I reserved here as upon walking by the night before it was paced with no space for even 2 people. The reviews were good and it was within walking distance of my hotel. We were taken to a table on the water so I felt like I already lucked out with a great seat, great view and I chose something that sounded delicious. Veal served with spaetzle on the side with a mushroom cream sauce. What I got looked beautiful, the taste, eh. Spaetzle was blah, sauce was OK and the meat, like leather. Very disappointing. I wont go back for sure. Servers were very nice and service was good. Pinot noir, fantastic, local.

As all 3 restaurants I had shortlisted for dinner were fully booked we randomly chose this place close to Little Venice. The main course of veal cutlet with Spatzles was nicely cooked, above average. My friend chose a local speciality consisting of Calf's head, I declined to try any but was informed that the dish was bland. We skipped dessert as the dishes did not sound tempting. Service was efficient.

Recommended to us by a local friend who says they have amazing meats, my husband and I went. The first time my husband and I tried going here were "ferme" but we went back later that night when they were open for dinner. Colmar in general is not serving any type of food between 2-7pm. Accept this and be happy. For 42euros we enjoyed a shared a dinner of prime rib, sautéed vegetables, and great fries. The plover and champignon sauces the steak was served with perfectly accented the delicious steak. I went safe and ordered it medium even though we like steak medium rare and it was still super tender and juicy. If we ever go back again, we'll order it medium rare. The view of the canal at night from the terrace was magical and luck For us, bug and smoke free. I love that coffee and tea come with mini cones of chantille cream and yummy cookies. The tarte au jour was huge and delicious- boisonberry pie topped with a generous meringue and three huge dollops of homemade whipped cream on the side. Best dessert of our trip. The staff was friendly, attentive, and let us speak French. The dinner was epic!

    Traditional, simple, and well priced.

You…read moresee, we made the mistake of delaying our lunch until after 2 pm, when most establishments were then closed until dinner - our dining options were very limited and Des Tanneurs was one of the only places still accepting diners. Des Tanneurs serves traditional Alsatian fare in an environment with typical Alsatian decor. It's cite, and kitschy, and I love the warmth. It reminds me of my grandma's house. It was packed when we arrived, and the service was what you might expect at European restaurants. Unfussy, but they get the job done. This was my first time trying Alsatian choucroute -- what I received was a massive ham hawk served atop sauerkraut and some steamed potatoes on the side. Side note- I hail from a region in the U.S. where sauerkraut is also very common, and I had more the my fair share growing up. But Alsatian sauerkraut is less sour with a more complex flavor, which I attribute, in part, to the juniper berries. Anyway, I loved the whole, stick to your ribs, massive portion of choucrute I received. There was so much ham, I could not eat it all. The dish was so tasty and surprisingly less salty than I was expecting. My husband went with a melted Munster cheese dish served with roasted potatoes, which he loved so much that he declared was even better than raclette. Les Tanneurs was a lucky find for us, and it made an already fun day, even better with delicious food. I'd recommend when visiting Colmar.

I had the beef "gro sel" which I saw the lady at the next table eat, and it looked good. My husband had the bibalakas with smoked trout, which was good, but not quite what he was hoping for (we didn't really know what to expect). The kids had sausage and spatzel/french fries. I liked my food. Just the right portion and taste for me. Dessert was good as well. I had the black forest cake, and my husband had the pie of the day, which was a crumble raspberry pie. Overall, a solid family friendly restaurant in old town Colmar.

We started with a couple of spritzes and a big bottle of tap water. We ordered a few main courses to share -- the winemaker "salad," which was too much meat and cheese with very little lettuce; the goat cheese and honey flambee, which was decent but we had a better one earlier in the day down the road and the original bibalakas, which were our favorite item. It was a good meal but not one of our favorites. Maybe we didn't order the right things.

From the moment you see the Hotel property from the street and sidewalk, you are struck with the history of the place as you approach and see the historical markers confirming and informing more details of that history. Understand the Hotel La Maison des Tetes Colmar has two restaurants co-located on the premises. The Michelin Star rated Restaurant Girardin has garden seating when the weather beckons and superb cuisine I imagine. However, the more feasibly priced Brasserie Historique delivers and I cannot imagine missing the Michelin rating when you see the ham, bacon, and sausage platter with potatoes, sauerkraut and pickles I devoured in the pictures. The boiled potatoes are soft and buttery. The definitively German influenced kraut is more sweet, than sour. The Weisswurst and Bratwurst are spot on and must be accompanied by the required spicy mustard. The bacon and chunk of haxe are so tender and with a hint of smoke. Are you drooling? I am recalling this masterpiece of a pork platter I call the Alsatian Avalanche and it will leave you satisfied and satiated. The pictures don't lie. Accompanied by some good beer on tap always in rotation and seasonally, your palate and stomach will feel and taste the German influence that is a historically sensitive matter in this part of France. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as was our server. The experience is rewarding to your palate, your olfactory and visual senses. This is a place to which I would return easily in Colmar and I highly recommend the Brasserie Historique if you are in Colmar. This is one of the better Yelp four star ratings I can give and I can imagine many people would give it a higher rating. I welcome your feedback and comments. Sante!
