. Paragon offers high academic standards mixed with life skills. We like the focus on a well-rounded education with academics at least 1 grade level above the standard. In elementary, they are also developing good social skills, learning responsibilities, and planning skills for future academic success. (For example, Paragon gives kids a daily planner to track their homework assignments and get parent signatures for visibility). In middle school, there are lots of team projects, hands-on opportunities, presentations, and field trips. (Projects like running a small business during lunch and breaks.) There are many resources for parents and a great community within and around the school. We recommend this school to friends also.

The school is absolutely incredible, and my wife and I feel so grateful we found it for our 2 year old son. He has been attending twice a week for about ten months, and we are astonished by how much he has learned in this short time. Each day he surprises us with new usage of the Spanish language...from numbers, to the alphabet, to colors, to days of the week, to fun songs which he adores singing. He gets so excited on the days he attends, which really warms our hearts, and on the days he doesn't go, he talks about his teachers and friends there. I would give Olas 100 out of 100 stars if I could! Thanks so much for everything you all do, and we look forward to entrusting Olas with our son's development for years to come!
