To All To anyone that goes here you need to watch your belongings!! I was having a drink on the patio at 1630hrs with my wife and was robbed of my backpack. I asked the restaurant about there cameras and guess what the only one that didn't work was the one that I needed!!!! Imagine that at least 9 cameras work nut the one that was focused on us doesn't work!! Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Also they were not very concerned like oh well your problem not ours!! I reviewed some of the previous comments. Comments about the service are understood, however, this is Belgium. Don't expect service like you would get in Canada or the US. The servers are not there to pass to you but rather leave you alone so you can enjoy your beer. You do have to summon them if you want something else. Not the end of the world. I only gave a four because I didn't have any food. The beer selection is pretty decent and they change the taps on a regular basis. I went at the end of November most recently and their taps featured Christmas beers. I suspect they are associated with delirium tremens beer as all the servers were wearing sweaters, and there was a lot of delirium paraphernalia. Is this the best bar? No. Is it a fun bar and decent? Yes it is not to be avoided. This is actually my second visit and I went out of my way to go there because I do enjoy it. As for the comments about cash only ; I had no problem paying with a credit card. There are many bars in Brussels and I consider this to be one of the classic ones. read more

We sat down planning to eat dinner, but first we needed a beer. We were brusquely told to shove down and leave the table closest to the bar open - okay. The Pilsner tasted pretty meh, very similar to Molson Canadian. The server wasn't seen much, and when she was she seemed annoyed with her job and the customers in the bar. The food menu seemed somewhat limited, and between that and the cold service we decided to finish up quickly and go elsewhere. Also, you can't split a bill, which I've never heard in Brussels before, so be prepared to pay cash or one of you covers the whole tab. Average all around. I walked in and asked if they had a table for one for lunch. I was pointed to two 2-top options next to each other so I picked one and settled in. Shortly thereafter, a group of three walked in, stared me down, and sat down elsewhere awkwardly. The server/host who seated me then came over, took my order, and told me to move to a window seat as it would be better for them. I totally understand moving me. There was just one of me. They clearly were going to have a bigger check. But the way it was handled kind of irked me. The window had a cold draft coming through. It was miserable. And the folks I moved for didn't even thank me. I assume that's just a cultural difference, but I don't know...I moved for them. A simple head nod or smile or acknowledgment wouldn't have hurt them. As for the actual food, it was just okay. I ordered the lasagna and a fruity beer. The lasagna was okay but mediocre compared to the one I'd order for lunch the next day at another local business. Between the cold atmosphere (figuratively and literally) and the average food, I didn't bother to order a second beer or stay second longer than I had to. Oh, and it's cash only. There are signs EVERYWHERE announcing as such. I usually carry cash in Europe because that's pretty universal I've noticed, but still. Keep it in mind. read more

The ambience is fine, the staff was polite but generally unbothered by providing customer service. The food was absolutely the worst in Brussels. The "croque monsieur" was a pathetic ham and cheese, minus the ham. Beer was okay. Plenty of other places to go for better food and atmosphere. read more

Looking at the photos that I took of this place I noticed that the umbrellas proudly displayed the delirium brand, something that unfortunately you don't see all that much in Australia. Actually, even though I had visited a Delirum Tremmins in Brussels, the brand didn't register until much later. However, that is beside the point because I am actually talking about this beer bar, and like many of the other ones in Brussels, this one is actually pretty awesome. I paid it a visit because I had dumped my washing into a couple of washing machines around the corner and needed to kill some time, so what better thing to do than drink beer in Brussels. Needless to say that this was a pretty awesome cafe with a good range of beers, and the mural on the wall is pretty awesome as well. read more

We sat & waited, we endured the group next door with there political opinions... We waited some more & decided they obviously did not want our business & we set off in search of new horizons. We had turned the corner when a waitress suddenly appeared as if by magic. We decided to give them a chance. Two beers were ordered & surly delivered. Unlike other places the waitress demanded payment there & then. Them complained as I only had 20 Euro notes... At least the beer was not skanky. Thus two stars. read more

Beer 4 Atmosphere 2.5 Le Lombard has been around for a long time and is extremely touristy. It was one of the early adopters when it came to serving a variety of Belgian beers. However times have changed and lists of 50+ bottled beers are pretty common in Brussels these days. Le Lombard's bottle list is better than most (lots of Silly product, plus more unusual offerings like Prearis Quadrocinno and Het Nest Klevere Tien). However, what it does have going for it are 15 beers on tap (Barbar, Delirium, Gouden Carolus, etc.) of which they seem to be perennially out of two or three. Le Lombard bills itself as a brasserie (as opposed to a cafe), so they do serve casual food like mussels and carbonade, and the ambiance (with the exception of the pink elephant chandeliers) is traditional brasserie with small tables and wood-paneled walls. However, unlike other brasseries, you're not necessarily expected to order a meal, and in fact, most people just come in for drinks. They do have a large screen TV and show some of the more important football (soccer) games, but be forewarned, it is cash only. read more

Unlike others reviewers we had no problems with this place, either with getting served or with unfriendly staff. Service was prompt and staff were absolutely fine. Free WiFi doesn't go amiss either. Given how close it is to the Grand Place it didn't seem quite as touristy as other spots nearby and we were delighted to be able to get a seat even on a busy Saturday evening. We sampled a few beers from their extensive list and generally had a good time. It's a nice, warm comfortable environment and I liked the large retro video-games themed mural on the wall. For us it was a good spot to relax and plan the rest of our night. read more

Right closeby the tourist central area, but somehow felt slightly removed from the mayhem of actually being directly by the Grand Place. They have a wide selection beer if that's your thing. I counted atleast 10 on tap plus an offering of close to 50 in bottles. They even offer a variety of the fruit beers that make me so happy when in Belgium. They also offer both indoor and outdoor seating. While several meal options are offered, I personally didn't look beyond the mussels section. I ended up going with an option cooked in white Delirium with celery and onions.....I agree it may not sound the most appetizing, but the light sauce was perfect for me and I already have plans to try to prepare this at home when I return. The service was fairly decent if you were seated, but if you made the mistake of venturing in and going straight to the bar as a few did, be prepared for a few minutes of awkward silence until you gave up, a passing waitress offered you a seat. If you don't want people to order at the bar, just tell them - no need to ignore them. Nonetheless if in this central area again, I'd definitely return. Standard meal options, nice beer selection, convenient to train and reasonably priced (beers were approx 4€ and basic mussels were €21. read more

This place is a tourist trap. The beer selection is very good, you have free WiFi, the service is efficient but not very friendly. The food is bad: the cheese croquettes were really bad. Usually, I would be okay with a place like this. The reason I'm giving one star is that the mussels they served to a group a table or two away from me *must* have been bad. As soon as they were put on the table, a waft of shit permeated the premises. Other people noticed it too. I had lunch here and really enjoyed my meal. Maybe my five star opinion was a bit influenced by the fact that they actually had a cider on draft (Somersby), which was hard to find in Brussels, but the food was great. My group of four ate al fresco on the cobblestone sidewalk and had fairly attentative service. I had the garlic mussels, and the rest of my group had spaghetti carbonara, steak frites, and grilled chicken salad. Everyone loved their meal but the chicken was a little dry and needed some sauce. Also, it wasn't a salad an American would be used to, as it was more so a cutlet of chicken breast with a side of mixed greens and a bowl of frites. My mussels were fantastic and the table bread proved useful to mop up some of the delicious broth at the bottom of the bucket. A+, would return! read more

I don't know about the previous reviews, but this place is incredible! EXTREMELY FRIENDLY service. The chef heard we wanted to order food late at night and came out to answer all of our (many) questions. Twenty minutes of drinking our fantastic beers - our food arrives, piping hot, and every single one of our four meals were something to write home about. Simple meals, but beyond stellar quality. I wish I had a second stomach to have another course. I would also like to note that this place appeals to the snobbiest of beer drinkers, like myself. read more
