My 9yr old daughter had been asking to join dance for what seems like forever, and I had decided to check out this studio in early 2020. Then COVID hit and we placed all our children's sports on hold. Fast forward to 2021, we couldn't be happier with our choice to join and be a part of the Fringe Studio family. I'm a new dance mom but I did do my research and because my daughter started dancing at an older age - I wanted her to feel comfortable easing into a new sport. Many dance studios were requiring years of experience in ballet before being able to explore other dance styles. Ms. Estee evaluates each student and gives you her honest and professional opinion on your child's abilities. I truly believe she holds each one of her students best interest and gives each student the attention they need to become better! My daughter and our family couldn't be happier! Thank you for all you do, Ms. Estee!

We ultimately selected the studio solely for this seasonal production of "The Nutcracker" However,…read moreour relationship with the studio has come to an end due to various disappointments, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. In short, my dissatisfaction with Laguna Dance Theatre stems from the owner's unprofessional behavior, profit-driven focus, and focus on presenting a facade of prestige over the welfare and growth of dancers. Recently, my daughter had the unfortunate experience of being taught by Ms. Sherry, the owner, who not only lacks teaching skills but also had a negative impact on my daughter's love for dance. Moreover, the studio's limited class schedule, unreasonable makeup policy, and threats to take on more classes than families can accommodate showcase their lack of concern for their students. The instructors' communication skills were not only inadequate, but also noticeably lacking in professionalism. In addition, it was apparent that their overall teaching competency and abilities were lacking, except for that of Ms. Ellen. Overall, my experience was far from satisfactory and I cannot recommend this studio to anyone looking for a high-quality, professional dance studio that prioritizes their students' development and happiness. There are many exceptional and reputable dance studios in Orange County that prioritize their students' well-being, nurture a passion for dance, and strive to improve their technique, ultimately making Laguna Dance Theatre a regrettable choice. Save yourself the trouble and look for a studio that genuinely values its dancers.

The only reason I took one star off is for their admin side of things (which is important, yes, but…read morethe actual dance side is more important in my opinion.) I enrolled my 5 year old daughter at a very highly rated on Yelp studio called Underground Dance Studio (in Laguna Hills) in June 2020 (during the pandemic) and although the admin side was buttoned up there, I felt the actual dance portion was lacking. The owner is very fun and friendly, and the teacher was very sweet, but when they did their tap "performance", even the teacher wasn't on the beat, which was a bit concerning to me since I'm a music teacher. I also switched for geographical reasons. I'm impressed with Miss Ellen, who teaches the beginner tap/ballet combo classes. She used to be a Rockette and on Broadway and is great with little kids, plus she teaches technique well. We did pay quite bit (over $150) for the Spring Recital held at Servite High in Anaheim (I wished it was closer, but it was the only place they could get) but it was beautifully put together, and I would say worth it in the end.
