I cannot thank Cat K enough for being the first to review this place, otherwise I would never have…read moreknown about it. I have been searching for authentic Greek food around Vaud for awhile now, and so happy to finally have found something! And not just something that is OK, this is the best Gyro I have had outside of Greece. I was even more excited to see that next door, owned by the same people, is a fancier sit down Greek restaurant serving some main Greek dishes. I have quickly bookmarked that to try next. Souvlaki Fan is a simple self service cafe, and they also deliver. You enter and you order your food, sit down and it is brought to you, and then you clean up your own space. They have pork, fish, veggie, chicken, or lamb Souvlaki. Most of the meat options come in traditional, fondue, or spicy style. They also have larger dinner plate options, salads, pasta, or crepes. Definitely something for everyone. I ordered the lamb Souvlaki and was EXTREMELY excited to see it is served the authentic Greek way with the fries inside the pita. Well done. I was also excited to see they have Nescafe Frappe on the menu, and it was perfect. While I was eating I closed my eyes and with the Greek music playing, and the owners speaking in Greek, I could slightly imagine myself back in Greece. The service was very friendly, they even gave a bit of meat to my puppy that was with me. I was even able to practise my rusty Greek with them!!! Tip: They have a fidelity card on the back of their menu's, after your 10th Souvlaki you get the 11th one free.

One of my favorites! In Geneva, this is what passes for inexpensive. The cozy restaurant has…read moreinformal seating in a hospitable orange-walled interior (see the website for the color). It's tucked into a side street very close to Plainpalais (perfect for a stop-in when you're at the Saturday flea market, for example). There are also outdoor tables, depending on your temperature preferences. You order at the counter, and fewer than 5 minutes later, a nice steaming souvlaki is delivered into your hands. They have a few types of wine, raki, Greek beer and soft drinks/juice, if you're eating in. The souvlakis are generous - my favorite is the Spicy Chicken - and the Greek salad is fabulous as well. What I really like are the staff, though. This is a family-owned establishment, I think, and I've met everyone from big brother to little brother to classic Greek mama. My pup actually leads me to the restaurant on evening walks. Try it, and you will be hooked! (I have brought friends and family, and everyone has been quite happy.) One friend has used the takeout service, but I can't comment personally.
