This is in part due to the practiced philosophy running deep within the school of girl empowerment and the drive to encourage them to be thoughtful leaders. I can already see the benefits in my daughter through her language, actions and overall confidence. Picking her up each day with a huge smile on her face says it all. Even as a new student she has developed pride and loves telling people she goes to "The Girls School"! Thank you GSA for all you do each day to not only maintain your magic but also pushing towards the future continuing to grow as well.

I attended this school some years ago, and it was, and still is, a joke. Will you get a better…read moreeducation here than in public schools? Maybe in regards to math. But will your child leave here better off and prepared for the life ahead of them? No chance. The school is a sheltered island that practices borderline cult-esque ideals of religion and tries to indoctrinate students with a perspective of 'how the world should be' but completely fails to prepare them for how the world actually is. For all the heavily religious people out there, consider this. Roughly half of the students I know who attended Hyde Park no longer believe in God and directly point to this school as one of the primary reasons. I've never been religious but if I was that would be a horrifying statistic to me. And for those who are not religious, this isn't because the school promotes open minded thinking but rather is so far down the evangelical black hole that it ruins religion for most. Oh and if you actually care about the education aspect (which most parents at this school do not and are primarily focused on religion), check where their graduates go to college. The majority of them go to small, relatively obscure colleges because the school is not focused on education, but primarily religion. Students who attend a private school and pay for an elite education should not be struggling to get into Texas A&M if they're just outside of the automatic admit percentile. Yikes. Glad I graduated from a different school.

I've been impressed by how down to earth everyone I have met there has been. Mostly I am impressed by how sweet and intelligent my niece and nephew are and this is the only school either of them have attended. They are both bright and funny and open minded and kind hearted. I can't imagine more lovely kids and as hugely involved as their parents are, I know from experience that the school gets some of the credit too. I'm sorry to read that the kid who commented has had such a shady experience. I would say by his writing that other than the obvious grammatical errors, he has a promising writing style! Get that while attending Regents?

I didn't think my high energy child with separation anxiety was going to fit in with the other children who were doing their work with such peace and grace, and it has been truly amazing to watch her transform and develop a sense of community and belonging at her school. Annie has a passion for children and meeting the needs of the child on multiple levels not just academically. Not only is my daughter learning her letters, sounds and numbers; more importantly she is learning, patience, concentration, care for her community and environment, independence and more! We are very happy with our choice for our child and our next daughter will be starting this year as well!

Her last week was full of tears about leaving her beloved school to move on to elementary. We feel she received a incredibly strong academic foundation from MSE, while also learning a love of nature, a sense of responsibility and mindfulness for others, and a feeling of joy in learning. The classroom is bright and peaceful, and the Montessori materials were engaging and challenging. The teachers at MSE are highly experienced Montessorians who care deeply about the children at the school. The teachers also hold parent education meetings, parent conferences, and an annual open house where the children show the parents the classroom materials. Parent observations during the school day are welcome; we did many over the years. The teachers were always open to our questions and requests to discuss issues relating to our child. We also enjoyed the many opportunities to interact with other parents at the school picnics, weekly park playdates, and monthly Mom's Night Out. We felt very lucky to be a part of the MSE community.

Without fail, I found each teacher and advisor to be fully committed to my daughter's education, and meticulous in their assessment of strenghs and weaknesses. More importantly, these teacher had the time to dovetail the curriculum to the needs so carefully determined. I have no doubt that my daughter's success relied upon this very unique approach to education. This small, nurturing environment has afforded my daughter a very enriching high school experience. She blossomed at Huntington Surrey. She leaves well prepared for college, and with happy memories of her high school years. This is culture at Brentwood, to work hard and push past personal limitations. They are being prepared for college and life but still are allowed to be kids and have fun. I have my kids here for 3 reasons: 1) the academic expectations are substantially higher than most public schools and many private schools so being taught at levels well beyond the standard will set them up for success in whatever they choose to do, 2) they can participate in any extra-curricular activities they want to be in, 3) it is a Christian school, meaning the moral and ethical standards they are held to are high. The community is great as well which makes it even better for parents and students. Is it perfect? No, but if you want the best for your kids, academically, spiritually and help them grow to be strong minded adults who add to society this is a place for them. Brentwood students compete and win at high levels in state competitions for academics, arts, sports, etc. Tuition is less than many other private schools yet they are still at or near the top in academic ratings and categories. It has been a great investment in our kids.
