The egg and avocado toast had watery eggs, maybe that's how people like it in France? Two friends and I had brunch here on a Sunday afternoon in late October 2023. We arrived around 1:15 PM and were a bit apprehensive as not having reservations during the weekend in Paris can often be a recipe for a long wait. However, we got lucky and a table big enough for 3 was just freeing up as we arrived, so we only had to wait long enough for the server to clean it up. Otherwise, most of the indoor & outdoor seating was taken up already. One of my friends and I got the brunch " formule " while my other friend got the breakfast baked egg flatbread (seasonal). The brunch was pretty big and included bread, pastry, choice of egg/protein, half tartine and choice of hot & cold beverage. The seasonal flatbread looked really tasty and filling and great for someone who wants a more savory than sweet breakfast. There is also a good number of vegetarian/vegan options in the brunch formule as well as the menu as a whole. The highlight of what we got for the brunch menu was probably the Belgian hot chocolate, which is served as a bowl of warm milk that you pour the chocolate into. That was really tasty and perfectly cozy for the cold weather. I did find the tartine to be a bit lackluster however, as the bread was not toasted and therefore the whole thing was a bit floppy. The service was also a bit slow; it took us a good 20 minutes to be served the food and our bread/pastry basket was forgotten until we reminded the server near the end of our meal. Overall, a fairly good spot for breakfast/brunch/lunch, but there are a lot of options in the area that might be more special. This location is very convenient if you want to go shopping in the area. read more

Great brunch selection. I had the "British" brunch (eggs, bacon, sausage, and beans) along with some pain au chocolat, a coffee, and some orange juice. Don't get me wrong -- it was an enjoyable meal, but it was too expensive (around 25-30 euro per person, WITHOUT alcohol) for what it was. This is a branch of an organic-focused chain that is very different from its namesake in the UK (which is much more French in style, doesn't do brunch, and is without the vegetarian options). The focus is on brunch, although they also do light lunches and early suppers. Our experience was very mixed. I had a salad special, which had an interesting mix of salad ingredients and included carrot houmous, pearl barley, spiced lentils, dressed quinoa, kale, sautéed butternut squash and - best of all, seaweed, which was beautifully spicy and salty. It felt very healthy and fresh. So good value at €15.60 and a new set of taste combinations for me. Also good were the "soft" 2% abv cider and Biere Saison DuPont. The downside was my partner's quiche and salad - a third of a smallish quiche and a handful of green leaves, for €13.50. The contrast with my salad was stark. So hunger drove my other half to require pudding - a pear and apple crumble - which was all right, but was oddly served without any accompaniment (no cream, ice-cream or crème anglaise). My interesting if slightly stodgy chocolate version of pain perdu was better but not something I'd go for again. So overall it was a slightly disappointing experience. And with this place I start morning(or lunch) usually ... As I have not a normal " job " ... I wake up in different time, and my morning start sometimes at 8, sometimes at 12, sometimes at 16 !!!! So ... It is so comfortable when you have good place in 300 meters from your home ... All so simple BUT really "easy" food for morning or lunch ... For stomach I mean ... There are a lot people ... Luckily for myself I was traveling with my mother, and her being such the foodie I left the food decisions in her hands. She had previously been to Le Pain in New York and loved it. She knew they offered a variety of organic and alternative food so it would be a good place for me to eat (as I am lactose intolerant and can't eat eggs!). I have to say this place is adorable, it's nothing fancy but the chain has a nice ascetic to it. The staff at both the locations we went to (as we went twice...) were incredibly friendly and spoke English quite well. The chain is originally from Belgium and because it's somewhat more health orientated they have a mix of open faced sandwiches, salads, pastries and breakfast foods such as granola and oatmeal. They also have soy milk if you have not been able to find anywhere else in Paris you can have a caffeinated beverage without dairy! The restaurant isn't overly expensive nor is it too cheap, it highly depends on what you are wanting to eat. I got the Detox Salad which had fresh mixed greens (not just plain lettuce like a lot of Parisian restaurants give you), quinoa, carrots, a ground sesame mix and avocado. I got my salad with fresh smoked salmon too and it was great, if not better then many of the salads I have had back at home! And people in Vancouver are health nuts! This is such a great chain my only last thing I have to say about it is won't you please expand to Vancouver Canada! This franchise would do so well there! read more

I had been to the NY Le Pain Quotidien so knew what to expect. Good quality organic food at normal portions (non-American portions). The thing with Le Pain is the long family style tables. If you're ok sitting next to others and/or you like the opportunity to possibly strike up a conversation with someone else (if you know French) this is for you. Good but not great. We stopped in for a quick coffee, were wooed by the mention of a yogurt parfait and *presto* delighted in the BEST YOGURT PARFAIT of our LIVES. The secret is in the topping, which is both a raspberry sauce and a chia seed concoction: UNBELIEVABLE. Having lived in Melbourne, Australia, the fresh combination of deliciousness reminded us of "Friends of Mine" in Melbourne; and the set up and their couple of communal tables and atmosphere reminded me of "Hardware Societe" in Melbourne. For a place we decided to stop in on the way to the Centre Pompidou, this was the best spot we could've chosen. We had a friendly waiter who spoke good English which is always a benefit that we can enjoy as an American in Paris. Even more helpful is the menu- you can get it either in French or English, which helps as well. This place is certainly a foreigner's friend- a menu and waiter that speak English and wifi for those not willing to splurge on the expensive overseas data costs. But that doesn't make it lack for what it has in quality of the food. The waffles are better than any I've had in America, a perfect size for a light breakfast but hearty enough to tide you over, with the great taste you want out of anything French. The hot cocoa, perfect temperature for a chilly morning but cool enough to not burn, was very creamy and all you could want out of a nice breakfast cocoa. I know, I know, this is a chain, but I go here for breakfast every time I'm in Paris at least once or twice per trip. Good coffee, great bread and pastries, and heavenly spreads!! You can also get eggs, some other breakfast fare and fresh squeezed orange juic. And the staff is so very friendly and helpful. One time while eating breakfast the waitress overheard us trying to locate Jim Morrison's grave site on a map, and was kind enough to stop and draw us a path that took us right to it. read more

Some Pain Quotidiens are understaffed and that's why the service is slower sometimes, especially the ones in the US. This one has usually 3-4 waiters, considering its an absolutely tiny restaurant that's quiet overstaffed. However, the service is slow cleaning up the table from it's previous visitor, taking your order, etc. On top of that they often forget some parts of your order, the check is often not correct and the manager sits on her laptop and doesn't do anything about the missbehavior of her waiters. Sorry but I even stopped going here after coming a few times a week, it's just annoying. read more

The menu is totally in French, but they also have one that's all-English. There's also some gluten-free options if you're so inclined. Okay, so this place is good because they sell organics. But! It only get 2 stars from me, because the workers are filthy!! We've eaten here twice and have taken a lot of their pastries and bread to go often, until the last time we ate, and I watched the girl at the front, with reddish brown hair. While she's very nice, she just does not like to wash her hands. She cleared tables, wiped them with a rag, touched money and coins left on a plate, handled money again for another customer, then used those hands to cut my bread, handle my bread, and handle other customers' bread. I was thoroughly grossed out. Then I saw the manager come and just rearranged all the breads with his bare hands like he was rearranging books. Except that, he didn't wear gloves and he didn't wash his hands either before he touched the bread, and after he touched the register, and other things in that front area. I did not see a sink in that front area, so maybe that is why they don't wash their hands, but it's disgusting!! I also saw a lot of employees/friends, people who were not dressed in aprons, go back into the back of the kitchen and chit chat. The place is just not clean. But the bread is fantastic, and the brunch here is lovely. I just wish they were cleaner. read more
