After missing the first appointment, they rescheduled and sent a young representative -- driven by his mother -- to my home. He showed me glowing reviews and described their services, but I made it clear I was only researching options and had no intention of signing anything that day. I had just completed a major project resurfacing the parking lot of a four-unit apartment complex and wasn't ready to commit to another expense. The rep measured my gutters in minutes and claimed the job could be completed in one day. Then came the pricing games: a "buy today" price of $5,000 versus a "buy tomorrow" price of $10,000 -- double the cost. Not only did this company butcher my home with their awful gutter install years ago, but the gutters have failed, and water collects and spills over, and now the fascia board they cut into has rotted and needs replacing. When I contacted them, they sent an inexperienced person out, charged me $95 dollars, acknowledged the gutter is failing, and told me that replacing the fascia is something they can't do. When I had a friend take a look, they agreed "This is just awful work." I'll be cutting and pasting this to all to their NorCal locations, too. Do not provide your phone number to the friendly sales person at a big box store for a free, we can come out when it's convenient for you, even weekends, no obligation estimate. That is unless you want to be harassed daily for months at a time. 5 months later the daily harassment continues. Here is how it unfolded. The representative at the store initially took my info, name address and phone number. Then I had to call someone with my phone to request that I'm looking to get a quote. It was at that time I should have stopped this whole thing. However, I didn't, I went along for this unfortunately. The rep at the store suggested I put the call on speakerphone. The rep on the phone asked me to confirm my info and we picked out a day for the rep to come out and provide a quote. The representative, not the person from the store came out one morning who I met at my front door. I wasn't feeling well that morning and even the representative asked if it was a rough night. Whatever. He said it would take him about 20 minutes to take measurements and then he'll come back and we can go over it. After about 20 minutes he went to his car to grab what I assumed was his presentation and he headed to the front door. In that 20 minutes though I wasn't feeling any better at all and was not in any shape to sit down and listen to a presentation. I met him at the door and said that I wasn't feeling good and can't do this now. He looked at me like I had 3 heads and I closed the door. I went to go lay down as I was sick and here start the text messages. That him not doing the presentation hurts his sales numbers and asked if he could come back later in the day. He mentioned that I'm in sales and I know how rough it is, which I thought was strange because I didn't mention what field of work I'm in. He then texted me an estimate, then he reduced that number and asked if we have a deal. I did not respond to that message or any of the calls because I'm not interested. Practically every day since I've received a phone call from a different number, all linked to Leaf Filter. No voicemails, just calls. I don't care how good or bad your product might be , I do not recommend Leaf Filter. Shortly after, pieces of the ice guard that is under my shingles started falling off the house or sliding down onto the gutters. The roof was only a few years old. I had the roof company come out to look. It turns out Leaf Filter installer cut into the ice guard about 6 inches up into it. When Leaf Filter finally sent someone out, they said they had the right to cut or do anything to get the leaf filter to fit. I called the Portland Maine office and always just got a recording. I called the main office in Ohio and finally someone came out again. He said "Sorry you have had to go through this". I never heard from them again until some other person texted and said they had pictures of the original gutters before and after and it looked fine. If you go onto BBB, you will see numerous complaints as well as other sites and social media. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. I am in the process of litigation. I am now harassed 4 or more times per day seven days a week with phone calls to set up an in home sales call. All I wanted was a ball park estimate of cost which I found on the internet and which is far more than I am willing to spend. I called LeafFilter because our gutters, downspouts and pipes to the road were getting clogged with leaves and debris. LF is also local and the founder is a UA graduate. The salesman, Matt, came quickly on February 15, 2020. He promised the moon and quoted a high price. I pointed out the senior discount and published discount. I finally got him down to $4,999 for 175 feet of gutters. The LF team started work on February 18 and ended the next day. Three separate installers performed the work. These guys looked like they could barely handle the job, and I heard one muttering and swearing about his task. I believe they installed hidden supports, but I never saw them use sealants to repair end caps or downspout elbows. This was not an overly careful repair of existing gutter issues - just capping and screwing in the screens on top of the gutters. I monitored the screens after they were installed. I have tall maple trees in back. The first maple droppings were the reddish buds that stuck to the top of the screens in bunches. Then there were those stringy maple droppings and, finally, the whirly gigs. All of this detritus stuck to the top of the screens. I did not have an overflow until a long downpour in May. It occurred from a valley in a peak on the front of the house (this is a typical Prestige home), and debris had clogged the screens in a gutter corner under the valley. I called my former gutter cleaner, and he swept the filters and roof for $300. I note that my Lifetime LF Warranty promises that my LF system will not allow "the interior of [my] gutter to clog with debris causing [my] gutter to fill with water and overflow..." That's true! The screen is so fine that nothing is getting into the gutter, but water is still overflowing the stuck debris on the exterior. I still need a gutter cleaner to clean the maple tree debris, but the downspouts are clear and running (if the water can get through to the inner gutter). Accordingly, I am partially satisfied with the system, but would have paid half as much if I had known that is was not a complete solution to overflowing gutters. I attach photos of the gutters from April and May to show that the maple tree droppings did not dislodge and remained stuck to the filters. read more

After about 10 minutes of politely listening, Mr. Jenbert attempted to cut to the chase, only to be cussed out by the salesperson. But then, said salesperson cooled down enough to attempt to offer Mr. Jenbert a discount of nearly 40%, though not in writing. What is up with these folks? Long sales pitch, losing your temper at a prospective customer, and then getting us supposedly greatest deal on the planet by verbally cutting by 40% says that he's not necessarily going by the book. Terrible customer service by this regional operation of this rising visibility of this national product. Sales presentation for this product showed how this product would fit onto my existing gutters. I was told that they would "clean gutter downspouts, seal all joints with 50 year sealant, re-align all gutters as needed." The product was not installed as indicated as shown during the sales presentation. I made the point clear to the installers who tried to convince me it had to be installed that way. I immediately called the sales rep, who said I would hear from their install supervisor. Never got a call back. After a week and a half I called multiple times & got referred to another member of their local team. I had two different appointments that no one showed for & no call to say no one would come. Third attempt & the lead installer did come & indicated they had had issues with the particular installers & did find some issues, but told me the system needed to be installed as done because my gutters were hung low. He advised I would hear from the install supervisor with how the would correct the issues. A week of no call backs, I found that when I called people were in meetings & would call back. This product does come with a limited lifetime warranty, so I called the national customer service number to report my issues. I got a call back from the local team the next day & an appointment was made to have work done. No one showed up during the scheduled window & no call to say no one was coming. Called back to the national customer service to register my complaints. More conversations with the local team & had another appointment scheduled for today. No one has shown up & no call. My worst home improvement experience EVER! I would have rated it a minus if possible.. Anyhow i am typically a easy person to work with and I trust a company or individual to do the job I am paying for them to do. Since i travel weekly, I was not there to oversee the work that was being done with the LeafFilter product and just expected that it would be done correctly. I should know better than that and after spending $6500.00 it is going to even cost me more for the repairs due to the damage they did to my gutters. The installers came out 5 times and still didn't do it right and what i mean by right is where the gutter protectors actually covered the top of the gutters and kept the debris out. The original installer took off the old gutter guard and stuffed it in the gutter with all the leaves that were supposed to be cleaned out first versus cleaning the gutters and throwing away the existing gutter guard along with the leaves. In some areas they just cut out half of the previous gutter guard which was made out of wire and now it is impossible to even clean the gutters out by hand. I cut my hand up just trying to reach down into the gutter to pull out a piece of debris. The next installers bent the gutter straps down into the gutters so that the only thing holding the gutters in place were the nails that were used to hold the gutters against the fascia boards. When the installers first came out, there were only 2 of my 15 sections of gutter that had overflow, after the install 8 sections had overflow. They did not even clean out the downspouts and why would they, they took all the original gutter guards and stuffed them in the gutter to clog up the system even more. They also broke 4 tile and somehow this was never mentioned to me. I wonder what they think, do they think that someone who is 56 years old doesn't climb on a roof or walk up a ladder? The second installation involved them removing the original installed product because it was not even under the tile on the back side at the roof so the LeafFilter product was actually a funnel directing any debris that came down off the roof into the gutter itself. Brilliant!!! I called and they sent out another crew. Upon coming home Again, if found the product was put in incorrectly and there were huge areas that didn't have the LeafFilter even in place so once again Debris could get in the gutter unaffected and plug up the system. I took videos of water roaring over my gutters as well as many pictures of the fiasco. I sent them into the manager and he said it was a mess and said he would get someone out to fix this in his words "un-excuseable" job performance. He said he would make it good and said that he would get someone out the following Monday. Monday came and went. I called and was told someone would be out that following Friday.. And you guessed it, no show Charlie. I finally said i want this stuff removed and my money back. 2 weeks later a guy showed up and respectfully took off the LeafFilter product finding again garbage and debris in my gutter that should have been removed the previous 4 visits but hadn't been. I asked him about fixing the gutter straps that had been bent down in the gutter and he said he couldn't and that he didn't have the proper straps to replace those that had been bent down into the gutter. There were a couple places that he tried to bend the straps back in place but now as you look down my gutter it looks as crooked as a snake from an overhead view. And as i mentioned before an overwhelming majority of the gutter straps are no longer functional and i will have to pay someone to come out and TRY to put new ones in on my dollar. I plan on sharing my videos and pics to all those i can to help them avoid the many issues and grief I have experienced. My advice to you is DO NOT use this product. Until they have proper trained staff and people who actually care about doing a good job you are better off just paying someone to come out annually and clean your gutters. I figured that the cost of the LeafFilter product will cover the cleaning my gutters for 32 years of annual gutter cleaning. I had Leaf Filter screens installed for over 5 years ago and they are a total waste of hard-earned money. If these screens are installed on gutters with an ash fault shingled home, you will experience clogged screens due to gravel rolling off the shingles and dirt. If you have trees over hanging the house along with shingle gravel and dirt the screens will also clutter with twigs, catkins and acorns as does mine requiring contestant maintenance on a latter. Overall a 4 star for honoring their warranty and customer satisfaction. What kept them from a 5 star rating was the 1 star rating for initial installation job. This was because the installer was going to brush me off and drive away till I checked his work by going up a ladder and looking for myself. One of the installers admitted he was there for training and on his 1st job. The so called "experienced" Installer tried to blame the newbie for the improper fitting of filters in that he had grabbed the wrong size filters at the shop, leaving insufficient quantity of proper size to complete the job correctly. In short, "Buyer Beware" check things out before installers drive off with your payment. Id like to start off saying the product looks good, it was the rep who made me not go with the company. The rep that came out was very disrespectful to my wife and myself and wouldn't leave the house after several "no's" to their high asking price. The 15 minute stop he said turned into an hour of me asking him if we can sit on it and give him a call later.. just so he would get out. After the measurements he insisted to come inside which I thought was a little weird, but I thought it was fair because it was drizzling earlier in the day. My wife couldn't meet us because she was working on a call. So I told him we can sit at the table and go through the quote and that, he insisted on waiting for my wife. I told him she's on a call it would be like 30-40 minutes. He's like "I have time I have no where to be after this." Eventually he started his pitch. Afterwards, the rep asked for 4k at first which I thought was too high, he then insisted several times I disrupt my wife who's working from home from upstairs (who didn't want the gutters at all) to get her opinion/approval on going forward. I told him we both think the price is too high but we'd take the quote and think on it. He then took off 200-300 at a time asking me if I'd do it and then asking if I'd keep going up to see what my wife wants. Again, she's working I don't know he knew what that meant. The most annoying part (outside a 15 minute quote turning into an hour) was when he asked what would the lowest price I'd go for without my wife approving or knowing haha. After every no thanks, he would say "I'm not coming back" and then he used my baby on the way as a guilt trip saying "you can't go on a ladder with a baby coming". I bet he's trying to make a sale, but there's a certain point where he needs to leave. The company had a better chance at closing if they just did what they said they were going to do.. the measurements and give a quote. The reps final offer was 1.3k and gave us til 6pm that day to think on it, which was just laughable at this point. It's a fair price but why start at 5k and be disrespectful. Hello, I messaged leaf filter in May because my gutters were full of trash and overflowing badly, staining my new gutters and running down the sides of my house.  I was forced to get a ladder and a bucket and go on the roof, in the rain, and try to clean out my LEAF FILTER gutter guards. Days later, I received a message that someone would be out to discuss this matter with me on June 14th. Last week, I received a call that someone would meet me on June 10th and that I would receive a call in advance. June 10th came and went and no one called or came to meet me. Today (June 14th) I arrived home from work to find a note on my door that said "Checked system Everything is clear.  There will be a FEE for the next cleaning."  Leaf Filter advertises no more cleaning and a lifetime warranty.  However, after spending THOUSANDS of dollars, I am still having to clean out my gutters and they are overflowing and streaking my new gutters. Furthermore, Leaf Filter customer service reschedules appointments, misses appointments and then arrives unannounced to leave a note on my door that essentially states that "if" I call again, I will be billed. I have had nothing but trouble trying to get them out to fix things. Two people have been out to tell me that the gutters weren't leveled, sealed or cleaned. When it comes to them showing up to do that work, no one makes an appearance. LeafFilter installed gutter screens on our gutters on June 19, 2019. They work no better than the covers we had previously even though we were promised that leaves would 'roll right off' and the runoff water from the roof would not spill over the gutter due to leaf buildup as it had with the old screens (and eventually ending up in the basement). Since we were have problems we called them, which is no simple or easy undertaking. Usually there was a never-ending hold that most often ended in no one ever answering or if someone did answer they said they were transferring the call to a 'manager.' A couple of times a visit was scheduled, but those appointments always resulted in no one showing up. No one ever called to reschedule. This company seems to be operating an installation routine (scam?) without the customer service component that was discussed and mentioned in the paper work being honored. I would NEVER recommend that anyone use LeafFilter for any work that has the potential to require customer support. The support is not there! Though the product is fine, the customer service is by far the worst we have ever experienced with any company, in any industry, ever. Sense no one on their service team is accountable, it's been five months and our issue has not been resolved - despite our calls and efforts. A quick summary of what we experienced: - The technician installing the system on our gutters broke several strands of string lights in our backyard ($200 worth). - The tech stated it was no big deal, and he would report it to his manager, and we would be reimbursed the next day. - We never received a call, so we called Leaf Filter. They were processing the refund and we could expect it in a few business days. - Never received the refund, never received any updates. We call again and ask for manager. We are told he is busy, but they give us his email. - We email the manager, detailing what happened, and including a screenshot of the receipt for the new lights we purchased. - We never received response nor refund. We call customer service, now for the third time, and detail what happened. We are told by team member, "WOW. That is horrible. I will escalate this to corporate so that it's handled and you get your refund." - You guessed it, never got the refund. Called again today and they're "looking into it." Like buying locally. Called Leaf Filter and got someone to come out very next day. Came on Friday and scheduled installation Sunday. Got a bunch of talk about how this is going to keep the water away from your foundation, the installer will clean up and take all the bits and pieces when they leave, and they are trying to keep all their people working. Installer came, from Iowa as they needed help. Left and we cleaned up! It rained an hour later and water is pouring everywhere. Where the valley in the roofs are the splash guards came off to install the leaf guards. Now every where there is a valley in the roof it looks like a waterfall. Plus the joints in one of the downspouts leaks like a sieve. It was in the contract to replace. (It didn't leak before). Called the company starting Monday and they were always going to call back. I had an appointment for them to come out and give me a quote for cleaning the gutters this morning. The guy came out and started to push his cover guards and started off by telling me that they're quite expensive. I explained to him that I just need a quote for cleaning the gutters and if he wants to leave me a separate quote for gutter guards, I'd be glad to look at it. He kept on insisting that I be there so that he could explain the quote to me. He said I needed to make choices. I asked him to put a quote in from Low to high-end so then I could look at the options. He then said there's only one choice, but I need it to be there so we can explain it to me. I again told him that I was going to leave and I just need him to leave a quote. I returned and there is no quote. I called their 916 phone number and they told me no one leaves quotes, they need you there so they can explain it. I am not recommending this Company and I feel as though they were trying to rip me off, overcharge me, get me to buy something other than getting my gutters cleaned out.
