I am a bit biased as the owner is a friend of mine, but if you know anything about French PMU bars and how they are typically grungy and disgusting and not fitting places for women, you will be happily surprised that this place is clean, has separate toilet facilites for women and the staff is friendly and poly-lingual. The owner, Arnaud Friboulet, speaks French and English and his wife Mirka speaks French and Polish. Together they make up an incredibly friendly and dynamic duo who aim to please. The regulars are rather friendly for a small rural french bar and don't look down their noses at outsiders. A rare treat for an Anglo-saxon in France! Facilities include: PMU (horse betting, lotto, rapido) Cigarettes (clients only means you have to buy a drink) Clean Toilets Off street parking Edit: A lot of young men tend to loiter in the area and although they are not particularly mean, it does not make you want to hang around. 1 star removed. read more

My mate Ged reckons this place is the best pub in the world. I wouldn't go quite that far (Moran's…read morein the Weir near Galway, Paddy Burke's?) but you can see what he means. A home from home for the expat Brits in les environs. Gilles as good as a landlord as you could imagine (single incurable drawback being Southampton fan - let's put that down to poor genes..). It still stays the best place for drinks in town!
