I wished I could given this restaurant zero star rating or half a star rating. First of all, the order took two hours, almost three hours. Then they claimed they had only one cook. The food was was the worst African food I've ever had. Just like their other location. I thought, ok, different spot, so let me give them a second shot. That was an insult to my tastebuds. The OKRA SAUCE should have been renamed undercooked beef tribes with burnt sauce. 1. I ordered okra sauce with fufu. I almost slapped my face when I opened the container and it was only bones, everything was burnt. There was no meat, only bones, and beef tribe and even that was so undercooked that I couldn't bit it, I had throw it to the stray cats in the neighborhood that ate it. The fufu was so small. Very disappointing. 2. It was suppose to be two fufu and okra sauce. They gave me only one tiny fufu and the other one was some yellow heavy patty. Which again, I didn't eat, actually I couldn't eat. That too was given to the stray cats. Then there was a free dish: potato greens with rice. This is my first time in my life, seeing greens cooked in regular oil and not palm oil. That too had only some nasty chicken. When I called to ask about my order... the lady picked up and answered the following: "who is this, what do you want?!" I explained that I ordered this and that and so on, she had me on hold for another 3 minutes, for something I've been waiting for about over 2 hours. Ridiculous! None of their cooking I good, no matter what location it is. And my advise is: don't open for business if you don't have enough cooks. The workers here are soo sweet. I wanted my friend to try African food so my uncle Foday brought us here. I ordered plantain with grilled lamb, attieke and fried fish. My friend really enjoyed the meal, the lamb was delicious. I was disappointed in the plantain it was, embarrassing that was served to customers. It was mushy and you could tell the plantain was going bad. The ginger and hibiscus drinks were deliciously well made. My friend also enjoyed the kala. read more

Ordered an attieke with chicken pan and the food was old. The attieke itself was sour and attracted gnats. Called the restaurant and they offered to give me a fresher pan. Instead of following through with the fresher pan of attieke, they reheated the old pan and gave it back, making the quality of the food 10x worse than before. I already contacted Uber for a refund, but I don't recommend eating here. After getting food from this place a few times to all of a sudden my food was now delivered so unappealing, it was very disappointing! I notified the restaurant and the gentleman was nice, however I was now out of money and a huge waste of time. I asked him could I send him pictures of my food that was delivered and I was text'd back, he agreed that my food was no prepared properly and offered my another place to come get at a later date and a discount on DoorDash. The only thing is I'd have to call when I'm ready and hope that someone knows what I'm talking about... just a huge inconvenience and Big disappointment!! read more

We found this west African place on uber eats and decided to try something different. Ordered and received two huge platters and an extra fish included. He was grilled filled with bones head eyes tender flakey and incredibly fresh tasting. Thats all you need to know people. I will be your guinea pig.I don't know if what kind of fish but I think snapper? The wolof rice was done perfectly, and there were nice spicy sauces with the scotch bonnet pepper. Service was not great but I could not give less than 5 stars after eating. One of the best culinary experiences I've had in the Philly area, which is saying something because there is a lot of good food around here. We got the fish and jollof rice, plantains, peanut butter stew, and atteike. The food (especially once I added the house hot sauce) stirred up something deep in my soul and my tastebuds and had them dancing long after I finished eating, as I re-lived the meal in a euphoric trance. I immediately told my parents that they have to try it next time they come out here, and that isn't for months. I also felt compelled to review. Nothing about this is ordinary, at least for me. I am glad we didn't see the health score violations beforehand because we probably wouldn't have gone (85/100 with 8 violations), and then we would have missed out on this life-changing food. read more

I went inside to order my food. They aren't allowing inside dining which wasn't a problem because I wanted to do takeout. While I was there, I noticed the staff was a bit rude to their customers. I remember thinking damn I hope my order is fine and I don't need any extra napkins because these ladies aren't the nicest. Hospitality aside the food is good. I tried the pepper soup and fufu. Really good food! Their joloff is the best mixed rice out there and blends well with a smoky flavor. Their mild sauce is INSANELY hot so be prepared lol. The highlight was their goat. I appreciate that they offer vegetarian as an option but I think it's just to get business. When I order I usually get a last minute call about my vegetarian item not being available anymore. One time I had to switch last minute, and they still sent chicken buried in my food, I let it slide. The last time I got chicken in my food after I ordered vegetarian from uberEats, I ended up driving back to the restaurant to return it. This location isn't as popular as the main location on Woodland Avenue, but their food is just as good. Less customers here so the wait time for food is slightly longer. The portions of food are enormous!!! I love it. I love their goat platter, and also their cassava leaf. Never any complaints with their food. If you've never had African food before, certain food dishes tend to be very spicy. So make sure you have some water or something else to drink. Great restaurant read more

I called on 4/07/2023 about 20 minutes after the store was open. When the lady picked up the phone I asked her if she was serving peanut butter soup, she mumble a few words then called me stupid and hung up the phone. I showed up to the store and instead of apologizing she denied she called me stupid and continued to be disrespectful. That will be the last time I support that business. Food is good but you cannot be that disrespectful to paying customers when they only asked a simple question. read more

The business is on UberEats. My husband and I placed an order through UberEats, we received a message stating that the food would be delivered within 55 to 60 minutes. We went down to the hotel lobby to wait for the UberEats person. After waiting for 45-50 minutes, we checked the UberEats app only to find that the order was canceled and then was charged. I called the restaurant. The restaurant lady who answered the phone kept telling me to call Uber. I am informed her that Uber does not make the food. There was another person in the background with whom she carried a conversation. It was difficult to understand what she was saying with all the commotion that was going on in her background. She asked under which name the order was requested and then carried on a conversation with somebody else in the background, only to inform me that there was no order placed. I'm at a loss here: UberEats did a poor job or this restaurant. Regardless the lady answering the phone at this restaurant was uninformative and frankly unhelpful and rude. read more

I am going to name that I am writing this review out of extreme frustration. I called the restaurant on my drive home, was told that it would take 20 min. I dropped my kids off at home with my wife and went to pick up the food after 35 min. I've been literally sitting and waiting for over 45 min to get my food. Ordered food around 7pm. Restaurants an hour away from my house. I pay and get confirmation, drive all the way there to be told my order was never received. Mind you I paid on the app and had confirmation. Maybe my skin was a little to light, I've never in my life been treated so rudely! Walked away from and basically told get over it. I've been dying to try this place so I placed an order yesterday. I love okra so I got the okra dish and I wish I didn't eat it so fast. It was cooked perfectly and the meats accompanying it were very tender. My plantains were plentiful and seasoned well. Oh my, the attike with fish...... Lawd have mercy! Perfection! The toppings and sauce for the fish are a bonus ! Without them , the fish was still good but it was nice to have them anyway. They were out of one of the deserts I ordered but they were courteous enough to let me know and I appreciate that. There were generous portions of everything and even the homemade ginger juice was excellent. The next time I want African food I will definitely order from this place again. This place has very inconsistent food quality, sometimes it's good and other times it tastes old and dried out. The customer service absolutely sucks the women are rude and nasty and are very impatient. I had to call back and cancel my order because I felt so unsettled knowing that I was about to give my hard earned money to a place that treated me so poorly.
