Through the beauty of Yelp, found this spot & what a fantastic find! Most important note that the…read morelocation is actually Moléson and not Gruyères like the address noted. I have attempted to update this Yelp address but worst case, go to google to see the correct address.....in Moléson Farm animals & rollercoaster landmarks helped to ensure we were in the right spot We parked at the bottom of the gravel road in an empty lot across the street - the road leading to the fromagerie is pedestrian only, so this will be your closest parking. Small incline leads you to deliciousness. There is a small case of cheeses and meats to the left and the restaurant is to the right. Very traditional setup with wooden tables and benches. We loved it from the first minute! We ordered the macaroni with cheese (it was penne but outstandingly scrumptious). The cheeses and caramelized onions were the perfect blend Also enjoyed the croûte with an egg.......this is much like a croque without the meat......it was heaven! As we ere lucky enough to find this lace at the beginning of our stay in the Gruyère district, you better believe we'll be coming back for that fondue!

There are a lot of farm animals at the restaurant for the kids to play with and there is even a roller coaster adjacent to the restaurant that they can ride on. The scenery was just particularly beautiful and it was a beautiful day celebrating with friends. We had cheese fondue bears and lots of fun!

Great find after walking out of a place around the block(that we had reservations). Walked inside…read moreand the place was humming. Full of locals with one table remaining that didn't have a reserved sign! Luck, pure luck. We were the only English speaking people in the place...the rest locals which in our estimation is a great sign. The inside is charming and full of warmth. We ordered a Plat du Jour which consisted of a small green salad, pan fried veal cutlets and fries & a grilled pork chop served with Rosti and a side salad. The salads and bread appeared. While the salads were simple they were beautiful. A delicious vinaigrette that made one want to just keep eating lettuce! I saved a bit of mine so that I could dip my veal in if need be. Didn't need it but it was good on it. The veal was cooked to perfection. The fries were addictive. We both tried but both had to leaves some fries. Portions were very nice size. Le Mazot is not a large restaurant. It probably seats about 30 inside and has an outdoor area that can accommodate about the same. On our visit both areas were full. One lady, possibly the owner, worked the whole area. She was great. Highly recommend making a reservation for lunch or dinner. It is fantastic.

Cheval - or horse meat - is a specialty of the house, so having never tried it, my colleagues and I opted to share an entree of cheval tartare as an appetizer. It came generously proportioned, a mound of finely chopped meat which was very tender and smooth. But it was hard to determine the true taste of the meat as it was heavily spiced and seasoned. It wasn't bad but it wasn't really memorable either. I'll probably stick with a beef tartare moving forward. On the other hand, their cheese fondue was memorable! A big pot of molten and winy cheese, long-handled forks, plenty of good crusty bread, and a couple of bottles of the local red made this a fully satisfying and convivial treat on a frosty December evening in Switzerland. The place filled quickly with locals and became a very cheery and festive night. Great fun!
