It turns out she was never asked to audition, instead she was give a minor, brief dance role for the play. Needless to say, she was disappointed, and I felt somewhat deceived having paid nearly $1000 for this two week training. It certainly appeared to us that they signed up way too many kids for number of parts available in this play. So in summary, I don't feel this was a good use of our time and money and I would not recommend this business.

I signed up in April 2025 after being told one enrolled class would allow unlimited drop-ins, with 30-day makeup windows. The teachers, class variety, and student culture are genuinely excellent. The management and policies, however, are another story. Policies grew increasingly restrictive over time -- drop-ins shifted to a text-based reservation system with advance scheduling requirements, an extra $7 fee for makeups, frequent confusion, and eventual pushback. I was repeatedly pressured to enroll in more classes despite being clear about my limitations, and denied access to advanced classes without enrolling in their ballet class, even though I was enrolled in ballet elsewhere. The studio hosts bi-annual showcase performances that some of the classes participate in and the 6-8 weeks prior include rehearsals. Before this month's showcase, I requested makeups for the two prior weeks knowing they'd be rehearsal-focused rather than full instruction. I scheduled 1 makeup and for the 2nd makeup was told other classes I requested were closed -- including a class with only 1-2 students -- and asked to stay after class for a conversation. The pattern made clear this was less about following policy and more about something that was never transparently communicated. Deciding this no longer aligned, I submitted 30 days' notice to unenroll per policy. The owner immediately refunded me and told me not to return -- then in the next message said I was valued and welcome to reenroll anytime. When I received the refund, I noticed my monthly rate had increased without disclosure or receipt. You have to catch it on your credit card statement. Best for students who commit to enrollments, skip makeups, and embrace the showcase model with costume costs -- no flexibility expected. One studio has an uneven, sometimes slippery floor that raises safety concerns.

Your original trial was scheduled for 3/29. While we typically don't offer transfers, we made a one-time accommodation to shift your start date to 4/15, per your request. We reserved your spaces in classes throughout these two weeks, which closed the spots to other interested dancers. It sounds like our program may not be a great fit for what you're looking for in dance. We wish you all the best in your journey and if in the future you're interested in committing to 12 month program, please reach back out!" This place is a scam.

Being from Hawaii, I couldn't wait to sign up my daughter for hula lessons and looked around…read morecarefully before deciding on this halau. Keiki (kids) have to be at least 6 years old to sign up. They take it very seriously here and want to make sure they have the keiki's full attention. Parents are usually allowed to observe towards the end of lessons, so that the keiki can concentrate on learning hula. This really pays off as my daughter gets distracted easily but has really learned a lot in just a short period of time. Kumu and all of the Aunties are very friendly and make you feel like 'ohana (family). What I particularly like is how there are classes for any age group; you will often find mothers, daughters and even grandmas from the same family all performing hula here. There is also a group for men/boys. Kumu Puanani Jung comes from a family of lifelong kumu hula and her mother, who we call "Big Aunty Pua" also teaches sometimes which is a special treat. HHLO is the best hula school in South Orange County and I highly recommend it. I am also considering in joining lessons myself next year.

I put this behind Auana and Luzio, somewhere around Mystere, and before Love. For reference, I didn't particularly like O or Ka. We sat a bit off to the side in section 203, K 1 and 2. Our view was partially obstructed by the structure because quite a bit of the show performed to the center. Photos were allowed, but alas, bad seats. Recommend sitting on the upper portion so you don't miss the clowns careening through the walkways. The clowns were hilarious, and not kitschy at all. I always looked forward to their shenanigans even though all they were doing was stacking boxes. The bit on balancing the boxes on the clown's head before lights out was brilliant. There was a separate scene with a cube of poop that was also a right laugh. My favorite acts were the banquine acro for their dance jig and the bungee straps for the music; I always love watching icarian games, aerial poles, juggling, and teeterboard. There was a 25minute intermission, which my honey said was too long. Not long enough for the people who came back late in our row though. At intermission I made a beeline to the restrooms, which were the portable kind but very clean and smelled so nice. When I came out (speedily) there were long queues for each restroom section. Parking, as always, is great at the Laguna Hills mall. We parked further away to make a quick getaway, so we didn't have to be like the folks who harried off at the applause. Great show. Although we have great appreciation for the arts, I want to start by saying, we have never…read moreexperienced musical theater/performing arts camps or schools before this. We were recommended by someone we know that went through their summer camps and spoke very highly of AAFK. I was definitely nervous in the beginning because we didn't know what to expect and we're also protective as well (as many are too). All of my questions were answered when I texted them and as we got closer to the start date, a detailed and waiver were also sent out outlining all of the information. Signed up for Wicked Part 2 and K-Pop Demon Hunters. I can't express enough on what a positive experience it was. We were in awe what the students were able to do in less than a week! Incredible!!!! The lighting, the sound, the stage, the props, and costumes brought everything life! How exciting it was for students to see the inner workings of theater and all of the magic and hard work behind the scene. To top it off, it took place at an actual theater, which made it official and exciting. Mr. David, his assistants, and the theater staff were all wonderful. Mr. David is charismatic, fun, silly, and knowledgeable, yet can also be serious with the students when needed as well. We loved how he added life lessons and teachings where he could in a way that came across as a casual conversation. It really stuck with my student; we appreciate it. Love how he can switch to a different voice when interacting with the students and adults. He knows how to communicate effectively, yet also encouraging and motivates the students as well. Yes, if you go to the Newport Beach location, there is a tree and rolling hill in the front. As much as it's the staff's responsibility to keep your students safe, it's also your responsibility as parents to talk and explain to your children what you expect of them and decorum when you are not there. The same goes for what parts they get in the show. Before attending, we had a conversation about not getting certain roles we may want and how to process and deal with that. It doesn't take away from the experience if you prepare your students ahead of time. Skills my student learned after two weeks: Following through and not giving up even when things get challenging, believing in yourself, be and do your best no matter what, being a team player--by helping others, taking ownership and responsibility for the role you get, and understand that things can happen on and off stage--dust yourselves off, but the show must go on!!! Most importantly, TO HAVE FUN! Will definitely back!!!! We hope they will offer Hamilton and Wicked Part 1 later on in the summer next year!
