Founded in 1945 and having maintained a homey interior where the full pastry kitchen can be seen through glass behind the counter-top, Pasticceria Castelnuovo opens every day except Monday at 08h00 with a focus on Italian classics given a Milanese focus, several items not previously seen in Venice or Parma soon to become regular findings including a Brownie-dense cake entitled Torta Enrico that marries Pears to Chocolate with almost no additional sugar making for a bold, bittersweet taste. Offering several styles of Petit Fours, Tartlets and Cookies, those with Marzipan and Nuts a beautiful balance of textures that saw sweetness tempered by natural savory notes, both the Cream and Jam Croissants were still toasty warm with well-separated layers of lamination beneath their golden exterior, a tiny Layer Cake of Rice infused with Rum also quite pleasant.

They were both delicious, but I have to say that they did not meet my expectations. Maybe I had to high of an expectation you might say and you might be right. Anyway, the torta Enrico is a sweet pastry crust (pasta frolla) filled with dark chocolate and pears. The crust is really good, but overall it didn't deliver the amazing experience i was expecting. It was just really good. Same thing for the Zurich Torte, a sweet pastry crust filled with baked pastry cream and apples, very very good, but not sublime as i was hoping. Anyway, this is a classic pasticceria in Milan that delivers very high quality desserts and pasticcini, you can't go wrong with it.

The menu of crepes here is extensive- from savory sandwich-like crepes to a plethora of sweet crepes, this Creperia will satisfy any crepe lover! They must have a hundred crepes on the menu. The selection of sweet crepes ranges from a lot of different fruit varieties like kiwi or berries, to combinations with all kinds of creams, custards, and chocolate fillings. I am also impressed with the drink menu. There are a couple pages of cocktails, plus a beer and wine selection. The cocktails are WORTH IT. I got an Irish whiskey and it was so gorgeous! The bar is also very cool; they've got a lot of character with the way they've decorated this place. I highly recommend this creperia for a drink and a snack. Close to Quadrilatero d'Oro too!

They have a set brunch menu but I decided just to get some blueberry pancakes. It was about €11 for two blueberry pancakes which is fine but I felt like it was a little over priced for what I got. The restaurant itself was super nice though really cute and comfortable. You also pay at the front rather than with a server.
