This was extremely valuable to us this…read moreweekend as we were looking to outfit Mike with head-to-toe gear for his first upcoming season of hockey. They have a huge selection of everything with a wide range of sizes. This was pretty imperative to us when outfitting a guy who wears size 13 shoes. We were able to find everything needed in the right size. There were lots of staff around who were very helpful in finding things and adding their two cents about product selection. The guy doing the skate sharpening wasn't very knowledgable. In fact, the guy that organizes Mike's hockey league specifically recommended against getting his skates sharpened here. If you do, be sure to know what radius of hollow you need. This is basically the radius of the 'circle' used to do the sharpening. If you are a beginner, you'll probably want 5/8" or larger. The guy at Sport Chek had the opposite recommendation... so I'm glad we had researched it on our own ahead of time. Sport Chek is a big box store, and you get what usually comes along with that... lots of selection, hit or miss employee knowledge, and decent prices (particularly if you hit a sale). The distance is about 110 feet and you can golf to your heart's content for 45 cents per minute. The place is light an astro-turf amusement park, the place was full today, and why shouldn't it be, the weather is getting warmer and pretty soon people will be out on the green, so why not practise until those whitey whites melt away. For those of you wanting to get into the sport, NGA provides classes; just check the new spring schedule, but courses from $80 a lesson to $700 for 10. It was just a refreshing change to be in a pseudo like immobile heidenberg. I don't have the patience or the skill to even attempt this; my golfing skills are challenged enough on a mini golf range let alone this colossal monster. Check NGA out to improve the Tiger in you.

Review #28 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012…read more National Gold Academy is definitely a good place to start learning golf. A few months ago, I enrolled in their Adult weeknight beginner program which is a 5-part class that's an hour each designed for adults who have no experience playing golf or for those who want to improve their basic skills. I wasn't excited about my first class as I am totally uncoordinated and know that I'll probably just humiliate myself but that all changed after my first class. Everyone at the reception area was so friendly and chill that I immediately felt at ease in an unfamiliar environment. Our teacher was Brad and he's amazing. I love how he's good at explaining and pointing out what small changes you can make to improve your swing and his recommendations always make my swing better. When the dome wasn't busy, he also extended our classes just so he could really focus on each student and address our concerns. He also helped us out in picking our clubs and pointed out why certain clubs will work or won't work for us. For a beginner, I appreciated that they have a good variety of clubs that I can borrow for free so I didn't have to spend any extra cash on clubs I'm not so sure are any good. They have your regular driving range, a putting area, several different types of simulators that can be used for group activities and video recording devices that can help in analyzing how you can further improve your swing.

I had a fitting with Mr. Miller, and it was a very disappointing experience…read more From the start, he came across as disengaged and uninterested. There was little to no effort to introduce himself or make the session feel welcoming. Instead, he quickly moved to criticizing my current equipment, which was previously purchased through Club Champion, in a way that felt dismissive rather than helpful. I came in with a clear goal to improve the gapping between my 3 hybrid and 2 wood. Rather than working toward that, he repeatedly stated that he "hates" when people come in for fittings before the season and that it's a waste of time. Hearing that directly from the person being paid to provide the service is unacceptable. The tone only got worse. I was told that if I wanted better results, I should "go get lessons." When I explained that I already do, the response was to "get a better teacher." That level of condescension is completely unprofessional, especially toward a paying customer who is a mid-handicap player (around a 10) and came in looking for a proper fitting--not to be talked down to. Overall, the session felt like an inconvenience to him rather than a service being provided. I left without any useful recommendations and with zero confidence in the process. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend working with him.
