I went to Le Chicago after seeing it on Yelp and checking their website. They had a quartet that night and I couldn't resist. The drinks were fabulous. The cheese and meat plates were divine. And the music was truly out of this world. Le Piano is truly all about the music. I arrived as soon as they opened and got the seat of my choice. I could not be happier. And I'm glad I got there so early. Seats filled up completely but those who arrived early were treated to an additional experience of a piano solo. I will absolutely come back to Le Piano. And I will recommend it to couples, dates and music lovers. read more

An intimate cozy classy little jazz club in Rogers Park that has excellent jazz every evening that they are open. I came by on a Saturday night after getting off work early and a woman was playing solo jazz piano. Once she finished the musicians on the gig came on and I couldn't believe the level of proficiency they we're playing at. Then I noticed that Ira Sullivan was on stage, and if you do not know jazz, not only is he a Chicago legend, but an international legend as well. Unfortunately he is not here every weekend, as he resides in Florida, but I was thoroughly impressed with everyone on stage. They have well chosen wines by the glass and I hear that the food is outstanding as well. If you like jazz and you are on the Northside or you are an Evanston resident that used to frequent Pete Miller's for the jazz entertainment, make Le Piano your next stop. Absolutely love it! Its almost hard to believe tat such a cool, unique place exist in Rogers Park. Chad the owner is amazing, good service ,great music and the atmosphere, the decorations the big windows with a view that you never seen it makes you feel like you are a part of a movie. We went on a Tuesday night and were entertained by Daryl and Esther, they sang a variety of show tunes and took requests. What a great addition to our neighborhood. A beautiful space with a gracious host and attentive staff. The music has perfect to allow you to enjoy it while carrying on a conversation. Someone mentioned the prices. We sat and listen to music for a few hours. I had 3 Old Fashions, my wife had 3 glasses of wine, we sent the piano player 2 drinks and had 2 dishes from the restaurant next door, it was Monday and Let Piano's kitchen was closed on Monday. Our entire bill was $86, that is for 5 mixed drinks, 3 wines, and 2 dishes from next door. I find that more than reasonable. read more

(Perhaps selectively applied?In small writing at the top of the menu, I'm sure many people are like "what?! when they see the extra charge. The music is the centerpiece. Great jazz standards, with frequent guests sitting un with the trio. But then the setting is spectacular. The old No Exit Cafe has been redone as a cozy classy jazz bistro. The food is great. The bar is well stocked. The staff makes you feel valued and at home. Don't miss this. read more

Sunday brunch was my second visit to Le Piano and sadly, may be my last. The food was good, but nothing special. The service was terrible. Music was nice, but acoustics need some work. My first visit was several weeks ago, late one Saturday night. The music was nice, the owner was gracious and welcoming. My friend and I sat at the bar, where we encountered the surly bartender. We ordered a drink, drank quickly, and left for a more hospitable atmosphere. I don't want to sit at a bar with a surly bartender who seems unhappy to be there and makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing him by asking for a cocktail. This past Sunday, my friend and I stopped for brunch. The restaurant was mostly empty and the hostess pulled a face when I responded with, "No" after she asked whether we had a reservation. We were seated at a two-top where we were greeted by a young woman who didn't seem happy to be at work that morning. One of their menu items is Smoked BLT. I asked her to tell me about that plate and she said, "It's a BLT". Wow, thanks for clarifying. We ordered breakfast and coffees, coffees were delivered to the table quickly. However, we accidentally spilled the ramekin filled with cream and no one was in sight who could help us clean up. We used our napkins to clean our mess and then sat helpless for several minutes before we could get the attention of a server (it was the bartender from my first visit). He took the napkins and ramekin away while a busser came over and cleaned the table and one side of the vinyl album (used as table decor) with one cocktail napkin. He put the album back on the table and cream pooled out from under it. I picked the album up and held it out of the way, waiting for a server to take it away and clean it. We were able to catch the eye our the original server and asked for a wet cloth, a new water glass, napkins, and flatware. Well, the table was cleaned and then we were served breakfast without napkins or flatware on the table. That just happens to be my number one pet peeve. Now I realize that we made a mess but I don't understand why the staff couldn't clean and reset the table without needing instructions. If you take my napkin and flatware, doesn't it make sense to replace them? read more

i went to this restaurant for a memorial for my cousin. To my surprise, the owner, Chad, is a friend I've known for years. I found out that a friend had requested he host the memorial service without knowing my cousin or her family. That alone says a lot about him. And it was wonderful. The restaurant is just so quaint and intimate, and a perfect setting for this event. The food was wonderful, the service was exceptional, and Chad is the best host EVER! Going tomorrow night with my sis and brother and I cannot wait. Make a reservation...it's busy and I couldn't be happier for Chad. read more

This is MY kind of place! An intimate, live music jazz showcase that almost no longer exists in Chicago. Toulouse on The Park is gone. The Gold Sardine Bar is gone. Joann's Piano Bar is gone. I am so glad that I found Le Piano and on a night the inimitable Spider Saloff was singing. I was in heaven. It was my first time out into the public after 3 months of recovering from shoulder replacement surgery and Chad could not have been more welcoming. I came solo and was warmly greeted at the door by Chad who told me that this was the safest place for a single woman to be. It was. The zinfandel was luscious, Jen's goat cheese tartlets were the perfect amount for me along with being delicious. The acoustics, contrary to other reviews, was perfect. And Spider...I silently sang along with every song and toast that she said. Thank you, Chad for making my first public appearance a fabulous evening. I WILL be back. Many hugs. read more

This place has it all! An attentive staff, delicious food, fabulous cocktails and beautiful music set in one of Chicago's most charming venues. Last night, we went for the first time. The owner, Chad, greeted us warmly at the door. He entrusted us to Phoebe, the maitre d' who guided us with our wine selections and made us feel at home. My husband, myself and another couple enjoyed lamb chops, roasted brussel sprouts, wildfire artichokes and a salad. Each dish seemed to have an interesting twist - the pomegranate reduction with the french lamb chops and cranberries with the seared brussel sprouts. The wildfire artichokes are absolutely delicious. Dishes are small. The menu is posted on their website, so there were no surprises as to how much we would be paying for food and drink. Such a disappointment. After reading all reviews and hear from few people we know we decided to go there for a brunch. We've got the table. After about 15 minutes someone finally realize we are sitting by the table ready to place an order. In the meantime bartender come over asking about drinks. We didn't get drinks cart so my wife asked for a hot tea, I ordered coffee. We've been told that there might be not hot water to make tea but they will try (hmmm). I get my coffee in paper cup - they run off regular cups (really?) even though place was half empty. After another 10 minutes my wife finally got her hot tea (served in glass!). Food was ok. Service was so so. One server, one bartender walking through restaurant didn't really seems they know what to do. They looks like they are lost. Music was fine but acoustic is horrible for music place. We're planning to go back in the evening to listen to more jazz but after brunch we decided not to. This is really very nice spot in Rogers Park and hopefully owner will be able to manage it and make it great place. So today one star only. We'll see what future brings. read more

Amazing find! Magical evening from the live jazz to the charming space to the exceptional eats. Chad, the owner and musician, is warm and welcoming as is the entire staff. The place feels nostalgic and warm yet very modern and hip, and it's located just a stone's throw from the Morse Red Line stop so it's easy to get to. Very nice and civilized music bar/bistro. Live jazz piano during the week with combos during the weekend. Just down the street from the Lifeline Theater for an after show nosh. Good cocktail and wine list. A limited small plate menu (think tapas with a French twist) is well done too. Will never know if this place is great or not. We had a reservation for Saturday night. I was driving in from the burbs and I'm not familiar with Rogers Park area. There is absolutely NO parking anywhere near this place. Street parking is impossible and I was unable to find a paid parking garage anywhere within several blocks. I called the restaurant to let them know we'd be late and ask for recommendations on parking...the host's response "Yeah, I'm sure there's no parking available. That's the Rogers Park neighborhood for ya. No, I can't make any recommendations on parking. I walk to work everyday. We'll hold your table for a few more minutes". Was a very frustrating response. Even if you walk to work everyday, educate yourself on possible parking options as you may have patrons like me who are unfamiliar with the area, and are driving in and need help. I circled the block a few more times and gave up. So, we never made it to Le Piano. Not sure we'll try again based on the attitude and tone of the guy running the host stand. What a marvelous, evocative, and stylish new venue in Rogers Park! The musicians were talented, the bites were tasty, and the ambience was perfection. I can't wait to return. Be sure to make a reservation if you can. The decor is fun and the rounded booths offer a cozy setting. Their bar offers one beer and they had a nice cocktail and wine list. Everything we ordered was delicious. The charcuterie included 3 meat + 3 cheese selections and the pate came in a little cup with french bread slices. I felt like the proportions were a bit small and I would rather they charge a couple more dollars and offer slightly larger proportions, or offer less variety, but slightly larger servings. Maybe I was just really hungry. And there are always other items to order on the menu. The lamb and ribeye, both served with fingerling potato halves, were very good and cooked perfectly. Next time we will be more careful about our seating as we were right next to the band and it was a bit too loud for conversation. And I can't wait for the next time - this place is a gem. read more
