This is probably the first five star review i am giving to a restaurant where i kind of didn't hand…read moreover any cash. Why so you ask? ....so having booked a tour taking me from Geneva to the Chamonix valley there was an option to have a the lunch included for an extra 20 euros which made sense being that what we ended up having would have cost around 50 euros. I wish i wrote these reviews sooner so i could explain the starter and desert but all i can say is that they were great. The mains is the dish i do remember, there were two choices and i went for the grilled salmon and it had to be possibly the best grilled salmon i have ever had in my life. Like so delicious i even took a bite out of my friends when she was not looking. The service was superb with it not being so busy we had an attentive waiter at all times. Location is at the foot of the mountains, and right in Chamonix town but maybe a bit out of the way now i am back in England :(

Besides that, the place is also child friendly! Food served very fast and prepared with fresh ingredients, which could be told by tasting my daughters hamburger. No frost burger but the real stuff!!! We returned 3 times in the afternoon, chilling on their comfortable terrace. Be aware; the part where the sun beds / lounge chairs are located, is self service zone :s However if you are lucky you'll have the same waiter as us, who was working hard and willing to fulfill our thirsty needs ;) Also a great DJ was playing super cool beats through speakers placed late afternoon-ish ;) So if you are at Avoriaz, definitely go to this stylish place!!!

We stumbled across Fondü-Hüsli and saw the charming outdoor seating area. There was a fun Christmas…read moretree in the middle and a lot of seating, with fur and blankets. The menu for outside is pretty simple, with four different fondue options (classic, champagne, paprika, and herb flavored) as well as a few salad and drink options. Once we were seated, we were greeted by a friendly waiter named Adam. While the menu was all in German, Adam very patiently explained all of the different dishes on the menu to us. We decided on ordering the champagne fondue and herb fondue, which both serve two people. The food came pretty quickly and was served with bread and potatoes. We ordered the two fondue pots for four people, but in hindsight, it was more than enough. Both fondues were very good; however, I prefer the champagne option as it was slightly less salty. I would still recommend both these options and thought the fondue was excellent. The texture and consistency was very smooth and did not feel too heavy. Overall, I had a great experience here. The one note that I will make about the place is that it was a little on the pricier side, but that is to be expected. I would definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant of you are in Thun for the day.

High level of Fondue, great location and atmosphere, excellent service. Highly recommended…read more (Fondue only restaurant).

After seeing glowing reviews on numerous sites, I decided to stop by to try some fondue while I was…read morein town. Although the service was fine, the dining experience turned out to be all around pretty lackluster. The restaurant is on the smaller side and felt a bit claustrophobic with the low-rounded ceiling and few windows. The lighting was also really bright, in contrast to other restaurants which use dim/warm lighting for dinner service. I was seated at the corner of a long table and felt a bit pressed against the wall, as the bench on which I sat was fairly thin and there was only about a foot of space between the table and the wall (to my back). I don't know about the other menu items, but the price point was a bit high for fondue. Standard fondue is 24 CHF and fondue with morel mushrooms (morrilles) is a few CHF more. Curious, I decided to try the fondue with morels and paired it with a glass of white wine. The wine was good and the fondue tasted fine, but turns out there were barely any discernible morel crumbs in the fondue, far from being worth the upcharge. On top of that, the portion was very small and the bread was not fresh. I felt like I was caught in a tourist trap. I've dined at some other places in Lausanne that felt more comfortable and had better fondue. I'd probably stick with those next time I'm in town.

This is the kind of restaurant my dad would go to in Switzerland. Old school traditional food…read more The restaurant itself was very cool. Kind of like you are stepping back in time. Great ambiance. Menu limited. We didn't try the fondue because you had to order it for two people, it looked like a lot of cheese and smelled really strong and was expensive (50 bucks for a pot of cheese and some bread), but I guess that is just Switzerland in general, expensive. Service was pretty good, waitress spoke no English. Salad was decent and the cabbage that came with the very chewy meat was good. The meat itself, well, it wasn't so great. Bad cut I'm guessing, I mean the flavor was good but it was so chewy I wound up spitting most of it out. And I really chewed a long time! Glad I went to at least get the experience of old school Switzerland, but would not go back. Ok maybe for a beer and a side of the cabbage! Beer was good!
