For us, it was 'refreshing' to see a new replacement to the store we had known to occupy this particular location during past several trips, so we were both anxious and curious to stop in and check it out. The store was clean and tidy, the offerings very neatly set up and arranged. Once in, and walking about the shop, it soon became apparent, that what was being sold were quality, gifts and souvenirs. Some of the clothing offerings (name jackets, sweaters, and such), sure caught my attention. The service provided at the time was friendly and very helpful. Yeah! .. a fine addition to Harrison, and to this small, centrally-located Plaza of shops. Hopefully, we'll get back to Harrison before winter sets in, and be able to check out those jackets, and other offerings once again, when the outside temperature is more tempting to the cause!

I was most fortunate during our Harrison trip and stay last week to have considerable time to talk with both, catch up on some of their happenings, share memories, browse, and shop in their wonderrful place. I could not leave without purchasing some small gifts to remember our trip. And caught a Buddha for Mom (and lovely Nutcracker card to tuck away for Christmas), and a small, flower vase for daughter. My thanks to the hosts for sharing their times with me.

Daughter and I stopped in for a look around on one of our walkabouts, and were very pleasantly pleased with what we found and observed. The shop, though looking small from the outside, has two levels of displays inside, and is well-stocked with a fine range of various collectibles, antiques, and such. I liked and appreciated the ambiance -- it was quiet (background music, at low level), with lighting appropriate to the kind of establishment and offerings -- and our cordial and informative host. We enjoyed browsing the several areas of the shop, and checking out the various displays. And amongst the looking around, asking our host a few questions about the shop, and some of the items we found of most interest. It was good to see this fine shop back in business, and wish them well in their endeavours.

We came prepared and brought a small sample piece of the fabric that my custom make skirt made out of red satin, so it would ease in finding a matching shirt. When he asked us if we were looking for anything in particular he had a very opinionated fashion sense. I stated that it was formal attire and that the looks needed to be complimentary. He offered two shirt selections one that was a very busy pattern of pinks and reds like a water colour art work and another that was bright blue and purple ombré with a flashy pattern. We ended up going with my selection that was black, red and white that was the closest colour shade to my skirt. I was sad to be told that they didn't have any plain black shirts with pockets so that he could choose the option of a hanker chief. So be sure you take into consideration what your colour scene is and what your goal is. All in all the stop was a success and he loves to stop in for shirts for special occasions.

Instead of…read moregetting the suit fitted at that time we decided to wait until closer to the wedding date to ensure the fit of his suit would be just right. Unfortunately, when we returned, the salesman who helped us was not professional or polite. The salesman who helped us on our second visit was the same one who helped us when we initially bought my fiance's suit but, this time, he had a completely different personality. When we arrived, the salesman loudly commented that my fiance had "definitely gained some weight" from our last visit. Not only did he make this comment loud enough for the entire store to hear but he continued to comment on the weight my fiance had apparently gained. On their website, Rex Cox states that "customer service has always been the foundation of our business" and "that the relationships with customers were equally as important as the high-quality menswear we offered". Considering these statements, I would have thought that the salesman would have treated my fiance, who was a customer, with respect and that the salesman would have acted in a professional manner. Making frequent comments about how my fiance had "definitely gained some weight" was not only rude but it was hurtful. Needless to say my fiance and I left Rex Cox and we have no plans to ever return!

The shop is an outlet of the main shop, 'The Happy Prospector', located in Agassiz (just off the road coming into Harrison). I suspect it was the wood carvings resembling Halloween pumpkins, neatly arranged outside, that first caught our attention and beckoned us in. But once inside, we were treated to the sights of all sorts of arts, crafts, and "such" (wood, rock, and mineral offerings, art prints and paintings, and other handcrafts), and so enjoyed the friendly help and assistance of a personable 'host', who really made our visit to the shop so worthwhile. We stopped at the main shop on the way home, but were too early, and it had not opened as yet. Will save it for our next trip to the area. In the meantime, we're happy to have found the shop in Harrison, and sure enjoyed checking it out.
