Stayed here for one night after working in the region. This appears to be the biggest and most popular place to stay while working in the Saguenay-Chicoutimi-Jonquiere region. A grand old hotel that looks like it's heyday was in the 80's-90's. The hotel did not look run down but it did look dated in decor. My room was comfortable and healthy in size. It was two Queen beds and had a separate area for sink and mirror and separate toilet area for doing your business. The layout of the room made me feel like I was at my uncles place who lives in a forgone era. He was a slickster back in the day and I'm sure this hotel was just the same. I took a walk and there is a huge water park for the toddlers a big pool and a few hot tubs. Really a large pool complex that you could spend hours at with the kids. The also seemed to have extended hours compared to the usual pool hours which typically closer early at hotels. Lastly the hotel had a happening looking bar with a few lizards hanging around. Also a wonderful restaurant La Seigneurie which I ate at. I'll review that separately but their specialty is beef! Hotel WIFI was a bit slow at peak periods in the evening but that's par for the course. Hotel room also had a fridge which was a nice pleasant surprise. Overall a comfortable stay and I'm sure the best hotel in the region. A great place to stay at with kids but come with tapered expectations. read more

I have stayed here about 12 times over that past 6 years. A nice big hotel that does focus on the traveler. The breakfast is very good and there is a nice bar in the lobby, There is everything you really could want in a hotel here...pool / dance club (in the basement...but nice) and a very nice restaurant for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Well, if you must... I would've given a 3.5 stars, so I'll have to settle for 3. This hotel is centrally located and convenient. Not that Chicoutimi is especially big, but the malls, local arena, university and restaurants are nearby. Also, the downtown area is a short drive away. Hotel boasts a pub/restaurant, pool and gym as well as a spa. They even have a club downstairs (but no guarantees that you will like the music!). They often host weddings, office parties and receptions. Locals come for brunch on special occasions (such as Easter Sunday... Like today!). Service is friendly, but rooms are a little dated. I believe tower A has more recent rooms (but I could be mistaken). Bathrooms are tiny and reminiscent of a supplies closet (must be the wooden door). Bring your own toiletries unless you like Pantene shampoo. Luckily there's a pharmacy nearby (walking distance even!). read more

I stayed here for 4 nights and was the first of 3 hotels i stayed at while in Chicoutimi. It was very nice looking outside, great location and the reception area was nice. The clerk was friendly but said they were booked over the weekend and maybe a room would open up (no luck there) so i was eventually evicted. The rooms were nice, having a refridgerator was awesome. The pool area was excellent, clean with lots of towels. Two spas that were hot but not many jets. At least it had pressure though. Sauna and steam room as well as waterslides and a kids pool. The main pool was a great pool for laps although i realized the "regulars" who pay to use the hotel on a day pass seem to think they own it and are sometimes reluctant to share one of their 2 lanes when thats all that is left. The beds were comfortable and nice pillows. I was told the restaurant downstairs had good wings so i went to watch the hockey game. The bar area is very small and crowded, i was lucky to have a seat. The wings were small and tasteless and the nachos mediocre. At least my beer was cold. The gym as well was just mediocre, i found it cramped and once again a very rude regular day user who decided to crank the tv volume up past my music without even a nod. So They lost a star for their day users and the restaurant. The hotel amentities should be for guests only. If that was changed i could overlook the bar/restaurant and probably give them the 5 stars. It was definitely a toss up between this hotel and the one downtown i stayed at second. read more
