Alley Cat is a great antique mall along the main drag of Anacortes. It's very well organized and…read morethere is a lot to choose from - in fact, several of the vendor spaces are devoted to specific themes, like cowboy/western, nautical/mermaid, wine, tiki/Hawaiian, vintage cooking, etc. If I was going to do some kind of theme room I would definitely start here. They also have a great outdoor courtyard area full of all sorts of kitschy/rusting finery - everything from old bicycles to mattress springs to car bumpers just waiting to be repurposed creatively. One thing I like about this antique mall is that it's not just an antique mall - several stalls feature new (yet vintage-like) items and signage. The prices are typical for an antique mall (a litlte high, but hey where are you going to find this stuff anywhere else?) - but not outrageously so. The passageways are a little narrow, so keep your bags (and elbows) tucked in. This is definitely not a place I would dare to bring a small child. Best to plan your visit for an adults-only outing!

It's a small place, but sure fully-packed with offerings -- all sorts of 'stuff & such' -- from used clothing of all kinds (mens, womens, and children), to odds & ends of houseware, and such. The staff (owners) were great -- so friendly, informative, and caring about what they do, and the community services they provide. Daughter found a mug that she just had to have. Otherwise, we just browsed and enjoyed the sights, and our chats with the owners -- two fun visits worth.

There is an older cat in the shop, and while I absolutely love cats, it was very clear that it is urinating inside. The odor of cat urine was extremely strong and hard to ignore. It made it difficult to browse comfortably. Pricing throughout the store also felt high. I did find a few interesting items, but overall many things seemed marked well above what they're worth. The costume jewelry section was especially frustrating. I appreciated that the clerk unlocked the case and allowed me to look, but having someone stand closely beside me the entire time felt awkward; considering the position and place where we were. If the items require that level of supervision, it might make more sense to keep them in the front jewelry counter area. Which they were not using for jewelry. The cabinets being secured with visible chains throughout the store was also off-putting and added to an uncomfortable browsing experience. What truly disappointed me was the pricing and representation of the jewelry. There was a costume ring priced at $80 that appeared to be worth closer to $20. Another was marked $60 and also clearly costume. A "sterling silver" ring was priced at $115, yet there was no visible 925, STER, or STERLING stamp, no paperwork, and the citrine stone did not appear genuine. Without proper identification or documentation, those prices felt unreasonable. Between the odor and the questionable pricing, I left feeling uneasy about the value of other items in the store as well. I'm sharing this in hopes that improvements can be made, because antique shopping should feel enjoyable and trustworthy.

They…read morehave a wide range of sizes and styles, and their prices are low enough that they rotate through their inventory frequently. They also have a nice selection of shoes, an impressive formal wear section, and recently started carrying men's clothing. During my visit today, I noticed that they've really upped their jewelry game too! Bonus points for the friendly and helpful staff and inspiring displays.

It's some good quality stuff that they carry, and I can see some trendy outfits that can be made from clothes on the racks. While waiting to checkout, I also read that the people who work here are mainly volunteers and the proceeds go to a local women's shelter. They also give out vouchers for women in need and vouchers for Back to Work. What a great mission with great clothes!
