On a Saturday night in Montreal, my friends and I were in the general vicinity of Vestiarie and…read morelooking for good craft beer selection. A lot of places were packed, but we were fortunate to snag the couch at the front of Vestiarie right when we got in! We were super glad we checked them out because it had everything we were looking for. First, the craft selection was on point and quite ample. The NEIPA's I had were spot on. But for the rest of the group, who were not interested in beer, they also had a selection of cocktails and wine. And it was just a nice spot--yes, it was lively, but it wasn't over-bearing. You could still have a quiet conversation and hear everyone in the group. If that's your thing, would highly recommend.

And that right there is my main issue with it, the Monday trivia is now so well known that you basically have to show up at 5pm to secure yourself a table...and that's ridiculous. The teams are essentially composed of the same 15 people every week, so between two teams of 6-7 people, you are not getting those shots tonight buddy! I hear great things about the snake bite, but the food is just okay - don't go for the nachos, they get cold and soggy super quick! Same for the pizzas, disappointing. They serve their burgers with chips, which I think is the one true cop-out for any kitchen, but they are very good, so go with that ;)

This review is for the Birra beers specifically - each one we had was delicious! We tried the Anne,…read moreFrancesco, and Ginette. The Francesco was a sweet beer that had a very nice vanilla flavour and a good mouthfeel, but was not overly heavy. The Ginette was a perfect combination of sour and hoppy. Both were fairly low on alcohol, which is helpful when you want to try different options! I thought their house beer was so good that I wished they had more of their own options on tap! I did not realize at the time that they were affiliated with La Succursale. The atmosphere was nice - lots of people enjoying their Friday evening. I really liked the wood bar. We didn't try any food, so I cannot comment directly on that, but the dishes looked good based on our view of the kitchen window.

I want to like Birra, heck, I want to love it considering how close it is to my place, but it…read morealways leaves me disappointed. The beer selection is pretty great and most of them are quite tasty, but the smell of varnish (?) from all of the wood is overpowering, the food isn't great and the portions are small, and the seats both inside and outside are uncomfortable. My biggest issue with Birra is the the service, it is consistently slow and never gives me anything close to a warm feeling. With so many other options in the area and the fact that they will not even allow me to tie my dog up to the outside of the patio so that he'd be sitting beside a planter and nowhere near people or the serving staff, I will spend my money literally anywhere else in the neighbourhood.

Weather was giving fall glory this weekend in Montreal. I wanted to enjoy it with a burger, a beer,…read moretop notch fries, and a breeze on my skin. Found this place in a Reddit thread and the Yelp pics sold me. Huge beer spot - the dining room had multiple expanses all leading out to an inviting deck and patio area. Outdoors seating can be a miss for me sometimes since restaurants don't always include seating to fit a wide variety of bottoms but Vices et Versa nailed it! There were small wooden chairs and also long bench/pew seating as well as some smaller standalone benches. Perfect. The beer list was excellent - you already know I got the sour and my husband got a framboise. I knorrrr! My tarty fruity sour vibes are finally starting to wear him down muahahahhaha Ahem. Anyway. Food: I got the bacon burger with fries. He got the spicy chicken thigh sandwich with fries. Let's talk about those fries. Crispy outside, pillowy inside. Yeeesssssss. And Montreal serves them as they should be done - WITH MAYO!! The waiter even took one look at the half full mayo cup that came with my burger and said he'd top it off for me. He gets it. He gets me. I know this place must be rocking on a weekend - if so - 100% worth the wait. Fantastic. On street parking is plentiful compared to other parts of the city. But if you have the time, drink up and call an Uber.

Drinks were consistently good and well served. The food menu felt a bit limited, but still enough…read morefor light bites.

I have dined in the evening at their St Denis branch and had a great experience and I'm happy to report the brunch was equally amazing. If you've ever dreamed of all you can eat AND drink (yes, all you can drink beer and mimosas), then Saint-Houblon is the place for you. Although this restaurant is more of a bar,the food quality and choices are truly refined. They source their own locally greenhouse grown veggies when possible and offer a range of elevated dishes with vibrant colors and combinations. With over 24 beers on tap and seasonal specials, this is the best place to try variety. For $30 a person (price can vary depending on season, it was $25 in January), you can choose an assortment of eggs (regular, benedict, scottish), sausage, bacon, creton, salmon rilette, chicken & waffles, pancakes, toast, bagels, garlic potatoes, quiche, beans etc with all you can drink beer (any on tap!) and mimosas. Similar to how you would order sushi at an asian restaurant, you are provided with a menu sheet for the group and just need to list how many of each item you want to order. You can keep on ordering as much as you like. For me the highlight were the eggs benedict, served over your choice of veggies or meat and resting on a sweet bun, the sauce was so flavorful and the pulled pork or brisket (not sure what it was) was melt in your mouth. If you want to get your money's worth, stay away from waffles or pancakes, they were extremely filling. Everything else is delish!! Fun to come as a group then you can really sample every item on the menu.
